Haha thanks man, we’re glad you like it! We definitely feel the possibilities are endless with this camper and this was our vision of what it could be. The best part is there are even more plans for it as well!

Great video! It was nice to finally see a video on this camper by an owner and not a dealter walkthrough... I too own a Soaring Eagle Adlar 6.5XL that I carry on the back of my 2018 Ford F150 with a payload capacity of 1,897 lbs as stated on my door sticker. The options it came with are roof air, power jacks, 380w roof solar and a Dometic AC/DC cooler. It also came with a portapotty. I had the dealer install a 100 Ah Battle Born lithium which I am very happy with. Here are the mods and additions I have done to my camper: 1. I unhooked the PWM solar controller and added a Victron Smart Mppt controller that fits nicely in the electronics compartment under the floor of the closet. To this I aso added a Victron Smart shunt and a battery cutoff switch in the battery compartment. 2. I removed the bulky dinette table top and pedestal and bought a small folding bamboo top table that fits perfectly in the spot and can also be used outdoors if needed. It is just my wife and I so we don't need the extra sleeping space. 3. I changed out the portapotty that came with it for a Laveo Dry Flush that I had gotten for free a number of years ago. It is nice for the fact I don't need water and chemicals to manage it and, taking into the consideration the weight of the water when added to the portapotty, it's actually a few pounds lighter. I bought a DIY cargo netting storage kit and added customed sized stretch cargo netting storage on both sides of the camper for lights, plates, cups, etc. I also used the stretching shock cord to secure the cooler on top of the right side counter underneath the microwave /storage compartment, So I could run the cooker off of DC on that side ( there is only one DC outlet in the camper and it is on the left side) I ran an extrea 12v outlet straight from the battery to the right side storage compartment so I can keep power to the cooler without having to move it to the other side of the camper. I have a EcoFlow Delta 2 1024 Ah poer station that will run the nicrowave if needed for quick heating. I hook the Delta 2 up as shore power by running a 10 ft. 25 amp extension cord from the outisde shore power plug in, up under the outer wing and through the pass through hole on both sides of the camper (underneath the cushions) that normally has a plastic screw off lid covering it. I found a cable pass through adapter that fits that hole nicely and accommodates the extension and a 20 ft. solar connector extesnion that is used with the 200w folding solar panels that will recharge the Delta 2 without it having to be taken out of the camper. To use the Delta 2 as shore power and to keep ito looping into the Battle Born battery is why I put a battery cut off swicth on the Battle Born. Since the Battle Born is charged by the roof top solar or real shore power, the cut off doesn't affect it staying charged. 4. I bought a 60" RV ladder and cut it down so I can more easily get into the bed when it is pulled out. I am 70 years old and even though I can climb in and out of the sleeping area okay, getting out of it in the middle of the night and trying to place my feet on the side coutnters is tricky. Having a ladder is much simpler and safer. When I camp. I carry a tarp and a screen house tent for rain protection and the screen house if mosquitoes are terrible. I have a 5 lb. propane tank like you, but not mounted to the outside. Heat is less of a concern in Florida so it is pimarity for the camp stove. I keep pots and pans, extra connectors, and the camp stove in a trunk like plastic storage bin that can be lifted out when camping. Water is 2, 3 gallon size Aqua Bricks that can be stacked and come with a spigot. I have a folding camp stove table with underneath storage and an small extra camping table and a few camp chairs. When the camper is on the truck, I take off the jacks which removes about 100 lbs of weight. They're easily put back on when I want to take the camper off but I have actually left the camper on since it rides so well on the truck. Everything fits nicely in the camper when traveling, Like you, I found the cushions on the bed terrible and added a self inflate air mattress that works to make it more comfortable.

Many thanks for making this video on the Adlar 6.5. I like the Dickinson marine furnace install - especially how it vents all of the combustion gases to the outside. My guess the Dickinson is way less fiddly than a diesel heater. Just a quick criticism of the RV industry - The folks who build these campers in Indiana seem to believe everyone wants to be tethered to shore power. From my experience, adding a lithium power station works out well for providing a 120 volt AC source while boondocking. Plus, it supplements the storage capacity of the camper's battery.
@Nadventurefam
@Nadventurefam 5 ай бұрын
Exactly! Yes the propane is much better in my opinion. And having the removable portable battery is so nice as well can take it outside if we need power out there and adds so much power when it’s plugged into the camper!
Ай бұрын
I own the camper and have the exact same complant. If you read my comment above, every mod I have done on this camper was done for boondocking, I don't undertand why if they were adding solar that they didn't design it for easier implimentation of the solar for dry camping. They could have designed modular addons (outside water storage, etc.) that would make this camper more appealing. Capri did this with their Lonestar model which looks like they discontinued for some reason. Not everybody wants to go to an over crowded camp ground.

Great review!! We really like your enhancements to the XL! Question - Do the window blinds and edge of the bed get real warm when the furnace is running, looks like it’s close?
@Nadventurefam
@Nadventurefam 7 ай бұрын
It hasn’t gotten too warm. I think because the windows get cold at night, it is enough to maintain a good temp. The bed gets a little warm but since there is no open flames, just heat blowing out, I’m not worried about anything catching fire. We’ve slept with it running all night for multiple nights and never had any issues. I do plan on doing a separate video on the fireplace all on its own so be on the look out for that. And send me any other questions you may have and I’ll be sure to answer them there too.

You have done a nice job with this rig. With three furnace mounted where it is, does it keep the lower part of the camper warm? I ask because it is so high.
@Nadventurefam

If you check out our video on the furnace itself I kinda explain what I did to solve that issue as I did mount it about 6” too high. Go check that video out 😄

Cool upgrades. For the shelves you installed in the closet, at what exact height did you screw in the shelf brackets? How do you know where the aluminium studs are? Thanks.
@Nadventurefam
@Nadventurefam 4 ай бұрын
I honestly don’t remember the exact measurements but I found the studs by simply knocking on the walls until I found a distinct sound difference. It worked I’d say 98% of the time 😂

? For real craftsman that actually camp an build stuff please would ah webasto diesel heater be easy to install or would it destroy the integrity of the camper from cutting an modification propane heat is cool but I have ah diesel truck so I figured I could just draw fuel from my tank 😉 an not have the propane tank hanging off my camper it's just to flammable my grandkids like hanging out an the camper is cool
@Nadventurefam
@Nadventurefam 7 ай бұрын
Diesel heat would be a good idea if you have a diesel truck I agree. The propane works well for us and once the camper is up on the truck, the tank is up out of reach of small children.
