My MIJ Squier Tele I've have had for 20 plus years .. I modded a few month's back to rail pickups neck and bridge and yes yes yes ... This video has me liking the idea of going back in to coil split thou and one of these V3's look and sound quiet tempting

Looks nice! Kind of reminds me of my own guitar, where I took a MIM Fender Standard Telecaster 2009 and replaced the bridge pickup with a DiMarzio Chopper T and did a split-coil on the tone knob, replacing the CTS tone pot with a DiMarzio push-pull 250k pot, but I kind of botched it with the pickup balance.

Saw these Volas at West Park guitars in Franklin, PA. Was very impressed! That Vasti guitar has the same config as my modded Tele - MIM, has a hot rails in the bridge and single coil at the neck. I really like this versatile config.
@GUSCRAWF0RD3 жыл бұрын
That's interesting, I split a hot stack in the bridge of my strat, and I left thh default mode the single coil too. It's got a "rip cord" on the tone knob so you can pull it and beef up your output in style like you're starting a chain saw

Earlier this year I put together a Tele and placed the DiMarzio Chopper T rail in the bridge and the neck pickup its pairs with (forget the name but its the tele version of the True Velvet). The rail bridge splits surprisingly well and it quickly became my go to guitar. There is something special with that pickup combination within a tele!

I like it because the action is very low. I also like the shaved neck and the satin finish love that its like my affinity neck. Candy apple is always sharp looking. Are those jumbo frets? medium jumbo? Pick ups sound pretty good. Frets are defiantly polished. your demonstration chords and bends sound so cool. How much is that guitar? I have already got too many though.
@MashaT223 жыл бұрын
This looks like a great guitar! I just have two gripes: - I would have preferred a Graphtech but over none. Bone tends to have more inconsistencies and wears more than than a man made material like Graphtech. - The other thing is the neck joint still seems a bit awkward. Yes, the rounded it at the top from the last version, but I think they need to make a much lower profile. Smaller hands will definitely still have a problem getting to those high frets without having a huge piece of neck in the palm of their hands. Think along the lines of the High Performance Les Paul guitars. I doubt they could do it the same way at this price point, but it can surely take some cues from that style while still being a bolt-on neck. Fix those two things, and this will be a seriously sick guitar! Bonus third point: - They should offer a 24.75 scale length if this isn’t already. It’s a little hard to tell from the camera angles, but it looks like a 25.5”, which is usually awkward to play for folks with short fingers, most beginners, and people who like string bending. If this isn’t 24.75”, it needs to be - or at least offered as a configuration option.
@Mizai3 жыл бұрын
sadly he or the guitar company does doesnt care (i do care)
@denis_kleshchev3 жыл бұрын
I believe this is 25.5" scale length. It's a tele after all. Shorter scale length is not necessary for easier bends, just use lighter strings gauge and you're good to go. Neck joint is still pretty bad though
@lostinspacecamp42453 жыл бұрын
What? Far more manufacturers make their guitars with the Fender scale. All three of those groups you named play or started playing on that, its a fair bet.

Very nice sounding guitar. Just a couple of nights ago, I switched out the bridge pickup on my Modded 2-pickup Fender Strat for an OBL Dual Rail Pickup, which is hotter and balances it's volume much better with the neck pickup. I haven't decided if I want to coil split it or not.

They were on the right track with the neck contour and the belly cut, but then they went and made a pointy horn. Respect what you do Darrell and watch most of your videos. Most of the time you are spot on but on Vola guitars buyers beware. I bought the Vasti V3 based on your video. Without a doubt one of the worst guitars I've owned. Plenty of buzz regardless of setting up the neck many times. The Bridge pickup did not do the Tele thing and was muddy when using gain. The single coil in the neck, not inspiring at all. The boost only made a bad tone louder. I ended up taking a HUGE loss when selling it because no one really knows the brand or cares for it. It looked great but just didn't sound great at all. I also bought a Vola OZ 24 which I still have and like very much. Stainless steel frets, locking tuners, roasted neck. I did have to replace the bridge pickup with a seymour duncan custom custom. That made it the keeper it is. Do all you can to play what you buy first from them. Darrell and others due to being very good players and studios to match can make most things sound far better than they are. Not trying to be negative just honest on my experience.
@GS-uy4xo11 ай бұрын
I have one and the only negative thing for me is the weight - quite heavy, but other than that it’s a great Tele vibe. Do you recall if yours was heavy as well? Seems like they might be going through some QC issues. I’ve also owned the Strat style and it sounded fantastic but it had more vintage style frets with the Vasti doesn’t (medium jumbo) and I was able to trade it. Resale is also a downer with these so as you said play it before buying!
@TheOldFlyguy11 ай бұрын
@@GS-uy4xo I own a Vola Oz 24. There is some fret buzz but not enough to keep me from playing it. I like it but also had to change out the bridge hum bucker. I bought it for close to $1400. Now I'm seeing them for just over 1K from dealers. Just don't want to lose a lot of money again like I did on the Vasti. The appointments are great such as the roasted neck, stainless steel and locking tuners. The Vasti wasn't over heavy. Neck was ok gut the pickups imo were TERRIBLE. It didn't sound like Tele and with gain got muddy fast. For me there wasn't a reason to keep it. If you want a tele sound get one. If you want to do gain there are too many better options. For me there just wasn't anything impressive to warrant the pricing and with a less known name the resale is unbelievably bad.
