You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use KZbins lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and KZbin deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

Man this one looks good! I really like how the cuts in the bezel reflect the light, the dial/indicies are crispy! And the bracelet is beautiful and something different for a change. I would get one if they did an aventurine dial. I agree with the nh34 getting overused, but it really is a good movement.

I have just bought this very watch from Gary. In Person the dial is quite dynamic although it looks gloss white in videos and photos when you vew the dial in person it shifts under the light it has subtle banding running through it and in some lights an oil slick shimmer like effect. The dial is not an obvious MOP dial like you would find on say a womans dress watch with colour shifting happening left right and center its more subdued somtimes almost monochrome almost like the dial has other dials under it. oh and the case finishing is indeed very good.

this should have a ceramic bezel option for practical durability. It also creates on nice shine from a far that contrasts well with brushed stainless steel. Would look killer with that black/charcoal looking Mother of Pearl version. Also, I'd love to see San Martin or someone else put out an homage to the Shunbun cherry blossom dial or the Skyflake. The venturine is nice but you kinda have to be into that stone. Excellent video quality. Watching on my new Samsun S9 Ultra and someone watching ovrer my shoulder remarked how sharp the image on that "Rolex" wasr

San Martin does a great job with their finish work and production. SM's work does standup against Swiss mid-tier luxury watches - show tow things I thing - 1. San Martin is putting in the time to produce their product beyond what most other Chinese brands are. 2. San Martin is putting in the money for labor and equipment to produce watches that are finished well and QC'ed.

Looks good on the timegrapher, have you experience of wearing an nh34 daily? If so how much does it vary on the wrist. I have one nh35 and can make it correct on the timegrapher but in use its all over the place (just within the limits Seiko specify) where my nh36s and 7s26s are just +/- a few seconds a day.

each watch varies and my wearing experience isn't particularly normal as my watches are on and off multiple times a day with filming so I can't really comment too much on the accuracy while wearing it.

I track the time accuracy of my watches religiously, from the time I put one on until I change to another watch, so that I can keep a running chart of accuracy. With my random sample of over a dozen NH35's, I find them all to have a lot of positional variation, but are easily regulatable to where every single one's daily accuracy is under +/- 10 sec/day, with half being under +/- 5 sec/day. Because of the positional variation, I never regulate by timegrapher result alone - I measure my own daily accuracy (combination of on-wrist during the day and off-wrist at night), then use the timegrapher to adjust the rate relative to that. I'm frankly amazed that this < $30 movement is so robust and accurate across my entire random sample of units, with not a single one being a "bad" sample.

San Martin watches truly are phenomenal for the money but I believe they would really benefit from a rebrand. In fact, come to think of it, I can't think of a single Chinese watch company that has nailed the branding or marketing of their watches, they all just feel like... manufacturers, sterile, surgical and faceless. I'd happily keep a Lorier, Traska or Phoibos in my collection but a Proxima, San Martin, Steeldive? Not so much. Would love to see a company like San Martin go that extra step and inject some personality into branding and their otherwise fantastic watches. If they would would embrace that fact they're Chinese rather than try to disguise themselves as some European sounding brand like "San Martin" I think they'd appeal to a wider audience. Think of all the awesome Chinese heritage, culture and folklore they could draw from. Huge congratulations on 100k btw!

IMO Purchasing a watch is not only about the finishing and price. It’s about the company producing the time piece and it doesn’t need to be a big brand. Although nicely finished San Martin doesn’t do anything for me as they’re either just copying big brands or releasing “safe” original designs. Plus i don’t trust their customer support in case something goes wrong. Better support who is trying to do something new and has a vision!!

While their designs may not enthuse you, you can't say San Martin doesn't have a vision, when they have single-handedly elevated the entire "affordable" watch segment (both aliexpress and worldwide microbrands), changing the bar for what everyone expects from a $100-400 watch. Everyone has had to up their game - compare watches to those being made 3 years ago, many of which would just be unacceptable today - loose bezels, badly glued, no lume, uneven markers, poor alignment, etc., that we just used to accept as "oh well, that's just what you get in an affordable watch." The one constant has been San Martin, who's "vision" appears to have been "we can build to luxury-watch standards." And they've been learning on the fly, changing due to customer feedback, and testing different features (movements, etc.). I've yet to buy one, but I absolutely see the affect they've had in the rising quality of the watches I've bought over the past 3 years, and I'm really encouraged by their design direction. (The hands and faceted markers on this watch are better than anything I'm seeing on certain recently announced "microbrand" watches.) I'd love to buy a 39mm 3-hander with 6 o'clock date and a unique dial from them - and I think they're getting there soon.

An excellent finished watch is nice to have but i prefer a watch with a “soul” if you know what I mean. I buy watches to keep them and wear them. So after some years of use, The finishing won’t be the same as wear and tear will start showing. With a watch with a “soul” I will still find the same enjoyment in wearing it after years even with wear and tear showing while with a watch like SM, I will just stop wearing it. I do have a couple of SM which have ended up in a drawer for this reason.

San Martin has absolutely no finesse in their 'designs'. They may use a good factory for case finishing but there is not a hint of balance or consideration to scale anywhere on this watch, which makes it look like a jumble sale of blingy parts. No-one would ever mistake a San Martin for a Swiss watch, not because of the quality, but because they look like they were designed on a Friday afternoon. YMMV ;)
