The Boston Bruins have chosen to NOT file for arbitration against Jeremy Swayman meaning both parties can now continue to negotiate a contract extension for Swayman without an arbitration deadline hanging overhead. Jeremy Swayman has HINTED at an extension in a cameo discussing what the future will hold for himself and Joonas Korpisalo for a post-game celebration. James Van Riemsdyk has yet to sign a deal and remains one of the top free agents available, could the Bruins sign Van Riemsdyk back to another deal to help with the experience with the bottom 6 forwards.

Given Saros' recent contract Sway should be looking for something similar but, a little less. If I'm Sweeney I'm doing my best to stay at or under $7M, if I'm Sway's agent i'd be looking to match Saros or maybe $7.5M

I mean post Carter Harts legal situation Philly certainly could use a goalie. They don't have the cap space to do it though. Montreal similarly depending on how close they feel the rebuild is to actually coming into effect they could. If a team did like the minimal 9.15 for 2 years it'd be very hard for Boston to match. They could handle the cap hit. They have 8.6 in space right now and have contracts they could burry. They could have Wotherspoon in Providence to free another million. But would they? If that happened it'd mean when the deal ended he'd be a UFA. And the Bruins would have never successfully negotiated a contract with him. If they did match it after 1 year you'd have to consider moving Swayman and do you think you could get more than 2 firsts1 second and 1 third? Considering what the return for Ullmark was I don't think you could. The smarter move would probably be to walk away and use those assets to get someone else. This entire situation is frankly stupid. Why they traded Ullmark before the Swayman situation was resolved I'll never get. It was a clearly not optimal decision.

The Bruins never should have traded Ulmark without having signed Swayman . It didn’t make sense. You need at least one of them or both. That was what got that team through the season. Now they have to sign Swayman and he is going to get whatever he wants from another team if he wants to

I was hoping (weren't we all?) that this Swayman situation would be resolved much sooner, but good news the team brass aren't filing arbitration and I hope he stays. He was great for us last year and has shown a lot of really impressive skill already for a young goalie. As far as Van Riemsdyk goes I see all the comments below trashing him, but as a long time fan (and remember he's 35 now not 25) I think he was really good as a veteran presence on the bottom 6 and would like to keep both. As far as other opinions I would like to see Max Jones get a good amount of ice time- very underrated and he can be a tough guy to play against. So that's my takes.

They should have just offered 6-7 - 2 year if he hadn’t accept it they should have given Linus an extension and let him go. Used the extra 3 on better depth or a winger
