If you're looking for things to do in Rhodes this video is for you. This week we’re exploring the 4th largest Greek Island called Rhodes. We’re in the largest city of the island called Rhodes Town.
It’s been awhile since we exercised so to start things off we head out on an amazing run! Just south of the major beaches in town is a wonderful running/walking/biking path with access to many small beaches along the way.

After touring the hotel we head over to the absolutely stunning medieval Old Town! While here we explore major streets and small alleyways.
Lastly we go to the Acropolis of Rhodes to check out the ancient ruins. Here we see an ancient stadium, a theatre and the Temple of Apollo. We then head a bit further up the hill to check out the amazing view of the sunset.

Rhodes, the largest of Greece’s Dodecanese islands, is known for its beach resorts, ancient ruins and remnants of its occupation by the Knights of St. John during the Crusades. The city of Rhodes has an Old Town featuring the medieval Street of the Knights and the castlelike Palace of the Grand Masters. Captured by the Ottomans and then held by the Italians, the palace is now a history museum.

Ida Ftou he played a famous Greek but I think he was Mexican.

He played the Greek in films like The guns of Navarone (1961)which was filmed in Rodos and made the island popular abroad, and " Zorba the Greek " but he wasn't Greek. He was American with Mexican origin.

Rhodes is a great Greek island with amazing unique sites of it's own. With the perfect medieval walled city which is one of the biggest in the world and it's UNESCO entirely. however aside from all the amazing things one can say about Rhodes and absolutely a great island, as Greek islands are all great. But among the larger Greek islands, every big island is so different it's first of all hard to judge which one is "best". Personally I loved Rhodes with it's side trip we did to Symi. Our vacation felt like a 10/10 like any vacation we had in Greece. However it felt like all our vacations on bigger or smaller islands and mainland Greece to be 10/10. For example Crete is really also a great island with so much to see and do. I have been there many times, also in may. But it's very diverse with also many gorgeous towns and villages. In that sense, Crete is hard to beat. Alpine mountains all the way to the only natural palm forests in Europe. And Euboea is also really a great island, highly unknown and the 2nd largest in Greece. It's full of nature, truffles, and it's own local things and gorgeous beaches like lichadonisia and so on. But it's certainly a perfect place and very different in it's own way. But again. I also haven't traveled all the big Greek islands, let alone the "smaller" ones. I for example have high expectations for Chios (if you like to step back in time), or Samos, Kefalonia, Corfu, and so many others. But point is. Rhodes is amazing. And so are endless other Greek islands. But Im following you guys and I know you had already the most amazing experiences in various other places in Greece, and by now you know how diverse this country is. So my idea is. I want to find out what you think about Greece once you have traveled 20 more islands, and then parts of the mainland in springtime like Epirus, Peloponnese, Thessalia, Makedonia, and so on. I already am so passionate about this country because I did these things already. Hence I can say, what other country the size of Greece has this tremendous diversity in so many different beauties. Anyway. I subrscribed to you guys. I have seen too many video's of you to be so impolite to not follow you guys.

I have visited Rhodes several times and yes, it’s my joint favourite location (along with Crete) in all of Europe. It literally has the best climate in all of the Mediterranean region (except Tel Aviv, Israel)...and the combination of medieval old Rhodes Town & the beautiful village of Lindos...simply cannot be rivalled.

Delightful Travellers I thought you guys had already visited Israel. Me, I am a runner too....actually, this is my 50th year of serious, competitive, running. Now, well into my 60’s I still do 10K five time per week year round. I visited more than 100 countries from 1974 to 1998...unfortunately, there was no travel vlogs, internet, etc in those days. I hope you ventured beyond the town - the island has so much more to offer to the south, both on the rugged Aegean Sea coast (which you wrongly referred to as the Mediterranean), and on the other side of the island on the Mediterranean coast where there are more sandy beaches, lots of history, and in between the beautiful mountains and many picturesque villages.

So happy you guys visited our island! It's so interesting to see it through someone else's perspective! Sadly, the Apollo Temple has been under construction for a couple of years now, but it's very beautiful when it isn't surrounded by metal. I live right next to the ancient stadium, and it's somewhere we always used to go, either with my friends or with school as well for field trips, as it was within walking distance and big enough for us all to have fun! And for our day long trips, we'd go south to different villages or, on occasion, Symi!! Subscribing right away ❤️

Rhodes is not a patch on Hania in Crete.Cretan hospitality is the best throughout Greece and it's islands. Love the way in Crete they give you complimentary cakes and raki at the end of your meals, such a nice touch. Never got that treatment in other Greek islands. If I win the lottery then I'm going to buy a house in the old town of Hania, and spend the rest of my life amongst these wonderful people.

The best Gyro in all of Greece (and I've had a loooot all over the entire country) is to be found i the village of...xxx... I have absolutely forgot the name of it. It's in a village just outside of Rhodes town. I'll try and find it on Google Earth. Anyway, the difference is that in this particular place, they cut the meat from the Gyro (Kebab) and then fries the slices some more. Tastes soo good.

Each ancient stadium was 600 feet long. The problem is that there was no standardization of foot length, so the distance ranged from 181 meters to 192 meters. The Colossus of Braavos was modeled on the Colossus of Rhodes.
