You have no idea how much I can relate to this man. I've been having a hard time too, dealing with depression, anxiety and substance abuse (I'm in recovery though 1 year sober now). I've been job hopping from industry to industry trying to find my place. I'm in tech now and its much better, but has not been easy. I'm also the same age as you, well I'm 29. Your not alone Matt, I love and follow your content, keep it up bro and god bless.

Oh man... this is so common Matt, know that you're not alone. Compare and despair is real and you're already doing the best first thing: being aware of it! I was (and still am) struggling with this too. What started to help me more recently was learning (and testing) different ways to shift my "self worth" from the outside to the inside. - restarted meditating once a day for at least 3 minutes (self compassion is big here) - working with therapist & coach (deeper awareness of myself) - journaling my wins, daily (no matter how small) You'll come out the other side of this Matt! Leep leaning into it. p.s. LOVE redrocks

Thanks Matt, I think it is very honourable of you to share this video. Especially because it is about the emotions that give you a hard time, which is a thing most people usally lie about. I have felt a liberating warm feeling, that I am not alone in these kind of situations. Honeslty, it might be a different setup for me but its the exact same game and I find it very interesting. See I am living in third world country, our wages here are in the range of 800 USD average. I have been imagining a future where I get some proper qualification and start earning some real world money, thus acquiring decent value for myself. I really just ought to use my English, study some trade online and get the hell out of this situation. However I remember my therapist mentioned that it would note take that core feeling of emptiness inside me away. Well maybe if my plan works out it will, since its such a long way ahead but now after watching your video, I think she has got a point. So in terms of advice, which is really because I want to give something back to you, I would share a couple of ideas that I found to be the most powerful. First is to simply acknowledge the emotions first the immediate and later in times of deeper reflections the core ones. See there really is not much dangerous or harmful in these sensations. Unpleasant for sure but keeping my head cool and studying them allows me to ask the really important questions, such as when did this one grow inside me, what or how it senses or is triggered, what would be the world where this feeling would not exist, what feelings of action need I to reach out to? Great if you write this down btw, simply because it is a matter of studying yourself. Oh and by the way, one feeling which really takes away the anxiety is kindness and connection + belonging (doing good to your society and being apreciated for it). The oxytocin works like a charm. This is why gratitude practice and list are so often implemented in therapy. So keep that therapy going, thats definetely a great idea. It is also a thing that takes time. Basically it is a huge neural network that was unfortunately maladjusted. I really mean that it creates illusions that inflict negative emotions, in situation where they are actually not needed, thus taking toll on our energy. For example, do I really need this tonne of cortisol while doing my first week as a waiter? No, the dishes are only harder to balance and the clients get spooked out by my gloom. But it really is only because I am beating myself down for all my misfortunes. Well sometimes we get bad luck, it no our fault, it is ok. Coming back to the first sentence, se this takes a long time because it is to build an entire new structure, like to grow something new and necessary inside. It might take miltiple breakthroughs, give or take, but it is absolutely worth it, since that is true wisdom and spiritual virtue. S-tier soft skill. Keep going Matt, get well soon and best of luck to you!

Hey Matt, 100% feel this too. I’ve been doing sales for a few years and I’m looking to get into tech sales myself now but I’m always scared of constantly comparing myself to others. I think, for me, redirecting my anxiety and envious thoughts outward and looking in to see all that I have and should be grateful for helps a lot. Seeing that I have good friends, a wonderful partner, stable income, and graduating soon gives me hope and comfort that I’m not doing anything “wrong.” And neither are you. I appreciate your videos and tips and confidence in this industry, you’ve truly helped me learn more about how I can succeed in tech sales. Thanks Matt, keep your head up

The Buddhist principle of non attachment is one the hardest and most essential lessons to learn in life. Especially if you are in a job that depends largely on the will of strangers. It’s the law of opposites. The less you want it, the more you get it.

i can completely relate to tying your self worth to hitting your number and being in a great mood outside of work when things are going well and then miserable when you are not closing deals. need some tips to change that! wondering if yoga / meditation / sauna would help with that

bro your content has benefitted me so now its time to return the favour, brother the idea of comparison and what you've described is just a deal of competition, don't view it as "oh not I'm so miserable I'm an average seller" first this is negative self talk, I guarantee you if you were to tell yourself on repeat "I'm strong" every single day non stop for a week and you GENUINELY BELIEVE IT I fucking guarantee you'll become stronger even if you trained or worked out normally. It's the BELIEF that gives it power, if you tell yourself oh no i need therapy I need this I need that, that guy did whatever, you shouldn't feel envious or jealous that's a mistake you should instead tell yourself "If they can do it I CAN TOO" like if another human being made $1,600,000 last month that IMMEDIATELY MEANS you can do it TOO, what your mind and body is telling you is there is much more you potential you have and your pissing it away like another sales call. Your in competition WITH THE ENTIRE WORLD! my brother, understand if you have an ability that can make you not sleep and not rest because of how angry you are at the situation THAT IS A FUCKING SUPER POWER! cause now that means your going to get in fantastic shape, a lot more money, ahead of the sales game. Easy. View this "problem" as a source of unlimited fireblood, but regardless do the following I guarantee you'll be the top salesman in whatever your doing. 1. Wake up look in the mirror tell yourself your the fucking man cause your life can't get worse if all you do is tell yourself your the fucking man 2. Whenever you see a success tell yourself IF THEY CAN DO IT I CAN DO IT TOO! overthinking, being miserable, is just using your own mind against you dont do that! 3. your word must be IRON WILLED! if you tell yourself "im gonna close this client and make $50,000 in sales by selling my product in the next month" YOU BETTER DO IT! once you keep doing these wins you become a "sayer" as in everything you say you speak into existence, all you have to do is find the motivation to say it and you will now think "fuck i need to achieve this" 4. No one is going to come and drag you out of bed, tell you your okay and give you some free leads or even whatever youre looking for NO ONE IS COMING TO SAVE YOU OR GIVE YOU THE LIFE YOU WANT it is on the other side of the work you are supposed to complete each day Hope this helps, would love to have a conversation with you bro sometime take my advice and use it to win bro. Keep grinding.

I don't think it is about you being jealous, but I think the stronger feeling is you not feeling good enough by comparison. I feel it myself now 37 and back to getting rejected when applying to sales roles after leading sales teams and seeing everyone around me getting multiple promotions and me feeling like I am not even capabile of getting an SDR role anymore 😂 life happens, we have downfalls. You seem like a really great guy and you invest a lot in becoming better and better. Everyone can do and be well when they are succesul. Is how you navigate dificult times that matters. Pick yourself up because deep down inside you know you got this!

You asked for help. I eat I sleep I talk I walk sales. Psychology. I was born and raised in the biggest city in the world. So I am flavored with all nationalities. But if you asked me, I’m a New York Puerto Rican😮 ha anyway here’s a little advice, I do business to business sales. You might want to find some kind of sales that you don’t have to say much. You called the owner and tell him it’s distance this less than 60 seconds. Tell him I’m gonna send it to you if you want to do it you send it back my pitch for my product is three minutes. And then I go for the clothes. Commission $1500 Minus expenses but if you do 2345 a day you’re doing good. You do want to do you’re doing good but keep your context to a minimum. I just keep saying the same thing over and over again with a lot of leads behind it. So, for example, either you or someone overseas that you pay 3 to 5 dollars an hour and they call the store owners and get the owners name and the person that works there when you call them back he told me he spoke to one of them it’s been a while and then you give your 1 to 3 pitch and say I’ll send it to you as any reason why we shouldn’t move further, but it only takes three minutes to my pitch again, I’m not there to talk about a book that they don’t want to hear and I’m not into chasing down people all around the United States. Ha anyway I’m visually impaired and I’m doing this verbally but I’ve been listening to you and you’re good but I really don’t know exactly what you’re selling how long the pitch is how many times you got a call them back because I’m into one call close. I get them to register someway through phone calls then I called them back at 123 them and go for the clothes anyway got to go but you’re doing fantastic kid.
