Stunning rendition of Bottom's Dream speech. Loved that.

Emma Smith is a terrific thinker and her wry humour really shines through in a wonderfully surprising way. Great talk.

I LOVE this! What a fantastic lecture. I can't wait to read the book. My favorite production of Shrew was actually here at Seattle Shakes, and it was set in a trailer park. Normally I don't like when a concept is laid over Shakespeare, but Kelly Kitchens played Kate and she was this strong but conservative, dominating, unstoppable force onstage. And I could recognize her! When the long speech came, even as she was saying things like "your husband is your sovereign," you got the sense that NOBODY gets the upper hand on her. If someone cut her off, it would be treason, even her "sovereign." She showed that she was in charge, even as she preached obedience. It really is incredible how far you can stretch this language.
