I am a young man at the age of 22 and I had no father figure in my life. It was all up to my disabled mother to raise me up right and show me how to be a man. Now I am helping raise my 8 year old niece and trying to be the dad she doesn't have. Your videos are a window into how parenting should be done. Thank you for sharing it with all of us.

It won't be easy there will be times you think it's impossible but just remember that love is unconditional I know because I'm have been helping raise my step daughter to there have been times when her mother and her made me want to quit and leave but I stay because I love them and she needs to learn how man should treat his wife for when she does start dating to help her find the right one

Well Dig's Mom here chiming in! I appreciate that my Son could see the important msg in this video and not feel completely gypped by only having me! He is an AMAZING young Man. I am so very very proud of him and all of the efforts he makes for his Niece and so many others. His Older Brother would be so very proud of him too (passed when Dig was 6yrs, old a month before his own 18th Birthday). I Love you Son!

That was just plain fun from start to finish. Cody, your camera placement, editing skills and years of trial and error getting the right equipment have made you a master storyteller. Everyone was simply happy and glad to be there the whole time including Sweetloaf, Lucy, and Heartracer (Ginger?). I can't think of a better way to wind down after a hard day and a hard week then to watch a video like this.. Thank you.

Jack, you are so blessed my man. Enjoy every minute with your family that you can. My dad has gone on to be with the lord, I would give all my worldly goods just to have one more day to spend with my dad. I miss him every day. You have been blessed with a good and godly mom and dad. And a little sister that will always look to you for support. You will soon be a man, and those simple things you will miss the most. The round stacks are nice for drying. There is an old guy up by Battle Creek that runs a sawmill and sells firewood from the offcuts. He puts it on pallets. With a set of forks you could split and stack once. Then just set the pallet on the porch.

Cody l welded up a 3 carry cages to go on the tractor on my Ranch ie replacing bucket, for carrying firewood,hay,feed,garden supplies etc. The beauty of the system is you are not double/triple handling everything ,you simply stack cage with amount of firewood etc you need and then it is simply placed using the tractor where you want it, in your case the cage stacked full of wood is placed on the verandah leaving stacked wood with cage to hold it . It saves a heap of time and effort and actually works better as during winter l have one cage full of wood on stand by in my barn so it drys out and is undercover the whole time and is simply a matter of swapping cages no humping it on and off and the tractor has to place on the verandah/wood spot anyway .
@Lanninglongarmmowing

Cody, try making some firewood storage bins out of IBC totes. You can make a roof for it out of the plastic bin on the inside. The roof will shed water and keeps the wood dry. The totes can be found on marketplace, and Craigslist. There is no need for tarps that rip after a year or two. The plastic roof will last forever.

These cold winter days its time to get out into the wood shop and make something. How have you not made something for the Sweet Loaf ? A child's chair, a small indoor seesaw, a pouting chair come on my friend, time is wasting away. Soon the winter days will be gone and all of the outdoor stuff will begin. The mention projects are all a one day build and we all would love to see you back out in the shop making some thing for your little one, something she would have for her child, God willing.

Story time...I got hired as a landscaping laborer in 2004. My boss was a nice guy. Very skilled and was raised by a hard nosed father that taught him all he knew about heavy equipment, tools..pretty much everything soup to nuts. My boss had a degree in Horticulture also. We got along great right off the bat. I started like all with a #2 shovel and grinding my butt of in the hot sun..or rake or whatever the job called for..laying sod, trenching, mulch etc. But I found out quickly my boss was a whole different person on the site and on his equipment. He would scream all day long, flying off the loader, backhoe, skid steer, asv etc telling us/me how I was doing it wrong non stop. Red faced, veins bulging out is neck and skull. Not an ounce of patience. This was my first job in this field. He'd show you once and expect you to know it for life. I started out very I intimidated but as the season went on I gave it back just as hard defending my position..asking for clarity. Yet every day after work..he was all smiles and laughs in the shop. So bizarre. Next season my phone rang. Having no interest in ever going back, it was my boss asking me to come back as a foreman!! With a huge pay increase! I was in disbelief. The season was several weeks out yet so I went in to start working on running heavy equipment, Bobcats, asv to get some practice in. I would now be out of the trenches and over seeing a big crew. I did one more season but the screaming and lack of patience was more than I could take. And I can take alot. My father was a beast. Some people can learn this way but most just quit. He lost so many ppl that he ended up doing most jobs himself. Go easy especially on the loved ones. Your not on the job sites anymore. Your a great dad and very good man.

@@wranglerstar And just one more thing..I watched the bridge build. What you are teaching your son son is so important and irreplaceable in life. Frustrations aside, which your right, ultimately come from love and in some cases a need to protect/guide. I loved your statement about us not just being there to be our children's best friends. We have a much greater responsibility in our role with them so when they so hit the world on their own, they will posses the tools needed to survive. To many best buddies these days with no one telling them they are not doing wrong. Awarding for nonsense. I had a very rough father who just focused on me being tough but taught me no skills other than cutting woods, fishing, fighting, camping..mostly rage based from alcoholism. But I learned no trade skills. I would have given anything to have a father like yourself that would have taken the time and interest in teaching me these valuable trades/skills that translate so well in the real world. My life would have been much different. Got an apprenticeship available? Lol. Ah now I'm too old. But Jack is set up nicely if you and him can find a great working balance. I know you will! I've wanted to say this for awhile now so I'm just spilling it all in one shot. My best to your entire family!!

When I was growing up I had a race with a hydraulic log splitter, “I won”. I would have done better if I would of had, a sharp axe. My applied brute force and speed ,and my love of hearing the wood split ,and the over all feelings of accomplishments made me quick. There is something about work and accomplishing a task, that God set in our being, that is so rewarding. I truly thank my Heavenly Father in the name of The Lord Jesus Christ, for the truth ,and knowledge of His will. May The Father in the name of Jesus Christ ,bless all who desire to obtain this knowledge. Ephesians 4:13, Colossians 1:9, Colossians 3:10 ,Romans 12:1-3.

Poor Heart Racer, it shows that no matter how good the 4X4 is sometimes you just get high centered. lol Cody, Try as I may, I cannot help but be envious. You are surely blessed. God be with you and your family.

They both spelled “truncheon” wrong. And that’s why nobody plays scrabble with me either.

My dad is very similar to Cody but for me personally I preformed best when I would be getting directions, even if they were sorta being barked at me. Quite strangely the times I would perform the worst is when he was being silent and kind of waiting and tapping his foot or giving off that vibe of tapping his foot. That would send me into “got to get it right and quick, oh crap I feel stupid I must be doing something wrong” mode. I remember growing up he fought the entire time to not lose patience and get frustrated with me and just do it himself which he did sometimes but he fought that urge because how else will I learn? I guess I’m saying barking orders is not something that should be taboo nor was it detrimental to me anyhow. Of course there comes a time when you will need to stand back and say nothing as a final test of sorts.

Great video. But Cody cheated on the firewood stack competition! Go to 8:55 Jack puts his firewood on the porch and at 9:04 Cody steals one of the pieces. It really took me back to wrestling with my father as a young man. He was a big strong guy and we would wrestle for ages. I always wanted to beat him so badly, but in other ways I always wanted him to win, just so I didn’t diminish his respect or his place as my Dad. He’s now a little old man 82 and I look after him more than he does me, but my father is still my father and my respect and love for him has grown exponentially! So enjoy your wrestles with your Dad Jack, this is a very special time of your life. You are a very blessed young man!

Like some, I don't usually comment much but I really enjoyed this video! It's great to see good family values and habits on display. I'm 70 now and it brings back so many memories of my wife and I raising our two kids and the silly, fun things that we used to do. This is the way families should live their lives because it will provide the best memories ever when your children look back and give them excellent examples of how to raise their own children. Thank you for sharing.

It’s a bit concerning that those fire wood structures failed @ 150$ apiece I believe a follow up review is in order along with better options....harbor freight tarp?
