It's great to see a man helping his neighbors. We need more of this! I had a college friend back in the '60's who moved from Arkansas to Minnesota. One winter morning during a heavy snow storm, he started walking out to the barn and couldn't find it. He finally realized the snow had drifted up to the eaves and he was standing on the roof. He moved back to Arkansas that summer. Stay safe!

Having a an internal metal leg prothesis, anything gives me the willies. Still timid to run a tractor. Have a couple times, but im not too strong on the clutch. I hate dropping it. The only thing im sort of comfortable with is driving. Even then that took a while as my feet are atill half numb. (all because of bone cancer treatments.)

Born and bred in Maine, what you are experiencing is what we call "a nice, early Spring..." Now you know you've been in a "blizzard" when you have to shovel the snow off your roof to keep it from collapsing... Yup, had to walk ten miles to school, up hill (both ways) in deeper snow than that... ;-)

@True North Strong and Free Well you know, we don't tend to have long conversations in Maine during the winter. The words just kind of freeze in the air and drop to the ground. When "Mud Season" comes (what flatlanders call "Spring") all them words suddenly thaw out and it makes the most gosh darnded racket you can imagine! But if that whiskey is single malted scotch, I might be minded to leave a few words behind for Spring!

A idea that WILL help keep it from jamming up the second stage. I do this with my walk behind blowers. Cut out some sections of rubber from a semi mud flap or heavier conveyer belt. Bolt them to the front side of the second stage impeller fins. Cut them to be a snug fit to the housing so at first they rub just the slightest bit. They will wear them selves to a perfect fit. This will help keep rocks from jamming. Will also add protection to the fins from damage and wear as well. This will also maximize the efficacy of the blower as it creates a precision like fit. It helps A LOT when blowing heavy wet snow. Keeps it from building up inside the barrel and the shoot. As you have more/faster air/snow going through the shoot. It will also throw the heavy stuff quite a bit farther as well. Trust me, You will NOT regret doing this

Some guide wheels on each side of the blower to keep it up a couple inches would help keep it out of the gravel.

I had wheels on my garden tractor snow blower an old Cub cadet 129 (somebody else mounted them on the IH blower), and they were causing steering problems, when I took them off and just went with the original skids I have to had any issue. A wide flat skid or shoe similar to what's on a conventional snow plow would probably work. A skinny one would dig Into the ground.

Thanks for the update, glad everyone is good. Up in Seattle they pushed the panic button, now the stores had runs on them, certain commodity's and staples are nowhere to be found. More snow in the forecast. Showing the wink links in modern urban infrastructure. The media made the panic, its a testing of the waters so to speak. Many are feeling vulnerable. My prayers are for safety kindness and wisdom for the Pacnw. Here in Lower Michigan its winter, when it snows you go play in it or help others so they are able to carry on. Its a group effort back here on the Great Lakes. You roll with the punches, shrug it off and get back to work or play when its necessary to keep sane. Much love blessings and aloha Wranglerstars!

Today it took more than 3 hours, 30 min I'm so thankful for all the 4x4s out there just helping people who were stuck. I didn't even get a chance to thank the person who helped me they were too busy helping others. So if the guy who towed me up that hill off of treemont in the green diesel truck is watching. It's funny, I live in Australia and there's very few places down here that it actually snows. I always remember being really envious of Americans about that as a kid, but as I've grown older I've realised just how much of a boon that is. Snow seems like a real pain in the ass at the best of times, and really dangerous at the worst of times.

@@Colddirector Yes, we do indeed, but surprisingly more people actually die from hypothermia than from dehydration /hyperthermia. Once your core temperature gets below 34 celcius your heart developes arrhythmias which are difficult to treat, even if the patient is rewarmed, etc. Hyperthermia can cause rhabdomyolisis which can cause renal failure which isn't immediately fatal. Either can cause death, as you say.

I love the snow. To me, it's beautiful and it really changes the landscape. I can wander the same section of woods in summer and winter and see things completely differently. I'll see things I've never seen before, and I get a whole different perspective. Yeah, it does get to be a pain sometimes, and the cold days of winter without any snow aren't fun, but I still love it.

I like the fact that my snowblower impeller stops operating when I let go of the controls. Same with my walk behind lawnmower. A neighbor lent me his walk behind while mine was in the shop; he'd disabled the safety features - scariest piece of equipment I've ever used. Respect machinery always.

This'll probably get buried but; I'm a 22 year old male in my fourth year working on a natural resource management: Fire Science degree in WI. I help a couple manage their home (roughly 10 acres). Since we've been getting lots of snow recently, I have been in charge of clearing their long driveway with the husband's old Ford Tractor (equipped w/ back blade and snowblower). Suffice it to say, every time I hop on that tractor and blow snow, I think of these videos and your great content. I'm a bit of a suburban kid, so operating a tractor and hydraulic attachments is a bit of a novelty for me.

I didn't want to say it! Minnesota here! We had about 2 weeks of below zero. Windchills of minus 50! We has a "small" blizzard warning here the other day which was like 6 -7 inches of snow that just kept blowing. I have a long driveway and used the bobcat to clear the driveway. A snow blower would be nice just so I can blow the snow futher away from my driveway as it always drifts shut. But if you live in the midwest you also know to pile your snow up on the south side of your driveway if you can. But with all due respect, every area is different on how they view things. You and I may call this storm just another day, to others this is a big nightmare. I knew right away it wasn't an issue when i saw the snow blower tear through the ground. plow would of done just fine and probably been faster, and most of the snow probably has melted already and or is gone. But again to each their own.

Good guy helping out the neighbors! The world needs more kind helpful people like you, very badly. My 86 year old mother lives in an area where the majority of people claim to be very religious, church three times a week, they claim to pray for you, bless you, all that. They don't usually have much snow there so not many people have snow removal equipment. When they did have a snow the people with snow removal equipment really overcharged the elderly people. I live in another state so could not shovel my mothers 2 car driveway. The man that cleared it, in less than five minutes with the plow on his pickup, did not shovel her sidrwalk and charged EIGHTY dollars! It made me really angry. The man that ripped off my mother is a neighbor and goes to the church mom attends. My husband and I lived out in the country, across from a large farm. My husband was on his way home, about 10pm and noticed the farm neighbors barn was on fire. He called 911, alerted the family, helped them get animals out, drove farm equioment out of the burning barn and drove a truck out of the flaming building. He was unable to save an old car parked next to the barn. He risked his life helping them, it was scary! About a week later I went over to their farmstand to buy half a dozen ears of corn and the husband and wife told me they hsd to charge me $.50 extra because I picked out the bigger ears of corn. Unbelievable! Most neighbors are not kind, caring or generous any longer. You're a rarity. Thank you for being a good guy!

Wish our snow up here was drier . Here is what I found helped a bunch . After auger packed with wet concrete snow , I cleared it and chute then used weed burner to get the last of ice / snow out . Then continued heating it until it was totally dry . Then used almost a whole can of cooking PAM on every surface including augers and blower / chute . Wow , it did not clog while doing neighbors driveways and it was throwing snow about twice as far . Took my little Geo Tracker on prescription run for neighbor and one trip to a store also , along with a welfare check on neighbors 98 year old father . Ready for next two storms !

That's some chore. Good to see you check on neighbours. That really eats the snow. Take care and stay warm.

Windshield washer fluid will keep the bottoms of the doors free as will almost any alcohol. If you backed into the shop, they you could blow your way out.

What no snow chains on the tractor? To hlpe keep the cutting edge on the blower from digging into the stone what I have heard from guys that use a plow to plow snow off gravel driveways is to take a piece of pvc pipe about inch and a half cut it to length of the cutting edge maybe a bit shorter to make it easier to put on then put in on the table saw and rip it down the length of the pipe but don't cut it into just cut thru one side the slip it over the blower cutting edge it's supposed to keep the cutting edge from digging into the gravel and blowing the gravel into the yard. You can do the same for a snow plow cutting edge.

I'm from Québec , Canada and we're waiting for that west coast blizzard to arrive here. We're expecting 3 feet of snow and close to 0 visibility. I'm ready ! ... I open my small driveway with an electric snow blower. This time it will be a mix of shoveling , snowblower and take it slowly, I'm 65. Here, 3 feet of snow is not unusual but this mean that I'll get 4 and 5 feet at certain spots

My dad did this through quite a few years in boonville ny. He had a rear mounted pto drive blower on a big jd tractor which he used just about every day. Even if new snow didnt fall from storms, the 300 foot driveway would get filled with snow blowing in from the surrounding pastures. Tough way to live but he loved it.

Boy that blower really throws dirt well! More of a harley rake LOL Country life is good we watch out for each other. Ya know we do that in big society but through welfare and other government programs that separate us from our neighbors and their needs. I don't think its a selfish gesture in the country to help others, knowing you may need help in return. I think it shows the raw reality that we do need each other and though it may be raw, it is honest and interacting with your neighbors around need helps to understand each other better. Americas strength is in her people, though we may be a bit divided, together is the only way forward. Be Well and keep warm

We in New in Southern New England had a storm like that last March. Amazing going outside and listening to the trees cracking and falling down. My neighbor lost about 30-40 trees and numerous shelters they had for their animals.

Great Vid! So we have a similar set up for our cabin tractor except a blade for the back and no cab. We were taught that if the snowblower is eating rocks or dirt to adjust the skid plates up and let a few inches of snow "lay". This gave traction for the trucks/tractor. If we then wanted it completely clear to blade the rest off on the return drive with the plow. We were cleaning excess of 2-3 feet of snow in central Idaho though. Great set up Enjoy the SNOW!.
