Congratulations, when I got mine, the lady at immigration rang me 2 days before Christmas to say that I’d been approved but the paperwork would be delayed because of the holidays. She wanted me to have an early Christmas gift, Kiwis are awesome!

Congratulations Carrie! My mum ended up waiting quite a few years for citizenship, more out of laziness to complete the paperwork though 😅she arrived in NZ from the UK at 6 months old and finally became a citizen at 55, it was a pretty big deal when she finally got it!!

I've enjoyed seeing your journey - it's given me some idea of what to expect if my partner and I were to ever move there. (I have citizenship, and he would need to apply for a visa.)

Did you know that you can vote as a permanent resident? As long as you live here for 12 months or more and have at least a resident visa you can vote in New Zealand.

You are able to vote as a permanent resident. They changed it a few years ago. Which I think is ridiculous as it devalues citizenship. Though to be clear happy you can vote. At the citizenship ceremony they give you a tree. So one less one to buy. Lol Congrats on the long journey ending. Very well done all around.
