I can imagine you taking over that weedy unloved plot next to yours-don't know if it would be allowed but the transformation would be fun to watch!

Your channel and content is so addictive, really informative and engaging thank you. You don't need the BBC , they want flowers and pointless lawns, not to mention the politics but your content is truthful and genuinely beneficial for our health so power to you my good man!

Weeds! Dod, man you're so happy you don't have my neighbors gardening before or behind or alongside of you! I've never known such folk for not getting after weeds until the seed heads have blown, especially the dandelions: it looks like a sea of sunny yellow over the back fence, but only for a while and then it's a grey-ish white and *then* the yellow's all in my kitchen garden and the turf lawn, too. I'm forever pulling or levering out dandelions, shot grass (will I ever be rid of shot grass!) and a few other pesky plants including something I'm hoping you don't have to deal with: pokeweed. Daren't mow it, it just keeps growing its root system even when the stems and leaves and panicles of flowers are less than 20cm tall; the only cure for this stuff is to dig it out by the roots, so you have my sympathy whatever weeds you're dealing with! About the carrots: that trick or hack, of using a plank over a newly sown row of carrot seeds is great because it keeps the moisture content of the soil steady enough that the seeds don't die on you which, I understand, they will if they go even slightly dry and if they're moist, then dry, then moist again, they won't germinate. Once the carrots have broken the surface, you can remove the plank. Also seems to me that I've seen a plank protecting some kind of seed in your allotment plot via your videos, so you must know this already. Still and all, I hadn't had any idea that carrot seeds were or are that sensitive....

LOL, blame poor, JB :) Can you get a frost net like Charles Dowding to chuck over your tomato bed? See if you can chuck some flower seeds along the path to your plot. It would look pretty in summer.

Ha, I knew it was just a matter of time 'til you started sneaking some plants into the vacant lot. Especially those extra standbys everyone starts to cover any loses. What a shame to just throw them in the compost. I wouldn't be able to resist either.

Hi Tony. I don't think you will have those plants you planted outside your plot for very long. Pigeons and of course slugs will swiftly find them. Why not put some fleece over your carrots? I think you will drown your tomatoes out with the other plants. Id put them in another bed. Keep pushing for that extra plot and grow some tall beans or peas, after all the trouble you went to build a bean / pea climber. All the best.
