Taiwanese here, just stumbled upon your video so I’d like to share some additional info: Those are actually face tattoos of Taiwanese aboriginals, marked after men score his first kill or women after she had mastered her weaving skill,as a symbol of adulthood, the face tattoo tradition was banned by Japan after Taiwan became Japan’s colony. This not only severely impacted the culture of Taiwanese people, but also symbolizes the history of Taiwan: Different foreign power one after another, occupying the island, trying their best to wipe out every culture, history and memories of previous rulers, as well as Taiwan’s own culture. The result is Taiwanese became people without history, forced to share the same history with their current ruler. Of course there’s a bunch of complicated background and details, but this is pretty much what the song is about, I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Hey dude, thanks for making this video and being interested in Taiwan's history. Just think that the title "I WANT TO JOIN THE TAKASAGO AMRY" is a bit inappropriate and disrespectful, as the soliders in the army were mostly Taiwanese aboriginals who were forced and threatened by the Japanese to go fight in WW2. During that period, Japan colonized Taiwan and many of these soliders didn't have a choice but to join the army knowing that they are only sent to be killed. Also letting you know that the traditional instrument "Erhu" comes at 6:28 in your video, not the one in the beginning (2:58), which is called "Guzheng". Again cheers for making this video, hope you can check out a metalcore band called Flesh Juicer who are also from Taiwan and really rock🤘🤘
