@@hotpackjay it totally fulfilled my requirements here in Germany: - small run around for mainly local transport needs - fun n funky - never ever any parking issues (I’m a press photographer and running from place to place - never had speeding tickets as it just wasn’t that fast (saved me thousands 🤣) - the petrol/gas station nearly faded from memory before I needed to refill - 700 km range on 35 liters… so rediculously frugal. - enough space to carry my kit, especially loved the split tailgate - most comfortable car I’ve driven in especially over a good distance 2-300 km, always popped out quite chilled and relaxed due to high seating. Yup.. did everything I required… hence the research

Just get the best one if you’re going to get one. I only have a conversion with a BBSHD but I’m really happy with it. I swapped the stock chainring out for a smaller one for more torque and have a cassette with a huge cog too so I have huge torque. Also goes 40mph when not in torque mode lol and I’m honestly completely happy with that

@@chuckwaardenburg496 there is also the befang ultra which is from the same company as the BBSHD. The Ultra is basically just a BBSHD that’s been beefed up with stronger parts. So instead of nylon gearing you get some kind of metal. You can upgrade the nylon gears in the BBSHD to metal ones anyway though. You can also get a programming cable that plugs into your PC and set it up more to your liking. You can upgrade the controller to turn it in to basically a dirt bike. I’m probably throwing too much info at you all at once now though lol and I’m not going to do any of that anyway. The stock BBSHD and 52V battery is enough for me. I’m not looking for a dirt bike although that would be fun I don’t think the frame on my doner bike could take the power. It already flexes as it is.

@@chuckwaardenburg496 yes my current setup is a mid drive and yes I did set it all up myself. You need a few special tools so if I were you I would watch some youtube vids on how to do it beforehand if you’re not the kind of person that is used to working on their own bike. Otherwise I’m not quite sure about bike shops because a lot of the time they don’t have people in there that are used to working on DIY e-bikes and might refuse to do it. You could give it a go though. I’ve always worked on my bike myself as I enjoy it and like to know how to fix something when it goes wrong fast also so I know it inside out so it only took me around an hour to set up the entire thing. It’s really not that’s complicated. You do need to make sure you get the right size for your own bottom bracket and that size should be in the specs for your bike. I’d say the mid drive was easier for me than the hub as for the hub if it’s in the 1500W plus range you need torque arms attached to make sure it doesn’t drive itself straight out of the wheel drop ins. And it was just a pain in the arse due to overheating and things as I like to do off-road riding as much as possible and won’t go flat out for very long before it cuts off due to heat. The BBSHD mid drive doesn’t have a heat cutoff though and will just fry itself if you push it too far or do things in a gear it shouldn’t be in drawing too much power for too long. The DIY thing is up to you though. I feel it’s simple enough even for someone that’s not really inclined to work on their own bike to do if you watch KZbin tutorials first but up to you

The problem is when sur ron first came out they were a class 2 ebike. Meaning no pedals and 20 mph cap. They came with a class 3 sticker silly enough while speed was capped at 28mph. Now you got people saying it still an ebike even though it goes 45mph. The website doesn't claim its an ebike anymore and is for offroad use only.

I like all the E Bikes, but out the box , nothing beats the E Ride Pro SS 2.0. 60mph out the box in sport mode. Im still getting used to it. The torque and acceleration are insane. They're good for getting around in areas where bicycles can go and to ride on the streets without having to register it(in most places), but having ridden stock and upgraded units, they can't yet beat a true fuel powered dirt bike with 125cc or more. Plus for heavy offroad use, they feel more like a bicycle than a dirtbike.

I have one, it is a sleight upgrade to e-bike that I owned. But then I got completely outclassed by a 110cc gas bike I built, then I did my MSF and my supermoto outclassed that. At most it is a stepping stone, but great if that is the level you intend to stay at. If you have a speed addiction, I'd say skip all the BS do your MSF and just get a ninja or a vrod or something.

The downside for me with talaria and surron is that the design they use is Very difficult to find parts for. There are dedicated companies that make bigger batteries and such for them but there is Way less companies making those batteries than regular batteries. You want a talaria xxx cause your on a budget? Expect to put in another 2500 for a new controller and battery (almost the same amount as the bike)

I love my two stroke those things are so quite and drivers don't respect bikers and also sometimes don't see us I wouldn't want to ride that seems dangerous

Surron bike are like the hellcat of ebikes! Any ebike you get your going to want to upgrade that's true, my bike so dope not a surron tho, I got an lectric 3.0 I modified it, two motors two batteries 1000w and cosmetically modified also
