Yes it does a bunch of tests to calibrate itself but the calibration is based on the weight of the 4 filaments at the time of the calibration, so it's possible the calibration is going to be different if for example you calibrate with full spools and then will less filament on the spools. Just a thought.

So I'm not going to discount or invalidate your opinion. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I understand that the Bambulab a1 is the best for most people who really are just into printing for art and figurines because realistically, that's how it is. But in my personal use-case, it's the worst printer for me and there's literally no mistake. I'm blind. Because I'm blind, I require my computer to connect to my printer so that it can interface and I can send commands through it using my screen reader. Thus, OctoPrint support. Bambulab is notoriously locked down which also means that OctoPrint is unavailable and does not work with the printer without some serious fixing. I looked into it and it just isn't worth all the messy stuff required for it to work well and unfortunately due to this, I can't use a Bambulab printer at all. I would've gotten an X1C if only I could use it. So, it may be the best printer for you and I don't blame you for having that opinion. But it isn't the best printer for an entire community of blind 3d printing folks and I just wanted to point that out.
@3DPrintSOS
@3DPrintSOS 21 күн бұрын
I appreciate your opinion on this! To be 100% honest, I didn’t even consider that angle. The lack of support for the blind is definitely something I had no idea about. I did mention in the video that it’s hard to define “best” and you’ve proven that again. I think in your case, it’s a no-brainer to go for something else.

Yeah, that's the biggest problem with their printers. If somebody made a modification to OrcaSlicer which gave it a nice API controllable from OctoPrint, I think things would be a whole lot better. Or even a headless server fork of the slicer.

The "Bed Slinger with CoreXY Speed And Quality" claim that Bambu makes is really misleading to downright a lie. It's impressive and fast for a bed slinger, but you can very clearly see quality issues that come with that. Square corners at super low accelerations are still curved on the A1 mini where my Voron can make them way better at higher accelerations. Leaving aside that the 14 minute Benchy is a lie even though they claim in their marketing that it follows speed Benchy rules, when I compare my 10m benchy of my Voron with the pre-sliced 14m benchy of the A1 mini it becomes pretty clear once you start actually measuring dimensions. Where the back compartment remains even on the Voron at 30k acceleration, the A1 mini deviates by >0.5mm with visible corner bulging, and because they already slowed down the toolhead for "quality", this is a problem that shows up in more than just synthetic benchmarks. It's not a thing where the printer printed the corners at the peak 10k accel even, it was likely way less, and that's a serious quality issue. We had parts that needed to fit on a 1.9mm square pin, which printed fine on the X1, P1, and Voron, but had serious fitment issues with the A1 mini because it just couldn't print them precise. The actual acceleration that it can handle at similar quality is likely somewhere around

I LOVE my Vorons and I respect your opinion, but comparing a Voron to an under $200 machine that crushes out of the box is just…not a good take. Even my cheapest Voron, the V0 took tuning, knowledge, and tiiiime but more importantly , it was 3 times the cost. Vorons are amazing, but they are for a very specific type of person. On this machine, my kid or my grandma can print flawlessly from my phone. My Vorons require sequences of heating, special slicing settings, and color….yeah, now we’re talking about ERRCFs which are crazy complex. It’s like comparing an Camry to a fully built race car and asking a child drive for the first time in the street. Which you giving to them? No one is saying Vorons are any worse because of this. Actually BambuLab has made a massive push in the whole industry and has already helped push our Vorons to being better. Think the idea of the Box Turtle for example.
@theaninova
@theaninova 21 күн бұрын
@3DPrintSOS no no but that was not my point. I really like my A1 mini, and I'd never recommend a Voron to a beginner, it's just what I have as a corexy machine. My point was that the Bambu bed slingers are presented as way better than they actually are, in the sense that by watching most reviews you start to wonder why you'd even spend more. I was saying that you make clear tradeoffs that are visible in print quality, and secondly I think it's always valid to point out scummy and deceptive marketing no matter the price, and Bambu absolutely does that.
@GoatZilla
@GoatZilla 17 күн бұрын
@@theaninova I think you have a reasonable point, but it's somewhat poorly articulated and organized and probably not super useful for someone in the market for a printer. Particularly when it comes to quality arguments. "It's not as super gooder as another printer" isn't that useful, and this is why Bambu and other manufacturers are successful with "deceptive" marketing, although really how "deceptive" can they be with an industry that literally uses a fucking non-functional boat model as its benchmark? The triangle is basically speed-quality-cost. Here's a thought experiment. Not everyone really needs breakneck speeds. If you can turn down an A1 to approach "More Gooder Printer" quality, have you turned it down so slow that the price difference isn't worth it? If an A1 is 1/3 the cost of another printer but only had to turn the speed down to literally 1/2 for the same quality, that might seem worth it. Maybe half speed is OK, and if you're doing volume printing, you might still come out ahead by just buying a second A1 somewhere down the line. On the other hand, you can't buy 1/2 of the "More Gooder Printer".

Where can I buy this machine for under $200? My post is 8 days from your review. Looks like they don't ship to the US for that price and never have. Makes your review a bit dishonest. I would say I would never buy a Bambu printer myself. Because they are closed source klipper, they are have perpetuity parts and the big one, they force you to use their own cloud file service which means all your prints will be seen by the company and if those prints are your own designs fr selling Bambu will have the option to steal them! And the size of the bed is a joke! most small printers have bigger beds than this one and don't cost the amount this does. The printer maybe under $200 but if you wish to have the 4 spool system that be another $250 on top of the $200 of the printer so for $450 this don't seem worth it as you could buy a good core xy printer for that which also has a bigger bed and klipper. most people don't wish to do multi colour printing and allot just change the spool over to another colour if needed. Get a Creality Ender 3 V3 be far better than the Bambu as it is klipper open source, bigger bed, auto leveling and z off set and just less controlled by the company unlike Bambu.

@patricklebel1141 22 күн бұрын
To ease your fear and get you up to date, the bambu machine don't run klipper but a custom firmware. Yes it is closed, but seriously, it just work and you really don't need to tweak the machine outside the slicer. Parts.. Bambu Lab store has all the parts that you may need available to fix or maintain the printer. Cloud... No, absolutely not. there is LAN only mode so the printer stay on your network and there is the option to print from a SD card. And from firmware 01.04.00.00, the firmware may be updated ofline with a sd card. The size is there and there is the full A1 if you need bigger plate. Sure, if the plate was bigger it would be nice, but I guess that they decided to do it for a reason. The AMS is way more than just for color. Filament backup so when a spool runs out, the print can continue if there is a same material and color( don't need to be as long the printer believe it is) full spool on it. Interface material for support. Printing the last layer of a support with a different material can give you clean support removal. PLA don't stick to PETG, so having a thin layer of PLA between PETG support and the PETG object make support removal clean and easy. Did I mention having your 4 most used spools on hand and having the machine load and unload them four is something you cannot dislike. The best point of bambu machine is that if the creality are where they are now, as well as others brand is because the kick in the butt Bambu gave to the industry. I have an ender 3 PRO and I won't get another Endre since I use my completely problem free 1700+ hours X!C and the A1mini with 250 hours of problem free operation. Bed leveling, z-offset, klipper tweaking, first layer lottery,... All that will become obsolete once you tried it. And the Bambu ecosystem will make a difference for families, kids and beginner between enjoyement of printing or frustration of tweaking. You may not like Bambu and it is you right, but don't talk about what you don't know and spread false informantion to boost your favorite brand. Instead, criticize and push them to become better. The Ender 3 V3 may be a good printer (thank Bambu for that) but don't even come close to the Bambu for the casual user.
