Just to correct the position - the idea that masturbation is not haram in Islam is a minority position. Other scholars that DO permit it, give the disclaimer that it’s ONLY allowed when one is the on the brink of committing zina. I.e it’s used to protect from a greater IMPENDING evil, like you hinted at (not randomly whenever some feels like it). However, even in that situation, porn is never allowed of course. An extreme minority say masturbation can be done anytime - however, they’ve been widely refuted. Good advice nonetheless.

Only school where one of the FEW scholars allowed it, although considered it detestable is Hanbali school. Ibn Taymiyyah himself said it was haram and considered those Hanbalis that allowed it were wrong. Therefore, majority here is known. I don’t have authority to pass rulings of course, but I’ve studied enough to convey the opinions.

Hey there coach. Always appreciate your takes. I had quite a conservative upbringing. This combined with being raised in a western society typically meant that my interactions with women were kept to a minimum but my access to these types of content was widely accessible. This created in myself (as well as noting in others) quite a fear, perversion, and objectification of women. I was personally quite lucky - I think im considered attractive so when I did end up losing my fear of women, I found an incredible woman shortly after and have been quite happy since. I still watch these content from time to time (generally when our schedules don't align and I'm stressed with work) but it's not as absolute as "you will be completely desensitised". Some of my friends never made it out of this mold - and it's a sad sight to see. Nevertheless, no real point I'm making, just thought I'd share that while I largely agree with your take, there is nuance in this phenomenon

Then comes scholary consensus. So please be mindful of that as it is possible to misguide laymen like myself otherwise. Secondly, something cannot be not Halal (Haram) and "Makrooh" at the same time as by definition these two terms contradict each other. Haram earns you a sin while makrooh (disliked) does not. Lastly, masterbation is considered HARAM according to scholary consensus. Much love.

'Abdullaah ibn Mas’ud said, "We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while we were young and had no wealth whatsoever.
