Hey man I own a 04 530i with the m54 and it’s true it’s damn reliable. Just replace water pump, thermostat, rebuild disa valve with aluminum kit. Ccv system and vacuum lines and it’ll run forever.

Pretty much you named all the weak points once all thats replaced youre good. My first car was an M54 330ci i got from my Dad I ran it to 256k and ran it hard. Then passed it down to my niece and she uses it now at college she has had it 2 years no issues.

Love the content brother! Would you recommend doing the MHD burble tune on a n54? I've looked into it but had a bunch of people complain. Since you tuned your car with MHD I figured you would know if its good or bad? I'm also going with the VRSF race exhaust I have a e90 n54 sedan.

Your questions doesn’t make much sense. Mhd is great. Probably the most popular platform for these cars. User friendly and straight forward OTS maps are pretty good also supports custom tune for us go fast boys. Burbles are burbles. Very customizable so you can set it to your liking. Turbo killer tho.
