Thanks for the review! Bird is now the 3rd bike on my short list, which includes the VanMoof S3 / S5 and the Tenways Ago X. My checklist gets ticked by the Bird (carbon belt drive, auto-transmission, disc brakes, built-in lighting, wider tires so I can get out of my neighborhood on the trails instead of the roads). I've added it with the other two as initially the Bird didn't look like a solid bike from the ads I was seeing. I'd like to see fork suspension, but that's not a deal-breaker.

I own this bike and no, it doesn’t charge itself when you pedal. There is a removable battery (included key is required to unlock) which you can charge by plugging it up to the wall. However, it can be charged while the battery is still connected to the bike.

@@pappi187 I love mine! I’ve had it since September. I’ve been commuting to work lately, about 6 miles round trip, but I make sure to add a trail before and after work, so it turns into about 13 miles round trip. I am very grateful for the pedal assist option and charge it after each use (once I return home). Obviously, the more pedal assist you use, the faster the battery will drain. I’ve never had it run out on me. I’ve rode about 15 miles nonstop with minimal PA and it was at about 30-40 something percent. I’d recommend pairing the bike through the app for convenience of resetting the trip meter and also locking the bike. It’s a free service. Everything stock works just fine so far. To the handlebars I added a phone holder, bell and an additional headlight- plus a rear bike rack (Topeak MTX). It is really fun to ride for pleasure and my niece/nephews always ask to ride. I truly don’t have any complaints and hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!!

Carbon Fiber frame for $2,000? Most cyclists/commuters have a gps unit to track their rides and compare them to previous rides the controller/display does not need that info on a eBike... How much do you weigh? Back pack 25 pounds. Have you done a battery drain test at the 220 pound testing... Great filming and editing skill, thank you for this video...

Of course. All eBikes are still regular bikes and can be pedaled when the battery runs out. But eBikes are super heavy so it won’t be fun pedaling without battery

To those wondering, the bird bike at $2,229 is one of the worst e-bikes you can buy. It’s a 36v (not even a 48v) battery at 12.8ah so 36v X 12.8 = 460wh battery. Not close to the 504wh battery Vanmoof ebike they stole the design from. They advertise a range of “50 miles” but with a 36v 460wh battery the real world range at 18-20mph (obviously since you get an ebike to go fast) is 23 miles. For $2,229 with NO anti theft features. Rip off.

Thank you. I was looking for some data on this. But the Van Moof is only a 250 watt motor in the front hub. Beautiful bike, but I heard about a lot of quality issues with VM. Especially with the anti-theft auto locking. More tech = more problems.

Great review I was really skeptical on buying an e bike. I didn’t really know the year for it if I still had to exert a lot of energy into paddling but now that I see that the bike helps in that aspect I can use this bike when I go to work I usually drive to work. It’s about a seven minute drive but now I know that with a bike and a bike I will be able to get a workout in, while going to work. Thank you for the review. It was very helpful. I will buy my bike today.

If anybody is considering buying this bike, PLEASE DO NOT! Bottom line is the bike doesn’t work, what I mean by that is the motor on it will sometimes work and sometimes not, after awhile it just won’t work at all. Customer service is horrible, they told me they would replace the bike but just gave me back the same bike wrapped up again. I’ve since read many similar reviews with the same exact problem I have, so this isn’t a one time bad luck thing, it’s a design issue, don’t get this bike!!!!!

i think it should give you no assist when you have 7-8 % battery cuz how do you have front and rear lights on and your display.
