Great discussion. A couple of points - panoramic sunroofs on offroad vehicles are not good. I have had them shatter due to the stress of body flexing, begin to rattle due to long drives on corrugated roads, and don’t even get me started on loading big heavy pointy metal things on the roof with all that glass exposed. In other countries where they actually use Land Cruisers appropriately the small sunroof is more appropriate. As a Land Cruiser 200 owner, and a Land Cruiser driver since 1987, i mourn the loss of the V8. The V6TT doesn’t provide any better mileage or range? That is really what we were asking for. Not more power. The Land Cruisers capability has never been based on horsepower.

I hope you guys do a. video that really focuses on the actual off road capabilities of the Premium vs the Luxury vs the Overtrail. Up to now no one seems to really identify those differences. From what I can tell the only FULLY OFF ROAD capable is the Overtrail, for obvious reasons. The Overtrain pretty much is equipped like the GX 460. How about the Premium and Luxury, what can you actually do with those?

Hey guys, thanks for posting! I noticed you didn't mention (or check ) the GVWR differences between the Overtrail and the other models. There's a 60KG (or 132lb) difference, thus affecting the payload between the 2 models. I'm guessing the suspension is tuned a bit difference between the 2 models to account for those changes. But that's the reason the payload is higher on the Overtrail models

Dealers are not permitted by Lexus to sell over MSRP. Some dealers skirt this by adding "protection packages" and other garbage, like nitrogen-filled tires or key protection, but this isn't a Ford store trying to sell Lightnings for 50k over sticker.

@@jasonwood3 I have called almost all of the So California Lexus dealers and asked about their MSRP practices. All, except one, said that they do mark up vehicles when the vehicle is in high demand. One even told me that they load two dealer installed options on every vehicle that raises the price $4000. I will never go there!. The only vehicle that is being marked up across all those dealers is the new TX hybrid - anywhere between $5k - $10k…

You guys did a great job here. I am very interested in that Overtrail, but honestly I can't buy it until I see the 4Runner. And I would really like to see some real world tests of that approach, with the chin removed. I do agree with Tommy, those 'AT" tires are still pretty lame. They don't have the same depth of lugs you would see on a KO2. It would have been nice to see Toyota design the wheel and tire package around a heavier AT tire, not a light one.

Roman, I'll help you answer your question posed at the end of the video. I really like this format better than the in studio podcasts. It's more engaging. As far as the new GX... It's a bit of a conundrum. I like it, yet I like the "bones" of the previous generation GX. Tried and true V8. Yet the new one has better off-roading prowess. Due almost entirely to it's improved approach/breakover/departure angles. I like the tech and screens in the new one (old gen GX were so dated!). I understand it's time to move on with new engines, but the fuel economy is only slightly better. I guess when you guys can give us driving impressions that may alter my thinking on it. Design wise, I'd go with a Land Cruiser. I just think it looks better overall. Does the new GX have a "timeless" design? Or is this design (very angular) going to age badly? Time will tell. I like the Land Cruiser, wish the 6 cylinder powertrain (with hybrid) was available. Great job guys, I learned a lot. Plus I like watching the Father and Son dynamic. It's something my Father and I would do all the time (talk cars) when he was still with us. Awesome work, keep it up!

In talking about wheels and tires of old vs new. The 460 could fit 17" rims minimum and the 550 from what we've heard so far only go down to an 18" IMO not a big deal. Being able to fit 265/70R17s on a stock GX is pretty nice for being a very common tire for a cost/availability perspective.

I can’t be the only one who sees this exterior design is heavily inspired by the 2021 Cadillac Escalade. The only thing this truck is missing are the vertical lighting elements, but the exterior screams “I wanna be a Escalade” with the lines and shape of the new GX! Even that kink in the c-pillar is so _Cadillac!_ it’s coming out of nowhere for Toyota/Lexus.

Only thing I hate about the new one is the twin turbo. Lexus Toyota isn’t making since about doing this since fuel economy isn’t better. Makes u think their wanting to sell a less reliable engine to the consumer. Because everyone knows how reliable the V-8 is. So that’s what I mean when saying doesn’t make no since at all. What I do want to know is something know utuber has told us is the 3.4 twin turbo fuel injection does it have the 2 ways to inject fuel in to atleast keep things little cleaner in there. After looking at these in person, I'm a little disappointed. Cabin feels cramped, especially compared to the TX or even an X5. Third row is virtually unusable. I can't believe fuel economy is still so poor after a new transmission and moving to a six cylinder. I know they say the hybrid is coming, but gosh, 15 in the city is pretty bad. Styling is kind of...meh. All of the colored front plastic is going to get pitted and destroyed from rock chips and it will be super noticable. This was a very overdue redesign of the existing stale GX, but all in all I'm questioning whether I'm going to stay on the list for the new one or get something else.

I can appreciate Roman’s old school approach at times too, however, I believe the vast majority of people who watch this kind of content are entertained by the information itself rather than the personalities of the presenter(s). Roman’s personality often overpowers the content which is distracting and time consuming. When Tommy takes the lead, he ensures that the vehicle takes center stage and does so consistently. Also, the amount of information that Roman can deliver accurately and efficiently pales in comparison to Tommy. This video would have easily been 30% shorter if Roman held the camera and let Tommy do all of the talking. Tommy is simply much more professional and prepared than Roman is in almost every scenario and I think Roman needs to take some notes.

You are correct. I had a chance to look at, and sit in them this past week in Scottsdale at the Barrett-Jackson auction. It seriously felt like a new RAV4. Door closure even sounded same, empty hallow thunk when shutting. (like there isn't much to the door). Soul-less instrument cluster and a tacked on iPad sized screen to the dash. Toyota was also there with a 1958, but it was locked so I really couldn't do that comparison. Don't get me wrong, the GX in nice, great size and cool styling, but price wise, just too much for what you're getting.

Why do the interior features minus the drive modes have to be so different in the luxury and off road models ??? Why can’t you choose comfy seats and have all the features of the luxury model on an over trail or vice versa ? It be cool to have all the same interior options you want on either model and then you just choose if you want a luxury suspension and drivetrain or off-road suspension set up and drivetrain .
