As an Israeli I can tell you that when this movie came out it was a HUGE deal for us, me and my friends all watched it multiple times and were so excited to see our country, our music and our actors in a big "hollywood" movie. Could I ask, out of curiosity, what about Israeli culture was actually correct? Like, the drink they always mentioned looked really good and I kinda need to know if it's based on a real drink.
@bluewhale2000 Жыл бұрын
@@DiegoAlvarezBeltran1993. that's a great question! Just looked up the plot to remember it better lol, I'll try to my best to answer. First of all, no, the Fizzy Bobelach drink is not real, unfortunately. It's just a joke about product placement in movies, and the drink has a Yiddish sounding name. Most of the soft drinks in Israel are the same ones america has. It does look tasty though. The other big thing they got wrong is the name Zohan? I've never, ever heard of an Israeli person who had this name, first or last. His last name, Dvir, is very popular (both as first and last name). So why give him this weird name? Maybe they meant Zohar, which is a real israeli name, but there's no way they let a mistake this big slip through. Now for some things they got right: eating hummus with everything, the concept of "captive trading" (israeli government releasing a terrorist from prison so that Hamas will in turn release a captured soldier, unfortunately this happens a lot), young Israelis moving to the USA to work in sales, make money and come back some years later (I know quite a few people who did this), and the popular game of "matkot" usually played on the beach (the one Zohan and the Phantom play with a grenade). Some additional things: the first scene was really filmed at the beach in Tel Aviv and even features some Israeli models. The actor who plays Uri is actually very famous in Israel (he even voices spongebob in the Hebrew dub), and so are some of the other electronics shop employees and soldiers. The movie features some songs by a very popular rap group called Hadag Nahash, mainly a song called "Here I Come", which was already a huge hit but got even bigger because of the association with the movie.
@DiegoAlvarezBeltran1993. Жыл бұрын
@@bluewhale2000 Damn, I was hoping the drink was at least based on something real because it does look delicious but on a very serious note? Thank you for shedding some light on your culture and the things the movie got correct, it's appreciated!

The reason Mariah Carey is in this is because she's mixed Black, White, and Latina. Nobody thought she should pursue singing because it's not a "real career", so her school counselors convinced her to do something else. After high school classes she spent afternoons in beauty school learning to cut hair. She had 500 hours before she graduated high school, quit, and went to Manhattan to pursue singing.

As someone who hates Adam's Sandler fart humor. This movie is so cool, i love his journey through his passion, and all the message of "you don't have to do what it's expected from you, even if you're the best at it" and how that's translated to "we don't have to keep doing what our people have been doing for decades, let's let the hate out and living our lifes" WITH THE BEST HUMOR ❤️❤️❤️❤️

One episode, Luke r@ped Laura (like there was a whole scene where you can see it start and hear her object). People were so pumped to see them together finally that people were actually happy that he did that. The couple ended up getting married in the show. It is insane. My mom told me about it a couple years ago, and I couldn’t believe it.

It was nuts! Oh, and when they got married it was the most watched thing in daytime tv history.

@@BrianSherman-TheTVGod This makes people super uncomfortable, but humans have a lot of wiring for this kind of thing. SA is a major part of our history. A huge chunk of our female ancestors were carried off by neighbouring tribes after being assaulted. A whole lot of them fell in love with their captors and raised the children of great warriors who would do the same to new women. This is not in any way a defense of sexual violence. It is simply an acknowledgement of human nature.
