I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. This presentation is also great for small streams and creeks with deep holes. I cast into some spots today not expecting anything to actually hit it just practicing and caught bass where I didn’t expect them to be in some hidden creek pockets with overhanging tree stumps.

I bought some plain 90° #1 hooks after watching this video to try out some Hover rigging. I don't own any good fluke style baits atm, so I took a 3" Z-man Minnow and cut the paddle off. Rigged the hook about 1/2" from the nose and managed to insert a 1/16oz nail weight. Went to the local small river (it doesn't hold any fish really) here in Sweden to try out some new gear+baits, and the action on this Hover rig is absolutely like nothing else! It acted a bit like an erratic lipless crankbait with the line tie not being at the nose tip. I'm sure some other plastics will do the same on the same rigging, but it felt like the semi-flat top of the bait and the floating tail helped with this. Can't wait to try it out properly (for perch = "our bass") in my somewhat deeper and clearer favorite lakes!

I’ve fished this hook two occasions two different locations. Both locations I had bass inhaling this thing with a Roboworm sculpin. First time I used it was across from ST. Louis Zoo and caught a small bass within 5 minutes on my third cast. I am excited to see the damage this presentation can do here. So far two short trips to the park and I’ve caught 4 fish just messing around in spots I didn’t expect to catch anything:) loving it so far!!!

Cobb caught 28 of his 32.15 in a 24 minute time frame. Fishing a craw slowly 3/16 weight, boats all over the area.👍. I picked Cook and Swindle. Cook will catch 20+ tomorrow off beds and Swindle will catch 20+ worth of pre-spawners covering water. They will both make championship Sunday.👍

Love how hover strolling is finally coming around in America! The Japanese have been utilizing this technique for almost 15 years !! The company Fish Arrow Japan has been using this technique with the Flash J Shad with several different rigs . The spine rig / small jig head nose rigged etc. I’ve been talking about this rig for over ten years to my local friends. I actually put a video up on my channel 2 or 3 years ago about it. Talking about how you can even use a 1/4 oz scrounger head and get even more action and still a nice fall/hover! Great video!!

Ordered a few of each when the first video came out, and after seeing it in the water, I'm excited to use it. I have some goby in an aquarium because I was curious to see how they move/ behave and that flatworm perfectly mimics it. They spring off the bottom and slow sink parallel to the bottom without much body/fin movement.

I have no idea why it hasn't become more popular. In my neck of the woods, I'm catching everything on it. This rig in pressure waters will catch you fish when other lures simply won't work. Some of my best days fishing is on this rig.

I fish BFL as a coangler, I think this could be a killer rig for me in tournaments. The lakes I fish in Indiana are highly pressured, finesse tactics can really shine!! Although I haven't caught any yet, just playing with your Hover Rig is pretty sweet! It has definitely found a home in my attempt to downsize and rig 2-4 multi purpose rods/trip...time to share...M. Balzz gets credit, for the Cast Prodigy swimbait rig. Also a hover rig with a secret chamber for a belly weight and nose-hooked. Tough to beat this 2 hook setup for cruising the shoreline for a couple hours. Got any plans for a heavy cover version?

For future weighted hook designs, a Design Patent is comparatively very easy to do compared to Utility Patents. It just protects the look of the weighted hook, but If it's the most practical and most popular design, Design Patents can protect your Idea. Especially if you can't get a Utility Patent because of time or resource constraints, Deign Patents are the way to go. Sometimes the Patent Pending label is all you need to buy yourself more time. I'm learning then process myself right now.

You can file a provisional patent too it’s only 100 bucks but it establishes a document that shows you were first to put it on record in a publicly viewable way. Most times you don’t need a real patent just need to establish you were first in the courts eyes

@@joeys7519 provisional patents only last a year and an official patent application needs to be submitted before the end of the year or the patent idea becomes public domain. You are correct in the sense that it establishes a priority for the first to declare the invention, but that's all it really does. Provisional Patents are not usually made because they publicly disclose your invention once it is registered in the patent search database. This makes your invention vulnerable to being copied or improved upon by potential competitors. It also prevents you from making improvements on the idea that will conflict with the claims in the final utility parent. They also severely limit the time you have to file a patent application. Completing the necessary requirements for a Utility Patent applications submission, ie prior art and patent searching properly can take longer than expected also. Design patents don't require the engineering, operational, or manufacturing descriptions that most people are not capable of writing. Provisional patents do. Also, once the product is disclosed or sold to the public, without any prior declaration or filing for Intellectual property rights, the invention loses its novel or non obviousness designation. Design patents are for protecting intellectual property rights of physically tangible designs where as a copyright or trademark protects graphical designs and audio creations. However, just for the sake of argument, if a physically tangible design (aka industrial design) also has a physical or ergonomic purpose, and is made of one unified piece or material without any moving parts, it can be somewhat protected even for utility purposes if it is also used as as logo. In that case it would require it be registered as a Trademark. A good example of something like that could be a keyring that also functions as a clip or hook, or even a bottle opener. It just has to be made of one contiguous piece of material. For utility protections. But , of course, utility patents are more specific and cover the entire scope of the invention instead of just the looks that might also have a novel utilitarian purpose. Mailing a letter to yourself and keeping it sealed after you receive it, is another myth lots of people tend to believe also.

I know this is off topic per this video but can anyone recommend their favorite rod for chatterbait mini max? I have a glass rod I love for regular jackhammers but I cannot feel the blade thump while slow retrieving the mini and I tend to do better fishing chatterbaits slower. Thanks
