The haute horology independent De Bethune DB28 has a spring lug suspension system that was introduced in 2010. The lugs adjust to your wrist for extra comfort and use. A little different system but same idea. However... the De Bethune DB28 is over $65,000. So this Formex is definitely impressive for the price.

Good review, intesting watch and some some really impressive engineering! I know I could look up the price but it would be nice if the review included the price and perhaps some comments on how the watch stacks up against a price competitor as that helps show how much bang you are getting for your buck.
@naknakacknak4 жыл бұрын
He didn't mention the price, which I thought was very odd. Island Watch is selling it for $1,880, for a plastic watch. There's no practical advantage to the suspension system at all, and yet he keeps harping on it. I think if you bought it for $1,880 and held on to it for a year, you could probably get $20 for it if you were lucky. Here's a great alternative and you can save yourself $1,860.00. www.amazon.com/CASIO-MW600F-2AV-Sport-Watch-Black/dp/B004D35W8A/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=casio+plastic+analog+watch&qid=1600000982&sr=8-7

I really wish you would start giving the fit of the band. This one looks nice, and I love that micro-adjust system, but that does me no good if it won’t reach around my 8 1/2” wrist. You spent plenty of time in the band, why not give us its measurements? Great review as always Jory!!!

Great review. Don't normally go for microbrands but this build is really solid. Lume issue can be fixed so not a biggie for me but the brand font stops it from achieving that premium sports watch look. It was bothering me until you mentioned that other people have spoken about it as well. Still... a good addition for sporty folks.
@JustinFranza4 жыл бұрын
Really cool. I think it would be at the top of my wish list if they made it at 38-40mm. Would love to see them make a logo that was a monogram or symbol.
@moosabman4 жыл бұрын
Font looks like it belongs on a late 90's sports windbreaker. Sad when a watch loses over a logo (christopher ward has this problem as well). Microbrands should take a page out of Monta's book and just do something simple. Trying too hard just comes off "cheap". That being said, they seem to be offering one hell of a package for the price point.

A nice watch, given the design, engineering and interesting designs these are very well priced for Swiss watches. And although a niche brand they have been around long enough to be considered an established company. Their chronographs are excellent value for well finished ETA/Valjoux 7750 models.

All the specifications presented by the pieces of this brand, are usually found for a price 3 or 4 times higher. Come on guys, ceramic, carbon composites, suspension and buckle patents, chronometer certification, pffff. It is incredible what this brand achieves and the enormous value for the money they offer. Hearing the CEO speech, it's clear what they're after: clients who know exactly what they want on a watch without worrying about name snobbery.

Guys, I think it is a good watch and has it's soul inside. Today, the big names basically have occupied 99 percent of the market, and many microbrands are just making the watches homage to the big brands or just change the colour or the design language. At least, for this, I can feel their passion to compete with big names rather than just selling cheaper watches with similar function and design. However, you are right, it needs to be tested.

I do not agree with your reservation because "there is no threaded crown". I suggest you are looking in too negative a way. It has 100m of water resistance. Sure, your negative way of distrusting that claim may allow you to avoid some nasty finish to a machine, but, if you buy the watch, I think you should also have bought what the company have claimed. And 100m of water resistance will allow for swimming. If you don't believe what the company is claiming, why create worries, just don't buy it. I don't always try to be this positive, but good things occurred today, and I just can't be negative right now

@@triniboy05 Back in the early to mid 20th century, grand watchmakers by the names of Blancpain, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin etc. were all the craze and the mainstream in high-end horology. Then in 1926, Rolex released their first watch. They were not respected like the classic 3 because they were not a watchmaker in the traditional sense, with parts of the watch being outsourced to other watchmakers to manufacture (see Panerai for example) for many many years before they could buy the companies that produced the parts for them in the first place. They were laughed at because they had such little watchmaking equity compared to the likes of a watchmaker like AP - and they focused on pedestrian watches for everyday people more so than for the ultra wealthy of the time who desired true 'haut de gamme' timepieces. Rolex's history is built on ambitious founders, brilliant business tactics and marketing, followed by the consuming of parts manufacturers over time to qualify them to say their watches are 'in-house'. Doesn't make them a bad brand, quite the opposite in fact. But it was that new way of running and evolving a watch brand and business that allowed them to become what they are today. Yet I see many new brands today trying to break out with innovative ideas laughed at and can't help but think that the same cycle is repeating.

The fact that the bezel has recesses for the screws seems like too much faith into the fracture toughness of zirconia ceramic imo. But I mean assuming people won't handle a watch like a G-Shock I acutally don't really know how expensive watches actually break. Also the font looks like the watch is about to start in Formula 1, but we get that the watch is high tech, the meme is bad at the point that you do that to your logo.
