@@traviswrigg5158 I totally agree with you !!! The first Boldr Expedition Everest, was on their very first watch and they succeeded to get up there along side with the Seiko Alpinist, that was impressive seriously, I am one of those that want that original Boldr Expedition Everest back in production ! With the Boldr Venture they came back a little bit on the track that they defined with their main original style and it's what they do best !!!

I never pulled the trigger on a Boldr Venture because it doesn't have a date window (yes, I am one of those who like date complications on my field watches). I love the Venture's design though. Also considering a Mitch Mason but again no date window--that said, your Microbrand Monday's are killing me man 😁

The original Boldr Expedition--with the circular case, knurled crowns, and exhibition case back--was a nice clean versatile tool watch at a decent value (especially for those lucky enough to get it at the amazing $389 Kickstarter price.) The new models--with their blocky cases, chunky crowns, and closed case back--not so much. Sure the Sellita SW200 isn't the world's prettiest movement, but it's still cool to see the guts of your watch in action when you're bored. The Expedition is still a great rugged watch, but at $600, there are just too many watches on my radar that appeal to my aesthetic tastes far more than Boldr's current offerings. There's a reason why it's nearly impossible to find a used Expedition V1 for sale. Maybe I'm just getting old, but all these brands bumping up their prices constantly seems excessive. The Ventures are good, but now double the price ($150 to $300) for a change from quartz to auto. I would have preferred a $100 max increase for the addition of the Seiko SII NH35A movement (an NH35A only costs $40.) Now, if they relaunch the model one, I'll be more interested. I'd buy an original Expedition for sure if they dropped the price by $100. *A Boldr Expedition V1 for $499 or an automatic Boldr Venture for $249... sign me up!*

I'd be going for a seiko snk807 (blue) or snk809 (black). 37mm automatic all for around the 150 dollar mark. I've got more expensive watches but the snk809 still gets a LOT of wrist time. You can also upgrade them over time. I've got a sapphire crystal in mine and I've polished the bezel to give a slightly more dressy vibe. only thing i will say is you need to get an aftermarket strap (seikos straps are normally pretty cheep feeling). Go leather if you want the watch to wear thinner or a NATO if you want it to wear bigger. Hope this helps.

Honestly, I really don't care for the compass bezels in any watch. I understand the concept, but if you can't figure out which way is north, then you've got bigger problems, and you probably wouldn't be able to figure out how to find it with a watch anyway. That, and no matter how diligently you try to get N on your bezel, you couldn't possibly get a bearing more accurate than dead reckoning anyway. I love watches, but buying a real compass, preferably with a sight of some kind, and reading the Wilderness Navigation textbook annually is so much more responsible than using a watch. And PRACTICE using your compass.
