I'm waiting for the same model and same color. Unfortunately, I realize there was a lot of orange peel effect from the same model in the dealer's showroom... So as yours I think. Are you going to go through a wet sanding or a detailing and buffing with a ceramic coating should work fine? Thanks!

I recently bought a ‘23 Bolt EUV. The paint was pretty decent when delivered, but I did need to polish about a quarter of the hood and the taillights. Overall a good paint job and much better than my old Ford Focus

Coleton, I have a Pure Grey as well that is about 800 cars after yours came off the line and I have the exact same sanding/buffing marks on the grey paint on the passenger rear fender as seen at 6:50. Do you know if Makayla’s car has that same defect that was very early off the TN line?

What exterior protection did you apply to the ID.4? PPF, ceramic? On body, glass, rims, trim?

50/50. I think the new VWs are pretty ugly and cheap looking cars personally their designs are goofy and they use too much exposed plastic trim for my liking but yes generally they build them well.

I watch all of these and like them. One thing I struggle with is to actually see any defects when you shine the light on them. I am sure it is just the angle or your eyes that have seen so many of them but perhaps maybe hover longer over what you are describing and explain or point directly at the scratch or nib or circles so identify them better to help our eyes become better at detection? Other ones I was able to see a bit more, this video was harder to see any at all. Great job though and congrats on the new vehicle.

My 2023 RWD Pro S in Pure Gray will be coming soon and man I wish I could go to you, but alas I'm in CA not CO. Can't wait to see what you do, hopefully mine will be good quality as well. I was planning on getting PPE for the whole thing maybe, but am new to all this really careful detailing like you did on Kyle's E-tron. Do you recommend PPE + ceramic, or ceramic? I tend to get a lot of front bumper paint nicks/dings going on my local freeways, and want to preserve my paint as long as possible on this pricey vehicle more than any car I've owned before. I have no idea what to look for in a reputable car detailer/paint protection place. Thanks.

Coleton, what is your honest opinion on waterless detailing? I've had it done twice on my car with varying degrees of success, but I'm worried about there being not enough lubrication when it's being washed/detailed without water & what that might do to the paint.

When you have water readily available, use it! Waterless Wash definitely is a good product, but a high risk for scratches!

Consistent software from who? Tesla? On our model 3 I have had the driver assist systems completely stop working on multiple occasions, screen crashing and freezing. Not to mention the build quality is crap. I’d rather have a well built car with not the best software than a car with crap build quality and decent software.

@@nothere572 I'm going on 70k with my M3P and the panels have not yet fallen off. LOL Teslas are built like a tank. Minimalist interior and a few panel gaps does not qualify as poor build quality. It's unfortunate that you have experienced bugs with your software. No system is 100% perfect. However, the software package is second to none. The best IMO and unlimited software updates. VW has probably had like 1 or 2 software updates in the past 2 years and the overall software package is crap. They can hide behind Android auto and Apple carplay all the want.

@@nothere572 if your well built car is an ID4 then you are the one who is blissfully ignorant. Tesla's drivetrain is solid and their software is reliable. If massage sits and fit and finish is what matters to you in a car, then go get your ID4.

This chap seems to be a genuine "good guy" but suffers from classic CDO (OCD in alphabetical order, which is how it should be). His wife/partner would have to be a candidate for sainthood. The reality is that despite his best efforts, the resale value for a meticulously cared for vehicle vs. a daily driver is marginal. Eventually it will end its days in a salvage yard, with all the scars of years of faithful service.
