The water resistance in watches doesn't mean what you think. If a watch says "300m", it doesn't mean you can dive and swim around to that depth. Any depth rating means what a watch can be taken down to, supported on a line. In other words, you can tie a piece of fishing line to a watch, slowly submerge it say to 300m and the watch can tolerate it. What it cannot tolerate is actually moving your hand around at that depth, swimming with it. The depth rating means what a watch can go to in a static position only. So for example, to take a watch swimming, not diving at any significant depth, it should be at least 100m. Dive to actually 100m and move around at that depth and the watch will take in water.
@stavros_katsopr2 жыл бұрын
@@tomy8339 Cm'on Tomy, this is a joke comment, if i ever dive in depths like this i'd worry mostly if I (!!) take some water in, not the watch! Btw, got to check the water heater, must be on... again! (and then the bill can match the price of the watch!)🤪🤣🤣
@tomy83392 жыл бұрын
@@stavros_katsopr I wasn't actually being serious. Just giving some information that I think a lot of people didn't know. Most people aren't aware how depth ratings on watches work.

I hate that when you turn the disc to set the alarm other than 12, the bottom text is misaligned. I wish they kept the rotating disc clear of any text like the precious version
@DudeEsq Жыл бұрын
Great video. I love JLC’s heritage and innovation and want to like this piece, but the execution of the white date at 3 o’clock is heinous from a design perspective. Totally destroys the dial aesthetics. Best wishes for a prosperous ‘23.
@EddyTeetree2 жыл бұрын
I would agree EXCEPT a divers watch, already not needing a date function, has it placed at 3 upsetting the balance of the face. Such a shame and a definite deal breaker even with the amazing vibrating alarm function.
@DesignAtelier2 жыл бұрын
I disagree on the window on this one. The point of this watch isn't much about symmetry. But yes a date window is not needed for a dive watch. Over-engineered.
@chia-mingyang58042 жыл бұрын

@jameshoward97002 жыл бұрын
One of the most unusual dive watches and as THE JLC diver, I want to love it... I mean. Memovox, wow. But, the design has had water ingress problems in the recent past, hence the redesign, the movement is unremarkable (Memovox aside), small for a heavy handed diver and the dial/hand finish under the macro..? Yeah, unforgiving, but a GS would be crisp and clean. And half the price. JLC are in danger of the Richemont disease: brilliant design purity diluted by fashion, parts bin engineering and escalating prices.
@DesignAtelier2 жыл бұрын
Sadly I cannot compare JLC with Grand Seiko. As for the Richemont fashion issue, I’m not bothered too much of it. Purity and fashion and all that are all part of design to me. A good design is a good design wherever it may be found.
