In this video I talk about Shield breaker EMP Grenades and why I think they are the most overpowered item in Fortnite season 3. Shield breaker EMPs were unvaulted in the Metallica update and deal 80 shield damage to any player in its radius and disable cars in turrets effected by the EMP as well making them one of the best counters to cars in Season 3. I'll admit, I was not having fun with the season at launch. But having a proper counter to cars plus some balance changes (although I would like to see a range nerf on the fists) makes this season way more playable and fun. Give me a mid range weapon, a shotgun, EMPs, mobility, and fizz, and I'll feel decently confident.

I won a game last night completely thanks to EMPs. I never found a shotgun, and I accidentally dropped my gloves picking up all the medallions while I got shot. So I thought I was screwed, it was end game and I had emps, a burst and a bow, I knew I’d probably lose a close range fight against a gatekeeper. Well it got down to me and one other player who had just fought inside rebels roost and circle was pulling far. I saw a car with no more and I drove it up to the house, got out and nitro ran to circle hoping he’d take the bait and drive the car in. He did, I emped him twice in the car and then was able to win a fight, gold gatekeeper vs blue burst smg since I had a huge advantage in health. I’m still shocked my bait car idea worked 😂

I felt that. I dropped my gloves when grabbing the mythic AR (I use scroll wheel in place of the E key so it's easy to double grab items) and didn't realize it. I was less fortunate than you. Went to pull out my gloves in a fight and started using a med kit instead.

There is repair boxes around the map, if you use it you won’t miss the hp regen at all. Just stay in the wasteland and do runs around repair boxes.

With all the repair stations and repair boxes, if you're having problems keeping your car healthy you either don't know where they are, or it's end game where they aren't available in the zone, and in that situation it's completely op if the car heals on its own. That being said, I agree your opinion is not something I agree with.

EMPs are a bit OP and it’s tough to counter them unless you have mobility. I’m starting to play more at range to get good tags in before closing distance against players on foot. Cars are becoming death traps now, how the season has changed.

I don't know, I feel like there's still plenty of situations where cars are pretty good. Really you just don't want to let your enemy be TOO close to you (else they may enter your car, or EMP it) and keep your windshields away from them. I've still killed and been killed many times by them.

What medalion do you prefere Jake? Healing one or the nitro one, if you had to choose which one you'd carry. For me healing is damn great but the nitro one makes me play even more aggresive.

I think that an easy 2nd place would be nitro fists. If you dont have nitro fists (or shockwaves) and get attacked by nitro fists, you lose.

EMPs are insane tbh. Also they're pretty underrated i haven't seen anyone carry and use them against me yet. Also they dont really understand what's going on when i emp their car lol probably cuz they don't know how the item works. I didn't play much in ch4 and ch3 so I didn't know how they worked either

I agree. Not only is it powerful, it's also underused and when I use it against people often they're often confused as to what happened for a couple of seconds which is enough time for me to finish them off.

High ground thing is real. I lost a match once because I was not on high ground and I misjudged the arc of my throw with the emp... It was in a chaotic last 3 of the match situation. I was slightly lower in elevation on a hill next to the other 2 players. I threw my emp. It didn't go nearly as far as I thought and I hit myself with it. Then I was running for my life and ended up dying because of that basically. Even a Slight height advantage can make a difference. lol.

I dont find them to be that broken for cars specifically, I am more in the boat of them being broken because of their player damage. 80 damage on an on-impact explosive is WAY too much. The fact that anyone at any time can just throw an EMP and your shield vanishes is more of the issue than their car shutting down. My suggestion would be that they nerf the player damage from 80 to 50 to start, so thats exactly one extra EMP needed to break in ZB and wouldnt effect Builds at all, and if that isnt enough then go to 40 which is one more needed for both modes
