@@puptastic8888 yea I just thought it should only be a rule if is neck or higher if it hits the batter neck or head even if they swing then they should be able to automatically get 1st unless they intentionally lean into it. sort of like an infield fly rule

He was trying to swing but then realized and tried to hold back but the ball was coming at him super fast so he tried to keep his face away from the ball so it looked like he swung

I hit my one, and only, little league home run that way. I ducked a VERY fast pitch that was coming right at my head. As I ducked away and still holding the bat, the ball hit the bat. When I got up I heard everyone telling me to run. I had no idea where the ball was until, still running flat out and nearing second, I saw it just get over the fence.

Why do MLB umps make dumb calls like that? He was dodging the ball not swinging? What made the up say " oh, nope, that's a swing, strike 3, you're out. I don't care if the pitch hit you, you're out. Too bad for you". Stupid call. Why not call him on interference on the pitch too.

I thought that was ruled as hitting the knob of Joseph’s bat, but that is even worse. He didn’t swing, he turned to avoid getting hit in the head. I’m with Joseph, that’s a bs call

Personally I think they should rule that a hbp. Once the ball contacts the hitter the play should be dead, and he didn't make a swing by that point. Hitters shouldn't be punished for the motions they make while instinctively engaging in self-preservation.
