I suggest that you go and visit Vitalis villas. It's near Vigan too. This will bring you to Santorini, Greece 😊

The old buildings in Vigan were very common in old Manila once upon a time especially inside Intramuros and the surrounding areas until it was completely destroyed in WW2 during the Liberation of Manila in Feb-Mar of 1943. One surviror that lived in those districts said that the Spanish language seemed to have just vanished over night.

Nice one. Most of Manila actually used to be like this, but if you look at pictures from world war two you can see how the city was levelled by both the Japanese and Americans. After Warsaw it was the most destroyed city in ww2. It used to be called the Paris of the East, but there weren't many funds to rebuild the city after the war. The Japanese also deliberately firebombed lots of euro architecture to erase European influence. Bit of history.
@El_.57942 жыл бұрын
Its sad that the colonial city of Manila the forever ally and “brother of the Americans” was never rebuilt ‘cause the US preferred to help their enemy, Japan but the Philippines got her Independence after the tragedies of world war 2

Beautiful paradise Philippines don’t need European influence. It has strong biblical history in which they tried wiping out native beliefs and worship so that eventually follow their religious cults and worship their gods. Ancient natives of the Philippines has such a bond with YHUH our Creator, one true God. But much became misguided and throughout the centuries have passed down European (Roman) culty religions generation to generation. Wake up Philippines. Your great ancestors are Ibriy(Hebrew). YHUH’s people. Know where you truly stand in the eyes of YHUH. Blessings.

My father actually remembered how it looked prior to WW2, and it certainly was beautiful. Rogue Japanese soldiers decided to burn the city, after being told by their Japanese general to just evacuate. The Spanish architecture would have been a nice landmarks across Manila.

We were in Vigan city in 2012 on my vacation . I curremty live in USA. Those Spanish houses are well preserve. They were abandoned when the Spaniard were driven by the Americans in early 1900. I slept in one of those houses as it was converted into hotel in the 60's.

Talking about "siestas," the old spanish custom of siestas were very common where the stores closes in the afternoon and then open later in the afternoon. I still remember this as a kid in the 70s in Iloilo City. I no longer see this now, and stores seem to be open much of the day without the siesta in between.

Philippines is my adopted country. I live on the west coast of Luzon. I feel it is important to explore and learn about my adopted country. So I took my family to Vigan, 3 years ago. It was a bad trip. Too much construction. Could not find any parking for my car. The answer there is......don't take your big car. We will try it again. Been to Baguio. First time was 1973. It was a nice quiet mountain town then. Now, with so much construction and growth, it is just another big city, although much cooler than down in the flat land. Still lots of places to explore, and that is just on Luzon.

We were there last week and raining at night so the streets at night is empty. I wish it was not raining coz.its more fun at night and cooler. I agree it was so hot during the day, but windy. I love the wind on my face and blowing my hair. Here in Baguio city, I did not experience that. Its refreshing though. We went to our hotel and rest a bit and went out at 4 pm. The buildings are really impressive even though I went there many times. They preserved the old Spanish style house and buildings. The most beautiful BPI building I have ever seen is in there haha it was so elegant in Spanish style building. Lol The empanada is really delicious and so cheap. It was worth it to visit Vigan. Thank you for featuring Vigan. Go to bell tower it was built in 1571. :)
