Good story telling is when you can genuinely see the villain become the villain. Wyatt truly cared for these ppl and time after time did everything he could to keep them safe and well and they ignored and minimized his concerns and when Helen got him suspended, he snapped. He couldn't let their negligence bring home death to his family and earth. I really wish we knew more about the illness tho, like what was it doing. They were trying to use the plants to terraform, which I think is the word you were looking for. If the plants can grow on Martian soil then we could theoretically produce the gasses required to start forming (or rather reforming) an atmosphere around Mars which can then being to trap in further gasses like oxygen. Though because of the current lack of an atmosphere the Martian landscape has been saturated with tons of different types of deeps space radiations that our planet is protected from for about 4.1 billion years. This probably would have changed the soil, which in turn changes the plants. Then we start messing with things on a molecular level with growth compounds and we get unexpected and potentially hazardous results. Genetically modifying things we don't understand is a terrible idea lol. AMAZING Video series though! Loved watching it! Have you played both deliver us the moon and deliver us mars?

Well no, solar radiations, X and Gamma rays are yes lethal but despite the continuous irradiation from billions of years, the surface itself isn't problematic. We can easily walk on the surface of Mars. The real problem stays in the fact that Mars is a planet geologically dead. So no magnetic field to shield up the atmosphere from solar winds. Without that shield, no atmosphere. No matter how much gas you pump into the atmosphere. Because Mars already have a tiny atmosphere, but it is so thin that can't sustain anything. That is what Mars can keep without magnetic field.

Mars lacks the requisite magnetosphere needed to prevent the erosion of atmosphere from turbulent solar winds, which is why it lost its atmosphere in the first place. If we were to terraform mars we would first need to restart the iron-core dynamo that generates the magnetic field.

As much as I enjoyed this, I absolutely was so frustrated when Jack knocks out Wyatt with the tank and doesn't pick up the axe right away. There is no reason to not take a few seconds and embed that axe in Wyatt's skull right there . That and never picking up a possible weapon when you know there is a crazy murderer after you. Also, I'm not a big fan of games like this that pretend you have choices with these QTEs but the end result is basically the same.

I might be remembering some of this wrong, but this was encountered when testing people for mars and lunar missions. There is a mental disorder that people encounter when in a confined space which they can't leave. It often triggers violence and/or panic attacks. The first symptom is shaky hands. Someone not willing to admit that they were mentally unstable could invent an infection to explain it.
@connorjohnson4402

Yea but what about Helen? She would've been the one in contact with it the most presumably and shes never shown with any tremors or anything, Really think its implied more people are kinda loosing it more than anything, like what about the scratches on the vehicle doors? Plus I don't quite understand how Wyatt knows somehow the progression of this infection or what it might cause in the end stages of it because its not like he was treating or saw anyone that had gone fully through said infection. That or maybe he understands that the implied evil megacorp might just off him in the end, I was kinda wondering if they might've implied that the security team might really have been more of a clean up crew in a way, they had already been sending people to pick up the sample from the lab but when she made the call to Central they said that they wouldn't be able to get there for like a day but that call also alerts them somethings not right at the base and now 2 people outside that team were potentially gunna be looking around in the secret research place. I was expecting an alien life form as the real enemy, much like what the game suggested in the beginning. I thought it is gonna be a game similar to Mass Effect or something like that. This scenario doesn't happen in real life. If a psycho person like that harmed anyone, it would trigger an alarm in the entire community, considering all of the CCTV cameras that captured his crime, and get his ass arrested and locked up to prevent further harm to other personnel. Plus the fight scenes is unrealistic too. All in all the game isn't as good as it should be.

(I’m a bit late to this series lol). So it seems to be that the plants are growing and dying at an accelerated rate, which turns out to be linked to growing them in the planet’s soil with the compound - the compound accelerates the growth of the plants, but the soil contains a virus that is infecting the plants (causing them to eventually die, although at an accelerated rate with the compound). When humans eat the food grown in the soil, they become infected with the virus. The virus causes symptoms similar to radiation sickness. In an interview with James Tinsdale, he confirmed that the “claw marks” were in fact axe marks from when Wyatt was trying to break into the area Nick was denying him access to (hence why he 3D printed an axe) - the whole “claw marks” theory was just the crew mates being paranoid about aliens, and Wyatt wasn’t going to reveal the truth.

A spacesuit (which is what you would need for the surface of Mars--the atmospheric pressure is 1/100th what it is on Earth) should be hermetically sealed _and_ pressurized from _inside._ She should not have been exposed to anything at Ft. But then Jack would have probably eaten that food as well and would have gotten sick. Wait, there was a mention of a food pack of seaweed? In no world would anyone leave an obviously mentally unstable man with a weapon and just trust that they’d stay down long enough for you to go. In a life or death situation, you either finish the job, or the job will finish you. Not sure if it was the missed input or not, but in any case, it felt disappointing to see those characters make so many questionable choices. Edit: Yeah, just saw the last bit. It wasn’t the inputs. Just a poorly written story with characters making lots of poor choices. And at the end the backup got there the same night after they said twice they wouldn’t make it until morning? Solis shows off graphically just good the new engine is, but my true feeling is this game will just get left behind, and be a glorified tech showcase and not much else, again like 1886. which is sad, because like 1886 it has so many great threads and concepts there, but not knowing what it needed, more time, more money, better devs in areas where the weaknesses show like a dentist inspecting a sugar junkie's mouth, its hard to say anything else other than pretty disappointing@greengrugach1984

My impression of what they’re trying to do with the plants is possibly trying to do a rapid terraform of mars making pockets at the start then slowly making a atmosphere on mars similar to earths, though with the pockets be able to move groups of people from earth to mars slowly so that the drain on earth is minimized while also not destroying the work they’ve accomplished thus far on mars. Amazing gameplay by the way. Always a good time watching your videos. Please keep up the good work Fooster.

This game is truly a morality test of could vs should, & this ending is a lot to take in; jack being silent is the better call bc he needs to think & see well before he says anything. And he's seen what the infection & compounds 22-26 does to people. I'd stay silent until absolutely necessary if I was being rescued. I'd wait until I know I'd be committed to a quarantine bay then tell everyone there's microbial outbreaks that all starts in the soil.

This game is such a fantastic idea, with the voice acting and graphics really making it as good as it is. For such a great premise at the beginning, I feel a little unsatisfied with the ending because it leaves so much unexplained. Was Wyatt really just losing his mind from too long at Fort Solis or was he actually right and there was a disease in the Martian soil that was making the others sick? If it's between Wyatt and the contaminated plants, then what are all the hints and logs about people hearing things moving outside the walls on Mars and the claw marks on the door that they were investigating? I just wanted more answers about things by the time we reached the end...

i'm actually disappointed with the ending, they built it up SO WELL the first few chapters, I was expecting a virus from genetic tampering/radiated plant pollen or sap of plants grown from the collected radiated deep sample soil that humans then ingested from eating or breathing in to start physically mutating them (hence claw marks and door banging) Wyatt then killing everyone to prevent it being spread to other crew members on rotation and taken back to Earth to prevent mutated humans. I still don't understand why he murdered everyone else if it was just the contaminated soil samples that he could have destroyed. The shakes thing didn't make sense. Jess and Wyatt had it but Wyatt didn't explain it, and why no other symptoms? How was it supposedly transmitted to them if was only the under surface soil which Jess never went near before getting the shakes. The crew members were sick due to being outside for too long from general environment conditions. Jack was fine, no shakes, no nothing. The bees felt like a loose end, and the plants didn't look problematic or mutated. The graphics, voice acting, atmosphere and storytelling of chapters 1/2 were superb. The ending ruined it for me. Felt vague, rushed, incomplete and like another storyline team took over the end chapter and deviated totally from what was suggested was going on in the 1st chapter. I think it would've been better keeping Jack the whole way through, with Jess over communications, that banter worked brilliantly. There is a game called Moons of Madness which is very similar to this in overall general plot, except MoM feels like a more completed, well explained storyline with multiple possible endings too. If you were disappointed with the storyline ending in this, give Moons of Madness a watch. I'd love to see Fooster play that.

I like your take on the genetic modifications being the cause. The virus might’ve been contagious hence why he went on a killing spree The shakes was just a consistent factor he diagnosed in his patients, it was a supposed ‘infection’ that wyatt just concluded from his researches how could he have it already analysed and explained it? Take Covid for example nobody knew what’s was happening and nobody could diagnose it immediately, it took a lot while to revise an inoculation so its not realistically odd that he couldn’t explain it. And the bees prolly the ones apart from the cultivated veggies that spread the virus to humans considering there was a log that said some of the crew members got stung by the bees

Amazing game! It blends so well the storytelling with horror elements without making the game horror game. This is one of the most if not most realistic imagination of what could go wrong in the mars. The realism is so on point that curiosity overrides the feeling of being scared and thus making the game perfect for everyone who loves space related games. There is no scary aliens or horrible scenery with blood and guts everywhere, just realistic situation of something going wrong and mystery behind why that is happening. I really hope you try also The Invincible when it launches!

So there is no real choice at all, kinda disappointing in that way. Like quick time events dont matter, its more about doing other stuff? But then the qt events loose all meaning idk. It mostly sounded as if W went insane cause they left him out which is not a reason to go killing who you call your family.

@@TP-op9bb I dont think that is implying that its on earth but back in Wyatts room, If its supposed to be his home with his wife and kids why is there the photo of his wife and kids? Sure family photos and what not but its a bandage and like bloody gauze if they were implying that it was home and they opened it a prop of like and open box would've been much more effective at implying that. Plus you really think that implied evil megacorp that they are supposedly working for, or under, is just gunna let the guy who has been causing issues and potentially disrupting the research at the secret plant base just send a plant back home? i really think its more just Wyatt kinda loosing it, although I'm not quite sure how he knows what said infection causes as far as the symptoms progressing since it seems he's the only one that's really shown many signs and no one else has really lost it there or he hadn't treated someone that had it that had full progressed into whatever the end stage might be, at least as far as i could tell.

Really disappointed with the lack of consequences for the QTEs just because I was so immersed in the game - BUT if this was a prequel for a full-fledged game in the making, I'm all for it. They HAVE to release a longer, more fleshed out sequel after dropping this game on us with its phenomenal visuals and story-telling elements, and it would make so much more sense for the storyline to be linear then. The potential for a sequel is RIGHT THERE, with that epilogue, and with Jack undeniably going back home. Imagine what they could do with that- I just hope they do continue! I think what happened to Wyatt is something that would have eventually happened to certain people within the crew as well. In the beginning it shows Wyatt was a very caring person, that just wants to help his people and crew. Next we see that everyone in the crew seems to be brushing off his concerns. Then they cut his communications with his family. They then keep refusing to tell the truth about the situation. Eventually Wyatt finds out and confronts the team about, especially because bringing such a compound back to Earth is so dangerous. Then they suspend him, and he snaps. Partially because he knows that if the compound made it back to Earth it could harm or kill anyone he cares about, and partially because the disease or neurological chemical within it made everyone that came into contact with it eventually very aggressive. Just like the bees. Wyatt was infected with whatever it was because he talked about the first sign being a hand tremor, which in some of the videos he exhibits, so it just goes to show that he had been contaminated with the substance. In fact, the entire team was, as they were also showing signs of over-suspicion and aggression towards one another. An air of distrust was in the air. So we can assume Helen was definitely affected by it and due to the neurological stimulus to be aggressive, she actively ignored Wyatts concerns. If anything, it was a domino effect. The only one that didn't sound like he had been infected was Asim, so it's sad that he was killed off by one of the crewmembers that was already heavily infected by it (Wyatt).
@theodoretay4805
@theodoretay4805 Жыл бұрын
Thinking about it, the hand tremors might be a red herring for the narrative. It's a common symptom for stress, anxiety, tiredness, etc. From the audio and video logs, it seems that most of the crew were living under a lot of tension, might have been due to the situation with the power, ppl falling sick and the isolation of living on Mars. The whole infection thing may have been subconsciously fabricated by Wyatt under all that stress and limited information available to him. He knew Helen was working on something, he knew that ppl were getting sick with a flu outbreak and some cases of radiation poisoning. With the way the crew responded to his concerns, it is likely that it reinforced the idea he had that they were working on something that would cause sickness and was latching onto whatever evidence there is to support his claim.

That was excellent. I normally don't like story driven games because there's tooooo much story, but this had proper pacing and sensible dialogue to go with the atmosphere and mystery. And the characters felt like real people. What I didn't see was what Wyatt thought was so terrible. I was expecting genetic mutations and big sharp claws, but no, everybody got the sniffles while Wyatt got full blown cabin fever and went insane. I'm sure this is not the last we've seen of C26.

The game started off so well, it built tension and there was a fear factor. The communication between the characters was great too, but it all fell apart so quickly. The plot just got confused and became lazy. The devs probably got bored of all the walking around too. The ending was awful, and I'd be gutted if I paid for this game. Fooster did a great job of keeping us all engaged though. I was desperate for some type of alien creature and the game turning into like an alien isolation style survival horror.
