Crabbing season is right around the corner, but there are a lot of things that I need to get done before the season starts! The roof on the Southern Girl needs to be reinstalled, the problem is that it needs some reinforcement. I also have to get all of my crab line organized and knots tied. There are a bunch of little things that still need to be done and it feels like they are really adding up!

When the grease gun gets stuck, unscrew the metal fitting on the end of the grease gun a little bit(the coupler that fits over the zerk) and it will come off. Easier than changing out a zerk which may end up breaking off from rust.

Boy that shiny new engine sho' is purdy!. 😅 Btw if you ever need hinge pins and don't have any or can't find them you can strip the flux off of welding rods or use the correct gauge of non-fluxed rod. You just pick the right diameter welding rod cut to length and either spot weld one end or preferably bend the end 90° to give it an easy to pull on handle. They work great. In your application though I'd recommend stainless rod to prevent corrosion and a frozen pin in the hinge, lol.

Another option is one of those universal sockets that has a bunch of spring loaded pins in it and works on just about any nut or bolt regardless of shape or size.

When you do a "fish tape line" if you do about twice the length +5, 6 feet you can always leave the line in place and have a semi-permanent fish tape in place for next time, the extraz length lets you go back and forth completely both ways without issue.

As for roof. When you rebuild. If the issue is the holes on posts wearing oval. Then you could try the joining staple pads used to create roofing joists. Put them directly under the load of the bolts on the wood for extra support or you could try just metal strap doing the same. Or a size bigger pvc as a bushing to keep bolt from reacting and biting in. Spreading the load. Just seal the ends so no sitting water. Should keep it for the life of the roof.

Common issue on the hood latch. Lube up the small spring and lever on the latch itself. Then work the release until the handle feels like it has a touch of tension all the way through the pull. You'll need to first completely retract the release spring first. And then lube and work it. It's super easy with 2 people because the first 2,3,4 times you'll need to use a small screwdriver of sorts to retract the release spring inside the latch assbly. Good luck

Luke, I feel your pain when it comes to losing things. I've learned many tricks over my years in the shop. My only wish is that I'd paid more attention to my Dad's way of setting up projects like you deal with every year before the season starts. So here goes, could you find an empty p'nut butter jar that's big enough to fit your hand into that has a screw on lid? Take it to your project sight to put those nuts, bolts and washers in while you're working or something that won't tip over while you're working on the boat. Spray paint the outside of it bright orange. Put a piece of masking top on one side top to bottom before you spray paint it so you can peel it off after it dries. You'll be able to see the contents thru the clear plastic jar. When you decide you want to retire someday, start up a Consulting Firm for other crabbers so you can share your hard earned knowledge with others. That is if there are any crabs left to catch of course. Wishing you the best season EVER.
