As long as these Lebanese-Ghanaians are paying taxes into Ghana's Treasury, employing Ghanaian locals and building their families in Ghana, they are no different than the dark skinned Ghanaian. We know that Kwame Nkrumah said, " I am not African because I was born in Africa but because Africa was born in me" As much as it feels good to see a fellow black person in charge, we also know that some black people are not patriotic. What matters is job creation and prosperity for the local people and national development. America was built and is still being built by immigrants. We need other nationalities to be adopted in the Ghanaian family and history as we build a modern Ghana. Many rich so called Ghanaians are not investing to create jobs but spending their wealth in Europe and Dubai.
@Agboka4 ай бұрын
Yes, America may look to you as built by '' immigrants'' but its finances are not run by immigrants. The IRS which controls the taxes and the revenue is not in the hands of immigrants. Ghana's problem is the so-called elites help the 'immigrants'' to rob the nation with no patriotic feelings in their soul for the nation, and that's the difference between Ghana and the US.

America was built by enslaved Africans. It still prospers because it maintains a steady pool of exploitable non documented low wage labor. Is that what Ghana wants? When Nkrumah made the statement "I am African because Africa was born in me" he was referring to the African diaspora dispersed all over the globe because of thee Atlantic and Trans Saharan human trade. It was in the spirit of Pan Africanism!

Most of Ghanaian owned companies fold up when the founder dies. The lebanese and Indians have very good succession plans. Their children dont fight over company properties, who should be in charge, etc to eventually kill the company. The indian and lebanese companies are still being run by their sons. Look at Mechanical Lloyd, when the founder died the children bankrupted the company. Though it was listed on the stock exchange its no more.

The Lebanese-Ghanaians are bona fide Ghanaians. They have contributed significantly to the wellbeing of millions of Ghanaians and have always remained in Ghana through thick and thin. It makes no sense differentiating between indigenous and Lebanese-Ghanaians when the Lebanese Ghanaians have always considered themselves more Ghanaian than not. Most Lebanese-Ghanaians were born in Ghana or came to Ghana as infants and feel very Ghanaian in every way; the likes of Harry Zakkour, Faisal Helwani, the Irani Brothers, the Kalmonis, the Sangaris, the Sinares etc have all been great Ghanaians. Perhaps, people here may want to celebrate them rather than consider them as foreigners.

The Biblical answer to this tirade? " Surely men of low degree ( poor men) are vanity and men of high degree ( rich men) are a LIE, to be.laid in the balance they are altogether lighter than vanity ( Psalm 62:9). In other words, those who APPEAR to be rich mostly are liars, some having acquired their wealth through dubious spiritual dealings with negative forces, and poor are also full of vanity. Yes, strive to be RICH, but by all GODLY means, so at long last you can make heaven. It is VERY possible, for our God is the richest being in existence. Abraham and Job were the richest men in their day. And until America diverted from Godliness, it was the most rich and powerful nation on earth.
