Poker tournaments are all luck. It doesn’t matter what your adjusted winrate is, you have to get lucky 45 times to win one MTT. It’s not a sustainable source of income. If you have millions to invest, it’s probably wiser to invest in an entity or stock. If you take home more than $25k a year at your job, you’ll never consistently make that playing poker unless you’re an extreme luckbox. Spraggy is a perfect example. Poker playing related income cannot sustain. Stars pro and silver spoon allow it. So if your parents don’t give you a house, it’s probably not a good investment of time or energy
@chad0x2 ай бұрын
If it's all luck, how come the best players do better consistently?
@Spraggy2 ай бұрын
Hi Josh, you've left quite a few comments like this on the channel and messages on the live stream. Despite the best efforts of many, it seems the explanations of the economics of tournament poker seem quite tough for you to grasp. Many folks work very hard developing their poker game and are able to make a consistent living from it. Many people have used poker as a vehicle to build a career. I don't know why you consistently talk about it being "all luck" or requiring a "silver spoon" to get started. The mathematics of the game disagrees with you. You're welcome to argue against logic and data, but it's not a particularly compelling argument, nor is it a good use of either of ours time.
@joshwakirk14682 ай бұрын
@@Spraggy I’m unaware of any efforts by anybody to explain the economics of poker to me. I don’t think it’s required. Mostly because you think I’m saying that making a profit at tournament poker is impossible. A “living” is highly subjective. As is “consistently”. It takes a long time to play 10k games. Full time that’s still 6-7 months? 1k abi bankroll? Not to mention the mental to go through 4-5k game stretch’s 15kbb under equity. Maybe you can see why I’d make a comment about silver spoons. It doesn’t even mean money. It means the time, the freedom to pursue. And in my case, never make as much money as I do working. So in 4-5 more years, when I finally catch up to that adj winrate, maybe I won’t be so salty. Maybe I will, who knows.
