When The Verve produced this music I was going through excruciating pivotal changes in my life. I remember seeing them live on this tour... their music helped me face and embrace the painful emotions rather than running away from them. The alchemy of their powerful lyrics and music ushered me through that time, and I've felt stronger and more at peace for the journey with their soundtrack in my soul. Much gratitude!!

Absolutely superb, thanks so much for uploading. The band were at their absolute peak at this point, and the live shows were dynamite, as your film clearly illustrates. The momentum you’ve created is perfect for a young rock band on tour and very much on the way up. There is so much about this film I love. The live sound is perfect, the sound design is great, despite some inferior interview sources, the camera work is excellent and if you were the only one shooting, you’ve done a great job editing together scenes from different songs / shows. I hadn’t previously realised that The Video 1996 - 1998 VHS was largely culled from this film. I wonder what the story is here? Why hasn’t your film been available until now? Anyway, great job so happy to see this.
@andybaybutt5 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate. Yes, it was shot on my 16mm Arriflex, which was actually Derek Jarman's camera from the 1977 Punk Film 'Jubilee'. Not long after I finished cutting this with George in 1998, the band started having difficulties and so some of the things that were said in the film at that time no longer rang true. Subsequently, I was asked by Virgin to put out a compilation of our film work as a long form video when they split later that year. It is only available now as I have dug up the 16mm Master from under my stairs and transferred it to files.
