I was going to comment the exact same thing. It's like they saw Satisfactory was incredibly successful and decided to make a clone of it, then sometime through production they thought "How do we make this seem less like we ripped off Satisfactory?" and made it wonka theme'd. Chocolate Factory: "Can I copy your homework?" Satisfactory: "Yeah just change it up a bit so it doesn't look obvious you copied" Chocolate Factory: "Ok" A lot of it just doesn't make thematic sense, what is a "Chocolate Plate"? Why do you "Smelt" things?

Looks like a reskin, but is not. Given that Satisfactory has Pathethic pacing and is more for model-train or Lego-fans that like to build pretty things, any other theme than anti-environmental-colonialism is more likely an upgrade to that design. Most conveyor-belt games, that are decently realistic pollution-simulations with energy consumption, have the game-design issue, that renewable energy is MUCH better than everything else in almost every way, which becomes a balancing-issue. They have to artificially disable/nerf renewable energy sources to make more interesting choices and disasters. You either lock renewables behind higher tech+production tiers (where they then replace everything, once unlocked) or you only use renewables, or you SOMEHOW ban renewables. "Offworld trading company" uses renewables for all buildings, and semi-non-renewables only for transportation (in that you have to produce hydrogen from water). THIS seems to be the best solution.

PS: It seems like this is a scam developer that only does reskins of other successful indie games. He then pushes for early access. And as soon as he has collected the money he drops the project and starts the next game. This guy has 5 unfinished game on steam already that you can buy! Sorry i would rather not see them getting any support.

There is only so many ways you can have "mechanics". I think it's better to use what players like and are used to than try to come up with a unique but annoying way to play game. Even during this video Orbital said a few times that he'd like for something to be added( an it was a mechanic he knows from a nother game). It's not copying, it's inspiration.

@@zanetano But usually when you're inspired by a game, you don't just copy the exact same puzzles, ratios and stuff. It's clear that the mechanics are copied wholesale from Satisfactory without even bothering to make things match the new theme. What is a Chocolate "Plate"? It's obvious many of the ratios are identical, so you aren't even solving the problems differently to Satisfactory. Off the top of my head, I can think of a much more thematic way to do this: Use similar mechanics to the game "Big Pharma" where the machines can concentrate / dilute attributes of the confections, allowing you to optimise products for different tastes and intended effects. That's not been done in a 3D space as far as I'm aware, makes perfect sense with the theme, and offers space for interesting problem-solving.

I like the concept, it’s very visually appealing, prolly released a bit early but I’m looking forward to making chocolate castles 🤣. I hope it’s a huge map eventually with a decent storyline.

2:36 opens the video with it feels very early, me a dev damn those animations are big and the gameplay/movement looks like it feels really good. The hard stuff like player controller and env seems to be really flushed out I like it.

This feels like a very sweet version of Satisfactory- which is perfectly fine with me. Just a new game in the satisfactory genre, so this is nice to see coming. I do hope to see them branch out and actually allow those gummy drops and other sweets around the map be interactable as the game gets further developed. This is clearly an early stage of the game, but it looks good for where it currently is at. Hope they add the ability to make mobs friendly or something so they don’t immediately attack or agro onto us. Nothing like a factory building game getting ruined by adding in combat….. 🙄😒

Yeah wouldn't get my hopes up. The dev(s) have a tendency to jump onto trends and then abandon their releases. If you look through their releases on steam they released four games in the last two years and two are supposed to be released this year as well.

The game has the problem that it not feels like its own game. Pretty much everythink it does is taken from Satisfactory without any own spin whatsoever except fot the chocolate theme. Every little system works the same. Then to make matters worse it lacks behind in areas where sastifactory already shines. I would even claim they might stole the source code. Because somethings are too similar to be just a copy. Many of the "between" products not make sense in the theme. If i think chocolate factory. I want pipes with melted Chocolate, milk shakers, chocolate crushes. Energie should also be magical and not some "chocolate" wires. Everything about it smells. "Lets reskin satisfactory".
