Emet's lines are so good in this part. "As a show of respect to the last of us..." where he finally considers us to be one of them, worthy to carry on the legacy of Amaurot. "Save our star", calling it "our" instead of his or theirs. And finally, when he's preparing to depart and sees us reminiscing on our time together, he sees that we may end up being trapped in the memories of the past like he was, and instead gives us a path forward by listing all the places he has been and challenging us to go there. I love this story.

I know this is late, but I dunno.. I mean it may seem obvious he is talking about us, but maybe he is talking about Venat? She calls herself "the last of us" during your fight. And Emet has been talking about Venat just prior and seeing as he hated her with every fibre of his being because he had forgotten what had happened it makes sense he's reminding us that he went back to respecting her and understanding why she did what she did by aiding her plan to help us defeat Meteion in the end? I dunno, I thought it was us he meant too as a nice little gesture, but re-watching and hearing Venat say "the last of us" referencing herself made me speculate...

I love how they use music in this last zone, when you first arrive it's nearly dead silent. Then each time one of the scions leave a small part of the song is added, piece by piece until when everything is over, the full track is playing.

Omega is one of the reasons why Allagans were so technologically developed, as we learn in Omega raid. They only found Omega and reverse engineered a lot through it. They for sure didn't make it. Omicrons were way more advanced than Allagans. But yeah, Garlemald is HEAVY but Elpis and Ultima Thule are SO BEAUTIFUL and teaches us about life and humanity... What it means to live... This game is beyond beautiful... And when Emet says "Though you defeated me. My ideals are inviolate, invincible" and his voice almost breaks... It makes me tear up every single time. :'(

When Thancred got snapped, I was shocked. They might have actually done it, and kept him gone. The moment Estinien sacrificed himself, I knew that we were going to lose probably everyone, but we would be getting everyone back. Even then, I was on the verge of crying when we had the option to say "Stop. Don't say another word." And even though I knew we were getting them back, I still cried when we did.

thats the thing about good stories, even of they can be predicatable or cliche at times, if the story is good, if the writters managed to make you care for the characters, the world and what is happening, then, even knowing what will happen will still hit you hard, i mean, didnt eveyone knew basically how thing would end up in elphis and still got emotionaly damaged? Its the same thing for one note vilains, they can and DO work, but for it to be so, you need to be invested in the characters around you and the world, because then you caring abou those things go in oposite to what the vilain wants to do, its why i love zenos and the very real threat he represents, i remember how on the eddge of my seat i was duting the stormblood finale with hien, lyse and yugiri fighting agiants zenos body, because i cared so much for those charcters and zenos had shown to be a very real treat to those characters, same thing with the body swap duty, i dont remember sweating so much during a video game segment as i did that one.

Not sure how many noticed the same music played throughout the entire zone. However, it started with just the basic rhythm, awkward and muted. As they progressed, that same song became more clear and finally got the point of a lyric-less version. Then when Graha went, boom, finally then entire song,.lyrics and all appeared. And it will stay that way forever. I go there to craft and to hang out. Just for the music.

I really enjoy that Emet finally got what he truly wanted after all those millenia he had to carry this burden. He finally get to return to the star togheter with Hythlodeus, looking forward to the day when Azem's soul can finally join theirs. I've always felt like all Emet truly wanted in the end was to free Hythlodeus soul from being a part of Zodiark and find his friend Azem, things which would only be possible if they finnished the rejoining. So even if Emet lost he still got what he desired, Hythlodeus soul was freed from Zodiark and he found his lost friend as part of the WoL.

I loved how it was Emet telling us "hey - here's your next adventure"...... yeah - I had to do Ultima Thule in one take and by his point, I was pretty much tears. Didn't help that it was after midnight and I'd been up since 5 am.

I have a few theories on why you can't call your friends back. Firstly, it would be the WoL giving in to despair I believe. Second, remember that Thancred gave himself to be the air you are breathing - so if you call him back what would you breathe? And if you called the others back in despair then I would think meteion's sisters and their personae of the Ea, dragons, etc may return as well since your fellow Scions are what has countered their despair. So with those personae back again it would mean there is more despair than hope in Ultima Thule. These are just my thoughts. I think calling Emet and Hythlo is because they have creation magic, but they are also more aware of Meteion's beginnings and creation than our fellow Scions. But I thinik the purpose in the flower is partially to remind Meteion that she still hopes - and the flowers don't turn grey, black or even purple around her which shows she never lost hope either. So how can she say there is no hope and only despair?

Just a note that the Elpis flowers around her DOES have purple in it, it's every color for every emotions merged into one flower. It proves to Meteion that even though she deemed her realm the ultimate lair of despair, ultimately suffering is but one of the many emotions every living being has to go through and that's the beauty of life. Which links straight back to what Hermes promised her - upon her return he will gift her "a beautiful flower". Hermes doesn't consider the white Elpis flower beautiful (on the contrast he detest it in the cutscenes) because it's essentially just the Ancients brainwashing themselves into thinking their world is a paradise, so not only the flower isn't stained, it's colorless. So by promising Meteion a beautiful flower he meant after she return and give him the answer to life's purpose, he will use the knowledge to change society so that everyone can appreciate life at it's true value, and by then, the Elpis flower will bloom with all its potential. We fulfilled Hermes's promise to Meteion by showing her the rainbow-colored "beautiful flower", the answer both she and Hermes has been looking for.

It took me a second time rewatching that cutscene to fully grasp the meaning because at first i just saw bright Elpis flowers showing her that despair wasn't ruling absolute even here.The added nuance of them being rainbow colored to show the spectrum of emotions from despair to hope and happiness is so very well done. The more i rewatch reaction videos the more little details i discover.

She said the line from the trailer! \o/ Thancred is still Thancred. Emet dropping hints for upcoming xpacs, the cheeky bugger. And the upcoming 24-man. Very nice closing screen. I was shocked to see when the Elpis flowers manifested so bright and with some rainbow highlights, I knew then that Ultima Thule is no longer a place of pure despair and that there is hope that we CAN reach Meteion. So maybe... we can summon our friends back again with Azem's memory crystal + Mom's creation magic buff? and verily, doth ye correct. Excited for the finale and your thoughts on it!

I think he carried the crystal around with him while seeing those places in honour of his friend, and to essentially be with his friend on an adventure.

The implication only occurred to me seeing it again this time. Vanat also referred to an original bearer of the crystal which could mean she inherited it from him. It would all match up with the story Hythlodaeus told of Hades traveling the world helping people prior to becoming Emet, and also explain why he wouldn't have been the convocation's first choice as well.

Hythlo's shade told us in 5.3 that Hades created the Azem crystal in secret after our Azem had already left the Convocation, because defectors were 'deemed unworthy of commemoration.' Also, Hades says in Elpis that Convocation members only step down when they're ready to die- and that Venat was unusual for deciding to live on. If Hades himself was another Azem emeritus, that comment wouldn't make any sense.

My personal headcanon is that Hades and Azem/The Player were lovers before Shit Went Down. That look the PC gives Hades at the end to me just screams 'but but but... I just got you baaack!' Hades meanwhile knows exactly what Azem is going to do and heads him off, because that puppy dog stare has done him in too many times before and he's too fucking tired. He's gonna go take a break and then we can go on another adventure.

The worst part for me was the fact the Scions willingly sacrificed themselves so that *we* could keep going. It reminded me of what Vitra said at the beginning that we are connected to so many people, that they get involved in our problems. Even when I knew that they could come back, the fact that they believe in us enough to kill themselves really got to me.

G'Raha using the line "eternal wind" was such a nice touch as his leitmotif is playing which is "Eternal Wind", and the most memorable song in Final Fantasy 3 which Shadowbringers very heavily borrowed from. Will be interesting to see if they do appear in a future expansion, in their next life. Not sure how they will manage it since the devs seems to want to keep the idea that every expansion happens back to back without any time in between them, although I've always seen the real time elapsed as the best way to see it.

At one point it was said that Meteion was small. But if you recall when you first go to Elpis Emet-Selch increased your size to be comparable to them. Meteion was about waist high to Hermes. I(as a mid height Hyuran female) was about knee high to the Amaurotine. Which means the tallest Au Ra male would probably be about waist to chest high to Meteion. Which would be kind of scary to see a big Meteion towering over you. Either the developers forgot about this fact or Meteion somehow altered her own size to be her relative size as when she met you in Elpis. The Emet and Hythlo being relative size could just be the creation magic. Plants and animals can be explained for their size due to the sundering.

That bloody Ambystola (or however you write that word...) XD I found it in Labyrinthos when you show the Loporitts around: with the same looking glass-quest you can see it on some random tower. At least now I know where it went from there XD 47:15 ---- The flowers were our idea :) Remember what Emet-Selch said before: that they would fuel the creation but what form it takes is up to us. This quote of Hermes was said in a vision of the past (in the past, yes) that we had with Venat. Emet and Hythlodeus werent there with us, so they wouldnt know. But flowers and their rainbow colors show that we have changed this realm enough to break Meteion's hold over it: the changes our friends began are now new reality so their continuing struggle isnt needed anymore. Meteion herself started to change, bit by bit. At least, thats my interpretation :D Also, keep in mind that Emet and Hythlodeus are actually stunted :D As Ancients they should be about two or three times taller than us - I can imagine this would gall Emet XD

FFXIV: Here are all your friends back in reconstituted bodies! Me: Why didn't we give Y'shtola her sight back. But man, that walk broke me. As someone who has been playing the game since 2.0 released, hearing the voices of all the friends I've made given me support was just too much. Also, it's just Emet being a tsundere. Emet, Hythlo and Azem were basically inseparable friends and he sees his friend in you. They always had plans to return to the star together, so he's going to be waiting for you.

Because Sailor Moon often faces situations where all her friends are dead/captured, and then she finds a way to bring them back. the "cyrillic" F in "Hope Not Found" is actually the greek letter "phi". the triangle "D" in the same quest name is the greek "delta." numerous greek letters are used in the quest names at that section.... as well as in the naming themes of the omicrons. "Omicron" itself being a greek letter, for one.

This whole part of us losing person after person. Friend after friend when I finally got to this part I broke down even though I knew they would come back to us it still was not easy. After his part I actually walked with the twins to the top and stopped to over look the land we traverse....to see how far we have come and who we lost on the way to Meteion. So when I got to the twins sacraficing themselves I choose the option "I cannot lose you to!" Cause it got to the point it was to much. Even broke down afterwards cause was not easy to lose them all and be completely and utterly powerless to stop it.

Also, I'm sure you've come to realize this by this point since you would've finished the MSQ but there's a lot of flavor in this expansion that you just don't get if you haven't done all the (normal) content in the game. We were told about this beforehand by the writer that we should probably complete all the raid stories as well as the MSQ and after watching your MSQ run I've gotta say that it differed from mine a great deal. Sure, we hit all the same major points but where you're left to speculate about certain things and how they tie in I directly have that information as dialogue leading to unique branches in cutscenes having completed the content that it draws from. This isn't the first time FFXIV has done this, mind you, but it is the first time that it's all over the expansion as opposed to just in 1 or 2 scenes. If you ever go back to rewatch cutscenes at an inn you'll notice a little mickey mouse looking icon next to some of the quests which indicates that there are multiple versions of the scene or scenes in the chain that are unlocked by completing different parts of the game. New Game+ for Endwalker is confirmed to be coming in 6.1 so there's certainly still time to go back and finish up those raids you may have skipped over. Some of them unlock further content in the game and it all just adds to the inter-connectivity of the game and it's content.

The bit with G'raha (and what comes after) had me in tears. Even knowing that they would come back eventually it doesn't make it not hurt. Alisaie voice actor absolutely nailed it too. Meteions theme song hits real hard too, so beautiful. Also the overall message in this expansion is really really good, something a lot of people need to hear.

In regards to your questions about Omega's origins, it goes into that during the Omega raids of Stormblood. I don't remember off the top of my head if you posted a video of doing them, but if you all ready did it you can rewatch the cutscenes in an inn

*Omega/EW spoilers* . . . . Yeah, Omega was created by the Omicrons. Based on the lore of the Omega raid and what you piece together from the quests in Ultima Thule, Omega was their strongest weapon of mass destruction. They sent it to the Dragons' planet when they were putting up too much of a fight. Midgardsormr in his prime, at the peak of his strength, was able to beat it, but not destroy it. He realized that Omega was repairing itself and learning from their fight and becoming stronger, so he took his eggs and ran, eventually coming to Etheirys. Omega got itself up and running enough to give chase, but it crash landed and was discovered by the Allagans. They reverse-engineered Omega to create a lot of their tech. You actually get to see what overpowered Midgardsormr looks like in the Omega raid. Definitely worth checking out.

Yeah Omega was not built by the Allagans. they found it, and reverse engineers some tech from it, which is how they became so advanced themselves. It also wasn't the leader of the Omicrons, just their most advanced combat unit. This is mentioned in a side quest in Ultima Thule.

Coming in really late, we have a LOT of adventures to come and have through the patch content too. We've got 9 years left of XIV and the new expansion should be announced at FanFest so keep a close eye on them. Should see next expansion around April or May of next year as they usually take 6 months after 6.5 and We're only getting 6.4 on Tuesday.

I don't know if you guys saw it in Sharlayan, but that little abastoma fellow is also chilling on a ledge when you do the scope mini game for the loporits when they're wanting you to find details on the area (when you're waiting for the goods to get delivered to the city by your many connections) :D Something I'm just now realizing though having watched your video....I also thought Emet was talking diectly to us when he turns back to look our way, but I believe he was still talking to Venat, like you do when you're mumbling loudly to yourself ya know? Because while we are much more whole than other fragmented Ancients, we weren't "The last of our kind" like Hydaelyn says of herself when she challenges you. So when Emet says "And so, as a show of respect to the last of us," the two moments finally clicked in my head and now I realize he was still grumbling to Venat that whole time lmao
