This is my favorite Fleetwood Mac song. I named my youngest daughter Rhiannon because, besides being a beautiful name, I was watching this EXACT same performance on KZbin when I was pregnant with her and she literally FLIPPED in my belly!!! I knew she was Rhiannon.

My grand daughter is named Rhiannon. My hubby wouldn't let me name my daughter Rhiannon so I named her Stephanie which is Stevies given name! HA! I slid it right by him 😂😂😂😂😂😇😎. You should listen to Say You Love Me❤❤ which Christine sings ( keyboard player) who's voice is also AMAZING l don't think she gets enough credit and she's also a great song writer. Much love to you I love your reactions ❤❤❤

I love that name I think I may name my future daughter that if my kid’s father likes the name. My parents listen to Fleetwood Mac so I’m 28 and happen to love this song. And inspired with Stevie. I like Christine too. 😁

I'm so glad to have found your channel a couple months back, have been enjoying many of your reaction videos but this one is one of my favs as FINALLY someone has the studio version of this performance ( not the live ) and this is SO much better... My dad sent me the link to their video a few years back and it's easily one of my top 5 performances of anyone I've ever heard, Stevie is one of if not the best female artist of all time to me and her performance here is just next level, the way she gets so lost in it near the end and as Mel said invokes Rhiannons spirit ( I truly believe this ), the only other person I can think of off the top of my head who got SO into their performance was Prince, the way he'd get lost into his guitar solos was just mind blowing just the same with Stevie in this video... thanks again for sharing this version

Stevie Nicks wrote the song based on a character in a book called “Triad” written by Mary Leader, you can still find this book online or at a library. This video was from 1976 when Fleetwood Mac was on the long running tv show on ABC called “Don Kirschner’s Rock Concert”, which was an hour every Friday night and had all kinds of musical acts, the deal was the had to play live, or at least the vocals had to be live. How many of today’s acts could do that without auto-tune or dancers? Stevie still performs “Rhiannon” at every show because it’s her signature song. She stopped performing it so aggressively in 1980 because it was too much abuse on her vocal chords night after night on a tour, and her doctor told her she was going to do permanent damage if she kept it up.

Also when Stevie found out and read the story of mythology "Welsh Mare Goddess Rhiannon", she said she realized that that was the story of who she was singing about in her song, somehow she "picked up on it", as the story talks about Rhiannon being surrounded by "3 birds" and the human that fell in love with her. Also the Welsh mare Goddess Rhiannon was punished for something she didn't do and her punishment was to go to the bridge of the castle where anyone who entered there, she would have to "offer to carry them" on her back. It's a long story but Stevie Nicks lyrics in her song pretty much cover it.

This was one of the greatest performances in my 60 plus years of listening to music! She was inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Once for F.M. the other a solo artist. The gentleman next to her playing the mean guitar is Lindsey Buckingham. One of the greatest guitarists ever. Great voice also had a great song I'm in Trouble in 81. This was phenomenal everyone killed it. Big fan of Stevie and Fleetwood Mac.

I know this is a year old, and I would love to watch your reaction to their 'other' Live version video. You will know by the difference in their clothes. This vid is a rehearsal or practice run before the real show started hours later, which I believe was 'Midnight Special'. Both of you had great emotional reactions towards Stevie, and she was indeed fantastic. This song deserves another take by you guys ...

Agree. This was from a special done on the group and their process. There were interviews and also 2 other songs, I believe? One was "Go Your Own Way" where Stevie has a top hat on and is tearing up badly during some of the song and then goes to the side of stage at the end, hand on hip. Tension was palpable. They need to see the one you're talking about because Stevie takes it to another level. Woah. Special performance.

By chance, I met Stevie Nicks in 96 in Philly when her limo driver asked me to watch her limo, so he could join her inside a jewelery store that opened at midnight -just for her. After I watched the car, I went in the store and sat on a red velvet loveseat and talked to her for 10 minutes solo, then walked her to the car holding her hand. As she got into the car, I said "I'll never forget you, Stevie." And she replied "I'll never forget you either. " I'm sure she has, but I often try to think about the fact that she might remember that encounter and it makes me smile.

Just love you two, can tell you are just good people. That album charted singles from all 3 singer song writers in the band. Legend. I was 10 when the rise of the new Mac began. Then in junior high Rumours hit the charts and we were blown away, Fleetwood Mac then became one of the biggest rock bands of the Era, with charting single after charting single. 3 singer song writers, two of them women. Harmonies like heaven. The male lead singer was one of the greatest guitar players in rock n roll. One of the women singer song writers a great blues keyboard. The other woman singer with the charisma of a goddess and and emotional soulful style of performance to rival anybody in rock n roll. We loved that band. By my senior year Mirage came out, love that album too. Love that band, they helped get me through junior high and high school.

Wrote the song in 10 minutes...man, people with talent like that can't even tell you how they do it. They don't know themselves. The lead guitar player for Kansas wrote a lot of their music most notably Carry On My Wayward Son and Dust In The Wind. He's the same way, it just 'came to him' one day when he was 'thinking about stuff' (I'm paraphrasing but that's pretty much what he said his process was). He said dust in the wind was a case of 'listen to your wife.' He said that the famous finger picking part of the song started as a practice exercise. He never intended to actually use it for anything. He said he was practicing and his wife said, 'you should do something with that.' He said he was annoyed she'd interrupted and said something along the line of, 'its just a drill, stop bothering me.' and she stopped, faced him, jabbed her finger at him and said, 'no, you need to DO something with THAT.' He said he gave it some thought and, a few days later had written dust in the wind.
