Let's get back to the days when we had most manufacturing done in the US. People were doing well and prices for essentials were doable. I don't remember clothes being made overseas. Food was produced here, unless it was something unusual specific to a particular country.

That is where the tariff come in by making the price of goods go up so America can bring back manufacturing in the USA. America can only be strong again when we don’t depend on other countries and we manufacture our own products. It will hurt us but it will bring back jobs in America. China is selling their products at a loss in order to shut down manufacturing in America. For the pass 10 years, many manufacturers were closing down due to unfair competition.

Neither the governments of Mexico, Canada, nor China will bear the cost of tariffs; it will be the final consumer who pays. In the United States, most products, such as 70% of those sold in supermarkets like Walmart, are imported. Would the population be willing to absorb a 25% increase plus an additional 10% in tariffs? It is unrealistic to think that large companies will return to manufacturing in the U.S., abandoning countries with much lower labor and operational costs. And if they did, would Americans accept wages similar to those in developing countries? These measures will only lead to an increase in the prices of everyday consumer goods, hitting the lower and middle classes hardest, while the wealthy and large corporations will simply adjust their prices to maintain their profit margins.

What would Mexicos alternative be " no we refuse to to help secure our borders" and choose a protracted trade war instead? Corporations will eventually move back but most manufacturing jobs will be automated. Corporations hate unions and they see workers as a liability. Labor is too expensive and machines are more efficient. Plus companies won’t have to worry about vacation time, benefits or sick days by going automated. We should do it though. Most people will be wiped out financially once inflation collapses our economy but those that have cash on hand have the opportunity to become wealthy. Hopefully Trump is able to get rid of Jerome Powell because he is going to need someone that is a wizard with the fed interest rates. Because of low wages in Mexico to build vehicles. But if for example: Ford vehicles are built in Mexico, when sent to the u..s., the consumer is paying the value of the vehicle plus the tariff already applied on the vehicle by the seller. So if a car that costs 20,000 dollars, add a 15 percent or 100 percent tariff on it, it doubles the price of the vehicle. That's what Trump dies understand

tariffs are bluff. No one takees it seriously. The moment you impose tarifs on any country that manufactures things for the usa market the same moment your prices of literaly everything will go up the same amunt the tariff is. And lets be honest, you cant afford moving manufacturrng bases back to USA. Why? One example, here in Poland upper middle class(consideered rich/well off) salary of manufacturing hall manager of production is... 2500-3000 USD for a month, average worker in the manufacturing monthly wage is...1000-1300 US Dollars. Its a really god wage, you can support your family with it, cost of daily life here is cheap. God luck with moving production back to USA without raising prices of everything about x3-x4 times or trying to find workers that will do the job there for the same wage we do it here. On top of that is also universal healthcare free for us(paid from taxes but it costs us less than 80usd a month in taxes) and a month of paid vacation every single year. Dont get me wrong, being mean wasnt my intention, I love USA, you are great allies of Poland and good business partners but cost of livng and cost of everything else is extremely high in USA in comparison to other countries( one year of work in USA allows average person here to live here for about 3 years without doing anything). Before imposing tariffs etc maybe try to fix your eecnomy and cost of living there because now USA is not really able to compete with any country in terms of workforce and cost of living. Now we can produce goods and export them to USA, sell them for 3-4 times more than they are worth here and its still cheaper than the same product that is made in USA. For us here doing business with USA is like playing game on easy mode wth cheats, no real competition from USA. And its not just us, look at aldii and trader joes, both are own by german brand(aldi) and simulate compeettion between them so the average american can live n their bubble of illusion that they have choice while in reality both stores are own by the same german company. Same goes for cars, almost no one here buys american cars, not because they are to big for our streets and consume much more fuel (we can afford fuel) but because american cars are really poor quality when you compare them to even simple model of european or japaneese cars, now its almost impossible to see american street without at least 2-3 made in germany VW cars or Toyota or KIA, the same goes for clothes, electronics etc, (look up why apple with their iphones even today dont sell well here, again quality). Btw, Donald Trump was right when he said that USA became a thiird world country just with lot of money. Im 42, I remember times when we imported from USA, the label Made in USA stood for quality and longevity of a product no matter what the product was but those times are long gone, now we all export on mass to USA. Those are just facts. Fix your economy, fix your overinflated wages, combat inflation, fix healthcare (at least third of US ctizens cant afford healthcare), and most importantly fix the woke mob and their bs because theiir politics is what ipares your economy the most(the hiring process not based on competence but on identity politics is just bollocks).Oh and fix Hollywood bcause its what all the world have been talkinbg in last 10-15 years and it really doesnt weell for your image abroad, dont get me wrong, all countries in the world have thse deviants but to let them take the whole industry and the whole city is just crazy(where are those over 300k confirmed missing kids? Dont you have any laws there? And please can you finally stop meddling in affaiirs of every single country on the clobe without first understanding those countries cultures and customs, thats the thing that gets you most hate all around the world, you come to a place, make a complete mess there with your poliiciies and then you go out and move on leaving trail of bodies and carnage behind. Taake care and help only those allies that fulfiill their role in nato, look up who spends thee most of their GDP on military and meets the mandatory quota for Nato spending and forget the rest that are just relying on USA for everything. Last but not leaast fix your education system, 1/4 of my family lives in USA, legally, and work as dooctors because yur schoold have so low standards and are so expeensive that you dont have enough doctors to take care of your own ill citizens. If you dont know how to fiix migration problem then you can learn from us, we did it and it works, streets are clean and safe for women and all ciitizens day and night everywhere, google youtube video by Tyler Oliveira "country that kills illegal migrants". I really hope that Trump wil fix at least some of your problems.

Uhmm...you do realize the North American Free Trade Agreement signed in 1992 had the exact opposite effect. American companies pulled up roots and moved across the border to Mexico for cheaper labor, less unionization and lax environmental standards. (American automobile manufacturers kind of screwed the pooch on this because a major part of their customer base were their American employees.) The increased traffic flow made it so only 20% of containers were being inspected at major ports of entry. Information subsequently hidden as a national security issue. It also put family farms in Mexico out of business as products from American mega agricultural corporations began pushing their products South and unemployed Mexican farm laborers began migrating North in greater numbers.

You want to see an actual American do something or get something done. Tell them that they can't or are incapable. Less art degrees, go back to welding school. No more political science majors, get a civil engineering degree instead. Less philosophy doctorates more STEM. It's all fun and games until you have to tighten your belt and get your hands dirty, and America has never been afraid of that.
