I love that they got Blake Stadnik back! I adored him in Season 4. It's a bummer he wasn't featured more on the show. I have a need to learn more about Jack's journey.

@@Lorgayle1 I wonder if this part of the timeline is between when Jack and Lucy got engaged and before Lucy was pregnant with Hope. No signs of a baby, but it looks like they moved into a house? Jack’s place in Season 4 felt more of a bachelor pad vibe. So I figure this is when he made it big enough to sell out a huge venue (I’m thinking that concert scene from Season 4) but before baby Hope. Any thoughts?

They mentioned something about a scar on Jack's head caused by the smoker Toby got and the blowup that lead to the divorce. I wonder if Toby wasn't watching Jack or was distracted by something or someone and that leads to him getting hurt and the fight

Sometimes depending on the types of blindness, you can see perceived lights and shadows. From what I understand he has one of those types of blindness.

@@Ashely56 There aren’t very many types of blindness where the person can see nothing at all, from what I’ve heard. I, personally, am considered legally blind and can only see light from my left eye while my right eye is fine, but not exactly 20/20, either. There are other types, of course, but that’s just the whole thing from my perspective. I really think it’s cool that they not only showed us what life looks like from Jack’s perspective, but also highlighted the fact that blindness doesn’t necessarily mean that he can’t see at all. In fact, only 10-15% of blind people can actually see nothing; which isn’t to discount their experiences at all, but rather to credit the show, in a way. If this were a lesser show, I feel like the flip to his perspective would’ve come up completely pitch-black dark as if they’d put no effort into it and not like it did.

When future Jack first appeared, he explained to his future wife at the restaurant that he could see some light and blurry shadows. This is Us rarely misses on the small details that lead to future scenes ;)

The beginning scene I see contracts Rebecca saying kids only remember the good stuff. I like that it contradicts that, keeps it light and then also interesting and foreshadowing

It was very interesting how Toby and Kevin’s life decisión kinda contradicted in the episode. Kevin took a job he hates to be closed to his kids and Toby took a job away from his family because he didn’t feel fulfilled as a stay-at-home dad (?)

Somehow I don't think that scar was caused by the smoker that Toby brought home. Some other accident happened while they were cooking that caused the cut. Otherwise, wouldn't he have burn scars?

I feel that its gonna be kate with the principal of the school, i mean toby is so into the kids and making a really good home even do he is away and fulfilly his work, kate its gonna bounce in some time because i think in some point she would have a breaking point like his father do when se had the triplets, but toby wuold be so hurt that she cannot be forgotten

@@DanielMartinez-yu5fn at the end of this episode they show a scar on his head so I'm assuming that in the past Toby buys the big green egg isn't paying attention and then little Jack gets hurt from Toby's inattention which leads to the fight that "blew up their marriage" mentioned at the end of the episode.

I LOVE these new future scenes but I wonder as parents with a special needs child, one who is blind. why would they buy a smoker, i mean those are dangerous, they have two small children. small kids start grabbing things and touching things that are harmful. I'm not saying never get a smoker but wait until the kids are older and let your blind child be more aware to his surroundings.

As the sibling of a blind person who has been a productive member of society for decades, you aren't doing your child any service treating them any differently than any other child. My parents allowed my sister to do everything that the other kids did. Sometimes it worked, other times it didn't. My sister has very fond memories of the 'fails' like riding a bike. She is grateful for my parents being brave enough to stand back and let her have those experiences when their instincts were to keep her in a protective cocoon. It gave her the confidence to set out on her own and make a life for herself. She went to college in another state, she fell in love, married, divorced, and fell in love with the man she has been married to for the last thirty years. She worked for a large public utilities company until retirement and then became a 911 operator for nearly 10 years. She is now fully retired and travels as much as possible with her husband. And if you want to rile her up, try to do something for her unless she asks for help or treat her with pity. Yeah, not a mistake anyone has made twice. She is amazing, though she would disagree, and I am proud to be her sister.

@@carolinadreamin2411 I have absolutely nothing against parents with blind children who let's them take chances and let them live as normally as they can. I'm happy that your parents allowed your sister to be free and not setting limits for them. But as a nurse who seen so many kids come into the hospital with burns and injuries from a parents careless purchase such as a smoker is higher than you think. Blind or not. No matter how careful parents can be kids are kids and will grab at things that can permanently leave scars it's a traumatic thing to the kid.

Jack is going to get burned and even though it was an accident and could have happened to anyone kate is gonna get all high and mighty and act like it's all Toby's fault and blame him. She's either going to leave him or be so cruel about it that she pushes him away

My guess is that, while older Jack may be still blaming himself for the marriage falling apart, the reality is going to be that this was just the final incident in a string that leads up to that point. We are already seeing the signs of not being on the same page.

I can’t help but notice we never see any of the other family members, not Kate, Toby, Beth Randall, Kevin, Deja, Annie, Tess, Nick, Franny, no one thus far that would be important in Jack’s life I can’t help but wonder why?

The scenes we get with adult Jack are usually pretty short and fast, there’s probably no reason to bring them in. I would like to see Toby or Kate though. As for everyone else, he might not even be close with them. Hailey is the only family member I could see potentially being in more scenes with him. Besides his parents, she’s probably the closest to him.
