Belgium might not be a representation of all of Europe, but it can surely stand as an example for Western European cuisine! In my local Carrefour it's actually forbidden to film according to the sign they put up recently. They are not the only ones, seems be a trend.

@@LaurasLifeInJapan I can understand that you are not allowed to film other people (privacy laws in Belgium) but the interior of their shop ? I often take pictures of products and send these to my girlfriend so she can reply if it is exactly what she wants (especially cosmetics). And I guess many people do something similar.

Carrefour is a major super chain, but it looks very cozy with a clerk you know. Belgium chocolate is also famous in Japan. I heard that many families in Belgium have ovens and they cook sweets at home. In Japan, the number of double-income workers has recently increased, and I feel that I can not afford to make sweets. What is the situation in Belgium?

Hey! Thank you for your comment and sorry for the late reply! yes indeed, many families cook sweets at home in ovens. Especially cakes, pies, and cookies are often made by families with children or just by people that live by themselves! In Belgium the number of double-income families where both the husband and wife work (fulltime) is very very high, there are not a lot of housewives. However, since the working conditions in Belgium are quite good, people can have a good work-life balance (for example go to work at 9am and be home around 5pm). There are people who work longer/shorter or sometimes have over time but in general, families have enough time to spend together and sometimes bake things like this ^^

以前シコンのグラタンを作りましたが、あまりの苦さに驚きました(笑)これは私の作り方が悪かったのかな？？？子供たちは全然食べてくれませんでした😅 ベルギーの食事は安いワインでも十分美味しいし、パンも最高でした！スーパーで売ってるチョコもとてもレベルが高くて美味しかったです。ガレーのミニバトンはよく日本へのお土産にしました。カルフールよりはデレーズやコラが近かったのでそっちによく行きましたが、コラよりはデレーズやカルフールの方が物が良かったように思います。ほとんどの食べ物は本当に美味しかったですが、マヨネーズだけは日本人の私にとってはキューピーマヨネーズがやっぱり1番で、日本食材店で買っていました。ベルギーにがっちり胃袋をつかまれてしまっているので、またいつか住みたいです。

長いコメントを書いてくださって、ありがとうございます！ベルギーに住んでいたんですよね！ベルギーにもいろんな問題がありますけど、いい経験だったと聞いて、なんとか嬉しいですね。笑　私は今までキューピーマヨネーズの食べたことがないんですが、食べてみたくなりました。
