One last video of it before it was sold for $2500.00. This is what bad cam chains sound like on a SUZUKI M50 Boulevard VZ800

I have a 2006 Suzuki boulevard m50 just to be 100% sure. This is what I did on mine . I took all the spark plugs out then i remove the valve covers then I turn the engine by hand. using a wrench and listen to the engine.In my case I missed one adjustments when rotating the engine

Just done mine and it was a pig of a job to do. Replaced chains, guides and tensioners. Getting the motor in and out of the frame is not easy but you cannot do the job unless the motor is out. The tensioners are inside the motor and you cannot get to them from the outside the motor like most bikes. The new tensioners do look better made than the original fitment (2008) but it is still a bad design.

I have a Suzuki Boulevard c50 black and I'm having to replace the starter clutch on it! Do you think I should go ahead and change the chain? ☹️

how can you tell the difference between the can chain and valve tap?
@Bchassis8 жыл бұрын
+ron oneal Get yourself a mechanics stethoscope. they are cheap ,and you can pinpoint where the sound is coming from..valves up top ..cam chain more on the right side.

Have a mate with a 2007 C50 and a little steel guide clip snapped ( like a cam chain guide ) the part was about $5,00 but cost him about $1,500 to fix it in the shop lol

My 2004 50 boulavard developed a raddle like cam chain , I put a rubber hose over the chain tensioner to gain more adjustment travel . The chains were so tight that the end of the cam shaft was pulled out of its bearing and had to be pulled into place by the top couver . Noise is still there ,could it be the oil pump chain ?

Hi, I'm thinking to buy this bike..... is this a very commin problem with this? Any other problem with bike? I'm also considering Yamaha xvs950 or xvs650? Do you have any idea which is better n low maintenence? Tha....
@Bchassis9 жыл бұрын
dshiningsword The M50 is pretty maintenance free..cam chains go bad on most all bikes eventually. They have since made better parts for it. You may have to adjust the valves..grease the drive shaft,and change the oil. Cam chains around 30,000 hard miles. I would get the M50 I loved it! much more sexy for the $!

ALL Suzuki 800cc twins are noisy like this ,, some worse than others , it don't matter if its a VL Volusia or the Intruders , the C50 Customs the Marauders or the M50 Boulevards ,, its Noisy arse Valve Noise , the only way round it is adjustment ( which will work a little ) the valves are supposed to be adjusted at around 12,000 miles or 24,000 kms The Yamaha XVS is a better bike and quieter , Honda V Twin 750cc is also better and quieter , Or you can go with a M50 Boulevard and make the pipes loud to cover the noise , I have a 2009 M50 and the valve noise is quieter than most but I don't abuse it and service it every 3000 miles with premium fluids , A Honda VT 750 shadow with low miles and in good condition will get you to Jupiter and Back ,, Stay away from Suzuki 650cc V Twins , spend a little more go 100cc bigger and go the Honda ,,,: )
