You and I have the same hair type. I would like to add some thoughts. I’ve been at this game for over 10 years and I have my hair care dialed in. My hair is naturally wavy without any manipulation. My hair is mostly fine and low to medium density. If one is a true wavy like me, yes I can easily manipulate my hair to become curly. I can use one of those brushes to brush style, scrunch the heck out of my hair, finger coil etc etc. OK now my hair is curly but it will eventually go flat. Why? Because my hair isn’t curly it’s wavy. It only got curly because I manipulated it. You mention moisture and hydration. It’s very important to have your hair juicy hydrated no matter what your hair type is. Yes when you manipulate your wavy juicy hydrated hair to become curly. If your hair is naturally wavy it will be wavy even with juicy hydrated hair. Now with hair type like mine, I can’t use any leave ins or creams. I get enough juicy hydration from my conditioner. I don’t need to add anymore hydration. I just use a cleanser, conditioner and a gel. Like you said another important factor for hair types like us is, “the most important part of a wavy hair life is between wet and dry. That’s why it’s important to not to air dry but to diffuse right away. Now there’s nothing wrong with air drying too. If your hair is naturally wavy NOT curly your hair will be wavy even if you air dry. Your hair will stay more wavy / curly if you diffuse right away. More of the story. Looks like your hair is wavy not curly. Yes you can manipulate your hair to become curly but expect and realize it will eventually go to its naturally wavy state. Our son’s hair is very thick and naturally curly. He doesn’t need to manipulate his hair to get it curly. When he rinses out the conditioner and shakes his head his hair is curly right from the start. He doesn’t have to do a darn thing to get it curly. We look at people like this and influencers on KZbin and wish we could have curly hair like that and get disappointed. We try to manipulate our hair to look like this. My advice is wavy’s accept your wavy hair. This morning was a wash day. After diffusing my hair is wavier and even curly with the crunch because I rake and squeeze my gel in for better penetration and hydration. Looking at it wow curly. But eventually it will go flat to my natural wavy state. When? Don’t care. As long as my hair is healthy doesn’t matter. Goes flat later today? So what lol.

Totally agree with your thoughts on manipulating wavy hair! I debated whether to talk about this in this video and ultimately deiced to leave it out. I've mentioned it in other videos but I may do a whole video dedicated to this topic because it's such a huge problem.

For a buff, you’re referring to the Buff brand like they use on Survivor, yes? (Loved that show for forever lol) I’ve heard of this as an option especially for fine hair, and I feel it’ll be better for me instead of a bonnet since it might be less prone to giving me sensory issues! I think I’m getting one on eBay

Yes! I got some cheap ones on Amazon years ago but they stretched out much faster than the Buff brand.

Can you provide a link to the bonnet thingy you wear on your hair overnight? I have tried doing the pineapple method, but I wake up with a headache in the middle of the night and need to take it off.

This is the one I have that I really like: amzn.to/4fqrPfl It doesn't get stretched out like the dupes on Amazon.

Every time I try a bonnet the back of my head is so flat no matter how I place my hair. A buff works for me but I have bangs. Should they be in or out of buff?

I would leave them out so they don't get totally smushed.
