I know that all the pros say you dont have to do anything crazy to rank up but the issue is, when you prove it, you are still making "simple plays" but they are perfect touches every time. 15k hours touches. So yeah you don't need to have crazy mechanics to rank up if you have 15k hours and can make perfect touches on the ball every single time lol
@jycegaming85309 ай бұрын
Yeah it’s the classic problem with any ‘unranked to blank’ series in any video game. People who are this good at the game make EVERYTHING look simple because of how honed their mechanics and game sense are, which gives the false impression to regular players that they too can perform at this level
@Richie07G9 ай бұрын
Yeah man I know Squishy is trying to do this to help people get better, and to be honest a lot of players can get better by following some basics and learning how to properly rotate. But even while Squishy is trying to follow all these rules and not going full pro on people, he also knows at any point he can turn the dial up to make sure he doesn't lose. Also, being able to read the ball perfectly off the wall and on every touch, how close or far each player is, the accuracy of shots, etc etc.. I won't ever have the time to learn how to air dribble or do good air rolls but I have almost gotten to Champ and that is truly the peak for me without the next level of technicality in air dribbling/air rolls, etc.
@cristianeering9 ай бұрын
This is the right answer. These videos are so solid. I can’t believe people are complaining that the basics are “misleading” when done by pros. They’re not. The message is clear: don’t focus on flashy mechanics-focus on ground play, bounce dribbles, fast aerials, and positioning. Watch your replays for the latter, you’ll be surprised how often you cut rotation and position poorly.
@sk8ermGs9 ай бұрын
@@CnutLongswordI actually can’t stand this way of thinking like the game is supposed to be fun but everyone out here in champ playing stuck to the ground sweating for their life instead of learning the coolest mechanics, really embarrassing if you’ve gotten all the way to champ without being able to air dribble. Ik ur comment is 1 month old, but ngl, if you play like him, they won't be able to do their shit. His opps are probably just like your opps, they just can't do their shit w Squishy being there. I lost most matches before, even tho I am probably one of the most mechanical rats you can find in Champ. Now I am on a 10x winstreak with big ass lead every match. The only thing I had changed, was listen to his "let the opp do their thing if there is no real threat" advise, and just shadowing them and waiting until they waste their shit on their own. The reason I said all that is, before, the opps would literally hit mechy shots on me which is basically exactly what you said, my matches now just entirely prevent them of doing that. + Since they keep wasting their ball, I get a free ball and I become the exact opp you described, most of the times ending in a goal.
@quasi-stellarcatastrophe45557 ай бұрын
@@ItsSintexI completely agree with you. I used to be a high level player in a card game called Yugioh, and the meta was basically to prevent your opposition from playing the game. I recently applied that to rocket league, and it makes a big difference. Don’t give the opposition time and space to make plays. Keep possession, and don’t overcommit to challenges. When I play casual (low ranking players), i can’t air dribble, flip reset and double tap. When I play competitive, I can’t even muster up a shot, let alone a shot on target. The ops don’t let me.
@Sheeshtimez9 ай бұрын
Overall: it‘s all about positioning, rotation and mechanically the first touch, react fast and with right decision to your opponents challenge. Consistency on every touch can’t be learned in 1 year, so even if you know what you should do in which situation, you will make mistakes on your touches or whiff sometimes when you are under pressure. Looks easy in videos, but it’s harder in real life.

You should try this series KBM! That way your air dribbles won't be perfect every time (maybe). Your reverse drifting and reversing while the ball is coming towards you to get the correct spacing is one of the most impressive mechanics I am seeing. Your momentum for air dribbles is down to a science too, where I end up boosting through too much or not enough and the ball ends up flipping my car backwards. Excited to see C3 (my rank) and how I can improve against my skill level! I notice a pretty extreme skill gap between C2 and C3. C1's are just faster diamonds IMO.

As some people here mention, your consistency is something the lower ranks do not have. You touch the ball with a very precise touch, something that you can't turn off not. For lower rank players (myself included C2), this consistency, car and ball control are simply not there yet when compared to you. We do understand that mechanics are not super relevant to manage to go to C3, position and know when to challenge are more important but, we can't make these touches as consistent as you. And when we miss, we lose the match. Fun series to watch and learn though!
@dominics1099 ай бұрын
One thing I learned after watching a bunch of road to gcs and also climbing up to gc is.. Pros / ppl making these videos will position based off their MECHINICS / what they can cover. So even if you're in the right place, theres good odds you'll get beat to the ball by other ppl and also these series dont spend enough time in these ranks to see the full picture of whats in here. Even as a gc I got hard stuck in c2 so many times even last week when I was trying to do my rewards, bc ppl are so inconsistent and your tm8s are also a wild card. You really need a pocket of luck and basically always position for your tm8 to whiff / half position for the whiff but be ready to turn around and follow up their touch Best mechanics to learn in champ ranks is by far shooting, defense, boost management, wall reads and recoveries Really never ever ever ever, take yourself out of the play ever Flakes / Rizzos series to gc were top teir bc they covered this stuff + 2 really good videos one by verge and other dude whos name starts w an "M" they're basically called how to carry bad team mates Where they show you how to actually play I went from hard stuck c2 to almost gc 2 just changing my positioning and i whiff SOO much. IF I can get consistent again I can prob get into mid to high gc 3 just bc I have 6k hrs and know how to work well w tm8s Thats my problem is I cant hard carry cuz I didn't spend 5k hrs in freeplay This games dying / dead tho.. its the same ppl you see after c3 so that investment in freeplay just isnt worth it anymore. Making a 6figure business from nothing takes less than 1k hrs.

a lot of people seem to miss the point of these types of videos. i'm sure that squishy understands that you're not going to consistently get clean touches like he does due to his thousands of hours in-game, but he is trying to emphasize that you will improve and rank up much faster if you focus on clean, efficient touches instead of playing super fast and trying to hit a triple flip reset musty quadruple backboard pogo in champ 2. obviously you won't be as clean as squishy is, but focusing on things like recoveries, game sense, and good effective touches will help you out more in the long run... also, the first guy wasnt even close to a smurf, mechanical players can get hardstuck by making stupid decisions and trying too hard for clips... the hit back to his own side followed by leaving the net wide open for squishy was dumb and shit like that adds up

This may be a dumb question but are the player lobbies platform-specific? In other words if you are playing on a PS5, would you be in a lobby with players on Xbox?

This series is the best show that eu servers are better than na servers. I just started an account on eu sevres and I am currently plat 2 in 1s and 2s. It is crazy and I am not a bad gc
