Man, I dream of the world that you play in of respectful competition and zero toxicity. After years and years, I finally turned off chat in the game because I just got sick of the toxicity in champ. If I was ever performing sub-par some day, I'd usually end up getting the typical chat spam and match throwing. Every time I see a pro play in a lower rank and get thrown off by someone being toxic (getting crushed by incognito pros will do that, I guess) it makes me wish people were more respectful in general.

It is great entertainment, but there isn't much to take from it for improvement. Squishy has tips on positioning that are good. In terms of mechanics, even his "simple"mechanics have all the perfect touches that most players cannot consistently replicate. Pros or high rank players that do this need to really dumb down mechanics and focus on fundamentals rather than "what mechanics can be done at this rank" so to speak. Skills like outplays, 50/50's, creating/finding space, taking your time, rotations, fake challenges, boost management, etc.

Been playing since 2015 and never really got past diamond 1. I'm not young (reactions aren't as good as they used to be!) and play keyboard only - yes, no controller. However, many of the tips here can totally improve my game. Not committing early, using the walls - particularly the backboard - and recovery speed are easily the biggest three. How many goals were aerials with high skill? A few, yes, but I'm never likely to master that. Everything else is within reach. Thanks Squishy!

One reason why you didn't find any of the diamonds or Champs that have these dream mechanics is because you didn't spend enough time there. Yes, their mechanics are not GC/SSL/ Pro. But those that are able to pull off some decent awesome freestyle mechanics in lower ranks, it usually works in their favor. They get into a match with a lower rank team, and they find themselves with the opportunity to shine those mechanics. Also with inconsistent low rank players, it gives these guys with a low rank a decent chance to shine.. They're are diamonds/ Champs that you mentioned having decent mechanics that you havent seen, but they come maybe 1/10 matches... for me. Loves your music... this!!! I appreciate you so much doing this. I have watched about 4th/5th time now. ( different videos at different times ). Since of the people that watch you are not pro, like myself.... I believe there are people that would like to see you climb these ranks at a similar pace as them, ( like 5mmr ) per win / lose. Being pro, and retiring..., what is the loss? The Rocket League game itself in general may step up several ranks just because you decided to dedicate and spend more detail time at each and individual rank.

Making a new account or throwing games to purposefully play at lower ranks or boost teammates is smurfing. This isn’t. You can make a new account if you’re intending to play to your full ability and rank up to where you should be. Not only that, but he’s dumbing his mechanics way down. Mechanically I play much better than this at GC1 but Squishy’s quality of touches, reads, and game sense is so much higher than your average player.

Squishy, love the videos and hope you read this one! On the vid with the toxic player, I wish you would say something nicely (or not since they are being toxic). Pull off the cover and be like yo this is squishy, you’re the problem. If it’s obviously them being the bad one. Maybe throw in a couple tips what they are doing wrong. But if they are being toxic, put them in their place. You know exactly what they are doing wrong and can maybe learn😂

Save a couple replays and watch them, compare what you do to what squishy does. You'll see everything you do wrong. Then you'll make some adjustments, your rank will probably go down a bit. It'll look scary but it'll go back up. Keep playin and trust the process you will definitely hit plat.

What you said at 8:30 is the secret everyone needs to get out of diamond. They don’t respect you reaching the ball first and will challenge. Look for a touch around them and it’s an easy outplay

The player in the lobby literally said "tf you're so good" and Squishy continued talking like he was playing like your average C3. Like, yes Squishy, people DO make those kinds of plays in C3 but those are most people's PEAK at the current moment and not generally a consistent thing.

Bet you won’t read this comment! In all seriousness though, this series is a great help. I recently tried out for my high school’s rocket league esports team. However, I’m pretty bad at the game, I peak at about mid plat range. I tried out thinking it would be a unique experience and I wouldn’t make it, but then they decided to let everyone join. To make things worse, only 3 people tried out in week 1. There are 2 more days of tryouts this week, but it’s looking like I would be at worst B team. Playing with champs for teammates, I need a way to quickly improve that doesn’t require me to sit in free play practicing mechanics. After all, the last thing I want to do is hold the team back. This series has specifically highlighted how to improve without being a mechanics god, so thank you so much, and I hope to put it into practice!

Btw, I've been meaning to say this throughout the series and I hope I don't give off the wrong idea; but squishy should really consider the amount of practice he's put into non-air roll based movement. U gotta really ask urself if u should be telling people "focus on the simple stuff" when ur car control has become not only muscle memory, but ur brain does it without even thinking about it. Sure air roll may expedite that process, but it still is pretty much the same thing of a person trying to get their brain to understand what the hell is going on. This is from a perspective of someone who has 3k+ hours in the game and learned to air roll through empiricism (Fancy word for experience) but that doesn't mean I still can just have muscle memory fully take over for me. Anyway, thx for the vids; ur diamond videos especially helped regain back the game sense I lost after quitting for a while

Pretty crazy how 99% of these road to SSL is just being able to know if you're closer, or they're closer. Obviously his touches are better than the normal Champ/GC. But it's just about re-evaluating after the touch if you're still closer. I'm just impressed his teammates are double committing with him and being pushed way too far up all the time like my lobbies 😂

Squishy, if u read this: im not sure if it is NA servers or what but people are always hitting flip resets in c2 and even in c1. It is like you said the mechanics are so inconsistent in these ranks and that's what makes it hard to rank up. Another problem is team mates like the ttv guy,i had two team mates go afk and switch teams after conceding a single goal, two games in a row. People are just so toxic and they quickly give up. I used to be gc1/gc2, now I'm stuck at c1/c2...sad.

Squishy since you’re doing this series already could you please make a video or dedicate small section of your next video to explain how to position for unexpected/awkward outcomes ? It’s something I , and I think other people struggle with. For example: If we’re following your rule set , and we’re positioning in the zone opposite to the play because the ball most likely will come to us , then what do we do when the ball just comes down the exact same lane ?

So far I have learned by watching this series is, you need at least 6 years of knowledge to be 98% consistent to get above champion. No mechanics needed just consistency.

Longtime viewer and love the vids and just to see your skill. The only question I have is to see if there is any difference if you did the same thing for another video, but instead of brand new account, have one that is already ranked in bronze and start from there. Just curious if anyone else would like to see or if you think it's a good idea to try. Keep up the awesome work and hope the new team goes well!

Seems like people don't believe in the power of keeping it simple. Also, they take for granted the timing on your challenges and the space you eat up with your positioning. Wild that one of the best to ever do it can give people the blueprint and they still don't want to listen. Oh wait.... happens everyday in every sport around the world.

I think some more decision making mid play commentary would be helpful. I think you’re too stuck on trying to see where they are mechanically before you can start doing it yourself, which isn’t much help. Talk more about how their positions change as they play and you rank up. Example at 3:13 why did you stop from going wall side with it or from just banging it on net or far side? I understand it was because the defender was holding the right wall but not everyone would understand why you do what you do when you do it. I’ll edit more examples as I see it. Example at 7:40 when he passes it to his team mate for the shot, how come you didn’t jump and contest the shot on net and instead waited for his shot despite knowing your teammate was ahead of you? Example at 12:05 with that save cleared , how come you dished it high middle when you could’ve played it right side in the direction where your teammate was heading? Couldn’t he have got corner boost and had free field control or was it better to slow the game down and dish them a pass while you recover for boost?
