I feel like I play so much better when I watch your videos. Obviously no where NEAR your skill, but I definitely play smarter so thank you
@iflyhelicopters9 ай бұрын
That’s the key to getting better at anything. Be obsessed. Watch how the best do it and then try to emulate that. That’s how I got good at skating when I was a teenager. Just watched my favorite skaters and really intently watched them studied them and felt how it would feel to do what they’re doing as they’re doing it, as if I was doing it. That visualization then manifested as I practiced skateboarding. Be like Mike. lol it’s pretty obvious stuff but it’s true in any field. Definitely skated better after getting hyped up watching skate videos. I’m sure same applies to you watching squishy then playing. You will just play better. I think the key to consistently progressing is to stop playing as soon as you feel like you’re not playing as close to squishy as you know you have before. So you don’t slip back into bad habits. Notice it. Get out of ranked. Fiddle in free play or get hyped again with another squishy video or just come back tomorrow. I know I used to lay in bed at night as a teenager and just skate in my head. And that definitely translated into actual skating. I’m sure you probably do the same with rocket league. Like playing in your head when you’re not playing. It’s cool stuff lol. Good stuff. Cheers mate

Whenever I want to really grind comp I first watch Squishy's vids and try to mimic the thought process, not play style (I'm C2, so I'm [shit]). I've ranked up so much this way, I started C1 Div 1 and I'm currently C2 Div 2 thanks to it. Just be calm and see what your teammate is doing so that you can play and think accordingly.

RE: Washed/Confidence. I get what you mean about confidence, but sometimes people put a lot of pressure on themselves, even at these ranks to do well that the pressure causes anxiety. Calling ones self "washed", to a certain extent, relieves some of that pressure to be "good" and allows the player to perform without (or with less) anxiety.

Toxicity in this game never ceases to amaze me. 2 seasons ago I got GC title for the very first time after 8 years of playing this game. It was awesome and it still is my greatest achievement in this game. I want to keep that banner when I play but I just can't if I want to somewhat enjoy playing this game. Currently i'm only champ 2 and when people see I have GC title and I happen to make mistakes (which I do make obviously) they give me so much shit, that nothing goes well anymore. It's the same thing in any rank and with or without GC title but after I got the title, toxicity became even worse. EDIT: And yes I only play with randoms so it is what it is. Don't have any good friends who plays this game.

I’m 40, a former college athlete and find that this game is VERY SUITABLE for my competitive needs. I fkn SUCK on the aerials. I practice when I have time, but I learn better by being in the fire and picking up what I see and hear. What’s the best way to simulates high level live play without people to play with? I do the unrabked tournaments sometimes, but guys end up scoring aerials and leaving when I SAY IN THE CHAT, “play it out, I just want to learn”. How do we find coaching?

Hi Squishy, I see you rotate back same side as your teammate quite often, is there any particular reason for this? I was under the impression that it was best to rotate opposite side. Thanks
@ToastandBananas9 ай бұрын
This is common in high level 2v2. If the opponent has the ball, it allows you to assist your teammate by disrupting them with a bump/demo/pass back. If your teammate has the ball, it allows you to get into a shadowing position more quickly in case your teammate loses possession. Rotating back post (on the opposite side of the play) is also valid and just depends on your starting position as you're rotating back. For example, if you're too far away from the play to disrupt an opponent who has possession of the ball, I'd suggest instead rotating back post that way you're facing the play as you come back around, allowing you to keep up your momentum.

I'm a little confused by what Squishy is saying with the poor cheats, I thought I understood but then at 10:23 it looks like he's doing exactly what he says not to do? He's pretty close on that cheat, it feels like if it deadball'd and the opponent cheated close, it could just chip into his net with no time to react, same as it has on kickoffs he's criticized. It looked similar to 9:10 to me (though Squishy was more centered). Overall I thought his cheat there looked pretty similar to some of his teammates' cheats but perhaps I'm misunderstanding his critiques.
@ToastandBananas9 ай бұрын
He's saying don't be up your teammate's butthole while they're taking the kickoff, but also don't be back so far that you can't be there for what happens. Drive, flip forward, and use either zero or very little boost.

Hey Squishy, I play OCE and I’m currently C3-GC level but honestly I’m coming up against other C3-GC ranked players and they’re all doing psychos and corner reads. There was a moment in that video where your opponent hit the ball to your corner and was up trying to read the bounce and score.. but you had no worries at all saying “he wont score that”.. I’m constantly playing against players in OCE who do read that at least 70% of the time. So with that, reaching SSL for me in OCE seems impossible. I am close with someone who is a top tier SSL and whenever I play with him the skill gap and just overall play style is insane to where I know I’ll never be able to reach that level. It would be interesting watching you do a “road to ssl” in OCE, i know it’s definitely not going to happen but I will say, judging by the players you came up against from C3-GC3… you would definitely be locking in a lot earlier in the ranks.

This is just an assumption, but I feel like the bad cheats comes from all the zen hype recently. I was watching a lot of zen gameplay and he just boosts through the kickoff and tries for a demo or really fast touch if the ball dies in center. I may be wrong, and it could 100% be from other players like him as well, but that's the reason I started cheating really agro. I have since stopped because of your videos tho!
