Brummer Stopping, I haven't heard that in a long time. We used to use it to repair wooden patterns back in the 70's :)

Something "Buddy Miller" about that. Good if you want to do some "T-Bone Burnett" type stuff, I'd have thought.

Hi fellas. I had an old Hofner as my first guitar. It looked like a Strat! Incidentally it took me a couple of seconds to realise that you guys are in the same room! 😂😂

I have a Hofner Senator Brunette in great condition. Not a thin line but a full acoustic F hole arch top guitar. Does anyone know how to date this guitar. It shows 11818 on the label inside. They were apparently distributed and sold by Selmer, with Selmer Foreign showing on the headstock alongside the Hofner brand. The tailstock has Compensator engraved or stamped into it. Cheers from Australia.

If those are Hamer pickups from the 80s then they might be “Slammer” pickups that were wound by DiMarzio to Hamer’s specs but all the ones I can find only had black not white bobbins
It was originally a single pickup guitar from the controls !! Probably had a pickguard ..Gone and often the bridges were changed ( hence the action problem ) . This was to accommodate the height of the humbuckers... Hofners Pickups in those days were single coils even in HB size cases....

It sounds great. I would leave it as-is as much as possible…maybe clean the electronics. I remember seeing Bobby Darrin perform “If I Were A Carpenter” on a duct-taped classical on a television show many years ago…sounded wonderful. I have a 1971 Yamaha in similar condition…it has a “vibe” and I wouldn’t change a thing on it. Cheers…

Nothing wrong with the sound of that. Yeah, spend the money & get it done up.

It's beautiful. With the amount of money you spend on new guitars, the investment here is pretty small. If it were me, I'd find some period correct pickups, replace any of the electronics that need replacing (keeping as much of the controls and functions as possible), refret, reset the neck, and do as little as possible to that finish while getting it a bit cleaned up. The takeaway is - when you buy an old guitar you'll need to fix it up :D

Would you / could you do some or all of the work yourself? That’d be a cool mini series to watch I reckon.

It might be above my skill level, but I’ll definitely look into it.

SPEND The $$$$!!!!!!!! But keep it as the original as much as possible. Research it. Love it.☺️

@@TheStudioRats , ya I know. But you can see what it really was setup originally. They were single coils, 1 pup, a tortoise pick guard and so forth. Just thought you would like to see. Oh yeah, open tuners! I think it’s a keeper myself. Where else can you get a simi hollow made to last, as it has, for your investment? Original and forward that is. So you have $1000+- in the end.

K Michael P, absolutely. I meant it like wow so that’s how it’s supposed to look.

Still got it. I’m going to take the pickups out. You’re more than welcome to the guitar if you want to have it picked up.
