Don't worry about us, issues do exist but mostly we're fine. Immigration is a recent event so acceptance takes time, and Muslims in the West have to deal with the 1000 years of animosity due to close proximity with the West, so there are historical factors. The mosque is older than the founding of America and this is not even the oldest mosque in China. The oldest mosque in China is the Huaisheng Mosque in Guangzhou built in 629 AD. Guess when the prophet passed away, 632 AD. Guess whose tomb the mosque housed, Saad Bin Abi Waqqas, a companion of the Prophet. The Uighurs only converted to Islam if not mistaken in the 13 or 14th century. The biggest Muslim ethnic group is not the Uighur but the Hui ethnic. Muslims have been living in China for 14 centuries. Muslims in China are not immigrants.....and Westerners esp Americans wonder why Islamic countries do not condemn China. The architecture of some of the oldest mosques in China are considered holy by Muslims all over the world. Hence, those who know history know about the US BS about Xinjiang. People in the West do not understand how people live in countries with a great diversity of ethnic groups, China has 56, Russia has 190+. Xinjiang has been part of China since Qianlong's generals calmed the unrest of the Dzungars with the help of the Mongolian tribes. They get to have basic living subsidies covered with houses or condominiums given to them if they need to be moved for development of mines or agriculture. Their children enjoy easier admission to universities. They got to have as many as children they wanted whereas the majority Hans cannot have more than one child before except farmers in countryside during prior era. Top entertainers often are minorities because Hans consider them handsome or beautiful.

Affirmative Action is probably not the right word for this. In America it was supposed to correct the great injustices that the US committed against black people throughout slavery and Jim Crow (spoiler alert: it didn't actually correct much of anything). But unless you're saying China has oppressed its minorities and is now trying to correct that error, Affirmative Action is not a good term to use.

In China you have all sorts of freedom including freedom to practice Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Confucianism , Taoism, folk religions of all sorts BUT you cannot use your religions or your freedom to commit treason against the State, terrorism, bombing in public places, support the CIA to commit color revolution to overthrow the CPC government, support the Separation of Xinjiang, Tibet, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan from China.
