The reptile community needs to team up with the Second Amendment community. We don’t have the same written in stone constitutional protection they have but i think there are parallels. Keeping reptiles definitely falls under the heading of ‘’life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness’’. The other thing they have is lots of experience fighting for the right to keep something that a huge part of the population doesn’t like, doesn’t understand and doesn’t want anyone to have. If these two communities could come together everyone’s freedom can be better protected and re-won. Maybe in ten years I can buy a machine gun without paying an extra tax (and a premium) while filling paperwork to import a retic.

If the retic and burm communities would stop flooding the market making these animals end up in the wrong hands we wouldn’t have half of these issues I’m a burm keeper and I see that we create a lot of our own issues to many breeders trying to pass babies along to everyone police our own before we even are taken seriously

Bullish/+. The vast majority of our problems stem from ignorance and fear in the non reptile populace and from organizations like HSUS taking advantage of the situation in Florida which has nothing to do with keepers. How many mishaps are there with irresponsible keepers per year? Zero on average? It makes the news every time and there are not a lot of news stories out there. Most of them are a seven foot boa on someone’s roof not giant snakes doing anything. The issue is not with irresponsible keepers OR sellers.

Funny, I dismantled your position with facts but KZbin took it down. It was respectful and crossed no guidelines but it isn’t here.

100%, There are absolutely waaaayyy too many giant snakes being bred and sold to people who shouldnt have them.

@@JohnAvillaHerpetocultural dismantle as you want snake rescues are flooded with giants and ball pythons 🤷♂️ snake haus is a prime example shoot them a email and ask what their opinion is they are far more knowledgeable then I am and vet run if you appreciate credentials

@@acaciaballpythons exactly I love the giants but there are not enough dedicated experienced keepers to be breeding at this capacity the snake to person ratio doesn’t mix and I refuse to include hoarders in this equation
