Dozens of homeless people have been living in the BMX park for years. Now the city is planning a clear-out.

No the fact is they don't have a right to be anywhere. Yet they exist and can't just disappear even though they offend people who can get jobs and live in homes they own.The nerve of them to keep breathing! Make a place for them because they have to go somewhere and pray you never become homeless. It can happen to anyone. It's terrifying, lonely, and hopeless.

It’s public property, which is why some have existed there for years. As the story stated, they are being removed, so the government can test for chemicals they contaminated the property with. Similar to what occurred for decades on the south side, resulting in three class action lawsuits involving thousands of Tucsonans. Check it out.
@LightInnDmountainАй бұрын
Better than on the streets, front of shops and around school, and that’s where they will go if removed. The land is there. Actually… if the government wants to, this problem will be solved long ago. Give them work, make them build their on houses assisted, shop and security provided by them. Away from drug dealers and temptations.
@object1ionАй бұрын
You realize they WANT to be near "drug deals and temptations" right? Otherwise, they would STAY at one of the many homeless shelters....but they cant/dont want to because they wont follow the rules.
@howdyyall417Ай бұрын
@@object1ion shelters are full of people who don't ever plan to get off the streets. It's first come first served, you don't have to have any desire to get a job, and you are allowed to steal from the person sleeping on the cot next to you who has a job interview planned for the next day.

So why do we pay taxes for public places that none of us can enjoy?
@howdyyall417Ай бұрын
You can enjoy the public park a lot more if you leave your comfy couch and air conditioning. The more people at the park and other public places, the less desired those places are for the homeless to congregate. They don't want to be where a police car drives by and sees them and cites them. The more people at a park the more cops will patrol there. So go defend your public places! Quit believing that you are the only one who ever paid taxes. There are old people who worked hard their whole life who are now homeless and have no where to go

Poor reporting---Report on drug use, criminal activity and unwillingness to work.
@debrananez9836Ай бұрын
🤔 According to city of Tucson Mayor that's NOT TRUE! Not all homeless are druggies. Lots of evictions are responsible for this. The cost to move in entraps these poor evicted tenants. Yes, the druggies are there but not like we all think. The Mayor is looking into helping these homeless people.
@paulbrungardt9823Ай бұрын
@@debrananez9836 Greetings Debra: I do not maintain all homeless are druggies. Some hard working & addiction free people have fallen on hard times; these people deserve our sympathy and help. As a physician, I have seen too many Americans fall down the rabbit hole of addiction. We will not begin to address the homelessness issue until we take off our rose colored glasses and realize drug addition is a cancerous epidemic. BTW, I sponsor a charity in Panama,Central America; I am truly impressed by the Panamanian culture values family ties & support. I wonder how much better the American homelessness circumstances would be if we still had a family centered culture.

@howdyyall417Ай бұрын
Hi I would like to introduce myself to you. I am homeless. I have never done drugs nor do I drink. I am a Christian and I am seeking a job. I own an RV that I have stored but I can't live in it. They don't hire me. I don't have an address, it's hard to stay clean when I literally sleep on the ground, I am sunburned and because I'm 50 I need dental work done. I'm exhausted and in pain. The shelters are full. There isn't much hope and no one to talk to unless I don't mind the drugged people rambling on about their delusions. It's hard to stay socialized enough to sound like I'm housed and not slip up and give it away that I'm homeless. People see me and they know. They offer me food I didn't ask for as proof that they know. I have paid taxes all my life, I have worked since I was 16. I raised babies as a single mom and child support was scarce so saving was a fantasy. We homeless have a bad reputation due to some of us. Not all of us are lazy on drugs and just want the world to take care of us.

@@dr.emilschaffhausen4683 The number of unsheltered people in Pima county decreased by 9% in the past year. This brings the current count to about 1,500 as compared to 1,324 in 2020. Those illegals are really taking over the homeless camps. 🙄As people are pushed out of areas, they have fewer areas to inhabit. This increases the population in a given available area. Another interesting stat is that the homeless population in the US decreased annually between 2007 and 2016. It then increased annually between 2017 and 2020.
