I was in a really bad period in my life when I started watching vinland saga. As I continued on with the manga, I could not believe that a lost person in life like Thorfinn could find once again purpose to exist. "If you want to be reborn, empty's the best way to be." When I read this quote in the manga I couldn't hold up my tears anymore. Now I have finally achieved a peace of mind and I try to make the best of my life, just like Thorfinn. Also, the story puts up the notion of true warrior as a central idea. So the question is: What is a true warrior? Well, even though the manga gives the answer to it, for me a true warrior is the one who continues to smile despite knowing the faults in this world. So I am really grateful that this masterpiece exists and I hope that the vinland saga community will support it throughout this exciting journey❤️

I'm glad you were able to overcome that. I just recently got out of a depression followed by losing some of my closest friends because of things that I did out of fear of losing them ironically enough, and I'm just now starting to feel good about myself after two months of analyzing my own actions and learning to live with the fact that it was my own fault and I need to change. we're all going through it in some way or another, but media like this that shows so the process of growing as a person helps us through our struggles in a way that isn't entirely painful, and for that I wholeheartedly thank yukimura and other authors making similar work. stay strong stranger, I think we're both gonna make it.

This is what chatgpt has to say about thorfinn write a song on thorfinn's tragic life from vinland saga Verse 1: Born in war and raised in pain, Thorfinn's life was not in vain, He fought for what he knew was right, But darkness came with every fight. Chorus: Thorfinn, Thorfinn, A warrior with a tragic life, He fought for honor, he fought for might, But it all led to endless strife. Verse 2: He lost his father in the fray, And swore to seek revenge one day, But vengeance only brought him more, Of what he couldn't take anymore. Chorus: Thorfinn, Thorfinn, A warrior with a tragic life, He fought for honor, he fought for might, But it all led to endless strife. Verse 3: He sailed to Vinland, far away, But his demons followed him to stay, He found love, but lost it too, His heart forever black and blue. Chorus: Thorfinn, Thorfinn, A warrior with a tragic life, He fought for honor, he fought for might, But it all led to endless strife. Outro: In the end, he found his peace, But it came at the cost of his release, He fought until his dying breath, For a life that was not meant for death.

I think the most interesting thing about Vinland saga is how this arc is probably one of the best story i've read in manga in itself but you still have the rest of the manga after that that is just aas great. I also find it funny that if you follow the story it spend so much time with farming and after that manage to skip a whole part of the story where the character travel to greece and it's so well written that you can't be mad at the author for skipping the merchant arc as a whole.

The best (or at least one of the best) character development I've seen is Takeru from the Muv-Luv trilogy. It's not entirely fair to compare VN to anime and manga, but still. Takeru may not change drastically, but he goes through such an outstanding easily traceable and believable development, allowing you to clearly see the reason for every change in character and skill, making it easy to always put yourself in his shoes. At the same time, his views on life and principles change dramatically, and these changes are always interconnected with plot events. I can say a lot more, but I'd rather just recommend reading Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative for those who haven't done it yet, this dialogue (trilogy) is a true masterpiece.

I don't know this but, "Takeru may not change drastically" even though Thorfinn has an incredible development, is very well written, a good development is not only to change drastically like him, there are many ways to develop a character after all.
