I did this to my 3060. Now only has 95W TDP but only has 8% drop in performance. Now I can abuse it for days on rendering session

I used to buy thermal paste, but now I simply use my Permatex anti-seize compound. Comes in aluminum or copper variants. It's worked just fine for tens years in my desktops.

I was leaning towards Intel for my upgrade (something like i5-13600K), until I accidentally learned just yesterday that inslalling a PCI-E 5.0 SSD results in the GPU slot being cut to x8 from x16. That kinda sucks (not that anyone REALLY needs a PCI-E 5.0 SSD, but hey, it's a new toy to play with and see if you can actually utilize it for anything).

The benifits of getting a 5.0 ssd are so minor, it isn't even worth it. The performance hit going from x16 to x8 is also barely noticeable.

​@@Intelwinsbigly, you're right on both counts, but with an asterisk: the hit is barely noticeable for games - if at all. But it is quite noticeable in compute applications, which is important to me (I can't wait to get PCI-E 5.0 GPUs).

​@@Krazi-RDNA, to be fair, it doesn't matter for gaming and probably won't matter in any near future. But it does matter for running some kinds of computations on the GPU (not for all computations).

SSD manufacturer seriously need to label the goat damn DRAM CACHE on their box & tech spec page. that's one complaint I had with SSD....
