I do think that the 7900 XTX is going to stand the test of time; it takes years to develop games; as a result of this, we only just now see the effect that Nvidia-sponsored ray tracing will have in new games coming out, but most of these games would have been developed using the best GPUs of time in past like the 3090. The 7900XTX. can ray tracing around the level of 3090, so I do think we are good for the next few years or more. The games to keep an eye on are games that require hardware-accelerated ray tracing in order to function, and I think we're going to see a lot more of them, and the hardware to watch is that new generation of consoles. In the past, I found this good guide to things like minimum specs needed for a PC build and what amount of VRAM you should get for your GPU, and now I also gpimg tp keep and level Raytracing that conceal will have. I am running a 7900XTX with 5800X3D, 16GB x 2 for 3600 RAM, and I hope to get around another 4-5 years out of this system beyond that bonus.

As a new PC builder i bought the 4070 Ti Super. It feels like everyone says to wait, but why? Whats the point if the 50 series will be insanely expensive and hard to get and not even have more than 16gb VRAM outside the 5090 maybe 5080, but thoose cards will without doubt be out of this world in price especially if you live in Europe like i do. I dont see what the point is. Why not just get a high end 40 series right now if you can find them at a reasonable price or discounted like i and many others did on black friday. No doubt the prices will only go up on 40 series from here on out and you could end up trapping yourself not being able to get a 50 series at a good price for a very long time. Just seems like bad advice to me

I chose the 4070ti for different reasons. I couldn’t upgrade my PSU for higher power to support the 7900XTX. Also I would have needed a new case since all 7900XTX cards are well over 315mm in length. The MSI 4070ti super Ventus 2X has lower power consumption and is physically smaller. If I had the budget for case and PSU, I would have gone for AMD

Can't you use a better, more understandable metric for product recommendation? Like 1080p bare minimum, 1440p sub 30 fps/ 1440p stable 60 fps etc. Whenever I shop for a GPU I don't go "Oh I have 500 ish $, what gpu should I get?" I shop with a mindset "Can this GPU perform at 1440p@60" and then I will decide if I can stretch my budget to buy more expensive GPU for my desires or go with the absolute minimum $ to spend for a GPU to achieve my goal. No hate though, thanks for your efforts.

It's not viable with how shit the optimization is in a lot of games now. Your could run 4k 60 fps in a game like cyberpunk but fail to do 1080 30 fps in stalker 2 all because of shit optimization. When and if a game will be properly optimizated is another problem on top of it all.

I just build my pc with the black Friday purchases from Amazon, they took a month to ship. Ryzen 5 7500f, rx7600xt 16gb, patriot viper 32 gb ddr5 and gigabyte 650 gaming wifi. Around $700 on those, the rest of the parts were from my latest build in 2015. During covid i switched to laptop but it got stolen and i simply don't like to have a laptop that feels like i can cook on it. I've built my gaming PCs since 2001 and the fact that a $300 GPU is considered entry level is insane. If someone asks me for specs to get his kid a decent gaming pc I'm shutting my mouth and plead the 5th

In the Netherlands its kind of expensive for GPUs. B580 is available at 330 euros for the ASRock Steel Legend one (I think it's the "best" version out there if size limitations allow). I bought one anyway, because at this price point there is nothing better. 7800XT is a 'normal' price but I didn't need such a GPU

The fact that the 3060 launched after the 3070 and had 12gb of Vram tells you everything you need to know... I was new to pc gaming at the time so I was drawn in by the whole RTX plug, Which in all honesty has been utterly useless as it just kills performance due to lack of Vram😂 So yeah, if you want an rtx card that can't actually handle anything but basic ray tracing at 30fps, it's great 👌🏻👍🏻

Games today barely look any better than let's say Crysis 3, a game from 2013, all the extra performance just went into dev studios skipping the optimisation... 400 bucks for an "entey-level card"...
